After holding on to this bottle for 16 years finally cracked it for my anniversary. I’ve watched this evolve from pale yellow to rich apricot over the years. Sweet as hell, and super round, but not that complex. You could probably find some peach flavors and a little carmelized pop tarts in there. Awesome for a dessert wine. A dessert on its own. Looking forward to trying it tomorrow night as well.

Buttery sweet, slight butterscotch candy wine with decent character. Pale gold in color and can be sipped on its own. Opened for a birthday dinner and it didn’t disappoint. However, once again this wine shines in its complement to dining. I am enjoying how it enhances each dish, bringing out the citrus and acidity of a salad, or the smokiness of a duck pastrami.

This is an enjoyable cotes du rhone. Not sophisticated but a good balance of ripe fruit and a little earthiness to offset. Good deep color and a medium grip. Feels fresher than the 2016.

good body for a riesling - enjoyed it
The wine looks greenish gold colored. There is light sediment in the bottle.

Good density. Heavy juicy blackberry, more intense than the 2015.

Buttery aroma with a hint of lime zest, but it stays round like a Chassagne. Good feel in the mouth and does not go mineral or chalky or sour. Elevated chicken tacos and chipotle with avocados to a new level. It really stands up to food and I will be experimenting with further combinations of wine and gastronomy in subsequent bottles.

A good bottle with some character. I’m going to say that this is a little in between - still closed up a bit and chewy, while retaining some nice blackberry and tobacco. Not very aromatic so I’m hoping I’ll like it more in 6 months or a year.

It’s been two years since I had my last bottle of the 2015. This is a Burgundy and at first taste you get that Pinot nose. But this is Givry and therefore pretty woody with medium body tannins. It was fine to drink over several days with the vacuum pump sealing it at night. I actually felt like it opened up more as it went, revealing some tart cherry on the finish. I’m gonna continue to wait on this one.

A little early for this wine. Some cherry and clover grassiness, good color and tart medium body.

Sweet rich cherry lozenze, medium body, with some licorice notes and plenty of remaining tannins. Try again in 6-9 months to see how it all blends together.

Just about right now. Definitely calmed down from the bitter or tannic taste that I felt it had a few years ago. Now tastes like a Pinot Noir and could actually get suffocated by some stronger tastes. However it does maintain some character, a bit of that blackberry bark and earthy stem taste that I find in Givry. Color is dark for a Pinot, and body is medium to full.

Still very fruit forward, and at the same time grips you on the palette.

This was the first bottle that revealed some of the Pinot character. I had opened this vintage 6 months ago and felt it was thin and simply fruit. So it was a good surprise. Looking forward to seeing if this villages level evolves in the future.

Color is a nice translucent medium body that you would expect from an aged Burgundy. Not much aroma. Pepper and dry cherry dominate. Notes of earthy raw mushroom, peppercorn and clove. This has held up well given that I bought it at the winery while biking through Burgundy and have not made any special efforts to preserve it.

Tasted in a flight tasting, bottle just opened. The strawberry and slight cherry is starting to come out nicely.

Really great summer wine. Beautiful taste, even at a warm temperature. Also nice chilled. Grapefruit honey and chalk minerality.

Party in the mouth. Wine with a lot of character and a lot going on. Paired well with a strong runny goat cheese and would stand up to strong tastes.

tasted today and was impressed with the depth of character of this not-too expensive Bordeaux. One step above an everyday Bordeaux.

Nice bouquet on opening, floral and light peach. Served chilled, good on its own and also complemented a pesto pasta dish. A white that you can enjoy more than one glass of.

This one is good with food, eating with steak, the sweet cherry and raspberry fragrances come out. Still a little subtle so I am going to wait till 2018 before opening the next bottle.
