Wonderful intensity on the bouquet with cherries, blackcurrants, mint and rose petals. Dry with finesse. The acidity while present is not dominating, but is gently balanced. The tannic structure shows a wine that is still in its infancy. Black fruits, olives and sweet liquorice in effortless harmony and a long lingering finish. Save another decade.

11/6/23, 11:12 AM - @pemazel: Not sure I get the question. "A point", do you mean "around"? If so, I of course hope so and that you'll still be able to enjoy great wines. But of course, you could always drink it sooner rather than later. I would just give it plenty of air. I drank this over 3 days (I my memory serves me correctly). Definitely a change for the better from day 1 to 2.

Very clean, citrus tart aromatics, classic Leflaive.

Sweet black fruit, green leaves and pepper. Smooth mouthfeel, good structure and a tannic grip. Starts to open but +5 years wouldn't harm.

Lime green flesh in color
Briney nose. Hint of oak. Touch of smoke. Some melon notes. Oyster shell.
Dry, nice acidity. Beautiful long finish. Perfectly balanced. Some lime notes. Some herbal notes. This wine is bloody delicious. Case worthy for sure!

Red
2016 Nervi-Conterno Gattinara Nebbiolo

From the lesser-known Gattinara appellation in the northern part of Piedmont. Made from 100 % Nebbiolo, this wine not only appears like a true Barolo, it also tastes like it. There's richness to it which is both refined and elegant. The Nebbiolo's "roses and tar" w. dark cherries, some liquorice and vanilla prevail while rounded tannins and retained acidity give a stout and earthy mouthfeel.

Keep or drink.

Finished over two days. Day 2 better. Thus, give plenty of air.

Intense white. I wouldn't call this rustic, but it is a bit less elegant than its cousins right next to it. Not a bad thing though.

Dry, med+ acid, med+ body and intensity. Baked apples, honey-roasted nuts, salt, butter, butterscotch - everything combined in a creamy texture and very persistent aftertaste. Incredible.

2/3/21, 11:18 PM - Yeah should probably have been a bit more precise here. I am overall referring to both Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, but mainly to Ramonet's portfolio in Chassagne.

Deep, dark intense red - almost purple. Pure, clean nose, not very expressive. Dry, med(+) acid, med+ tannin, med+ intensitet and high alc. The wine is quite well-made although the alc. stands out, leaving it a bit unbalanced. The finish is long however. I wouldn't write it off just yet.

Keep.

My notes: Ripe black fruits, balckberries, liquorice, herbs, animale, yoghurt, tobacco and leather.

Straw yellow. Med intense nose w. stone fruits and some rubber and petroleum. Med(+) acid, med body and intensity and alc. Good minerality and stony structure. Balanced between the fruits and more stony character. A bit watery finish. Not big, but easy-drinking.

Drink.

My notes: Petroleum, yellow stone fruits, gooseberries, salty capers.

12/28/20, 11:51 AM - Thank you srh for your comment. Just saw your notes on the bottle. Very interesting read. I had 1/3 bottle left for today and also got more of the spritzy feeling today while lime and blossom was more accentuated.

Made from the three main grapes: pinot noir, chardonnay and meunier. NB: Red and Black has noted to me that it is 50/50 PN/CH and I'm inclined to belive him/her as I am not particularily well-informed on the grapes.

Colour: Very transparent and clear. A bit yellowish.

Bouquet: Slightly perfumed, very clean and med intense w. apples, liquorice root, nuts, flowers, hay and green pears.

Palate: Fine bubbles. Dry, med acid, med(+) body. Creamy texture w. mushrooms, apples, liquorice, pears and nuts. Oxidized profile. More bisquit than toast but still noticeable. autolysis. Wonderful finish.

Too young, way too young.

11/30/20, 8:19 AM - Absolutely. But honestly my first with DP. What makes you think it might not be?

  • tobyc commented:

11/30/20, 10:05 AM - Regarding the grapes, it is likely that I was misinformed. Truthfully I wasn't really sure but that was what my notes said. So you might be right on that one.

Regarding the difference, I had the Dom P 08 in both April and August 2019 and they were complete opposite experiences. And I honestly can't figure out why. The August tasting was done in a group and my notes are similar to the rest of the group. The April one on the other handwas tasted alone (with my wife) but over the course of the day with no or little variation on my notes from the afternoon until late evening.

One of the grande marques 5-10 % of the wine gets new oak for four months and mature in bottle for up to 8 years!

Colour: Lightly pearly and golden hue.

Bouquet: Pure and toasted, dusty w. yello stone fruits and liquorice.

Palate: Creamy, soft and pleasant. Pronounced sweetness w. med+ acid and med body. Full of stone fruits, pineapple, orange zest, fennel, lemon and toast.

Overall: Can you like something and still be a bit disappointed? Personally, that’s how I feel. On the other hand, it is not particularily complex and it lacks somewhat depth.
