Not bad, quite rich, perhaps some oak and/or lees/batonnage?, some botrytis lime blossom notes, also ripe apple, going in direction of sherried/oxidative after a few days open but with the structure (acidity/alcohol) to hold it so not in a bad way

Nice skin-macerated Verdeca. Very on the herbaceous side with a structured tannin bite and good acidity in the finish. Without food, the finish leaves your palate numb in a good away almost akin to eating a touch of Sichuan pepper. With food, I imagine the structure is there to hold up to quite strong flavours (mature goat/sheep cheese?) or even Asian dishes that use Sichuan pepper (in moderate doses). Might not be a match to everyone's taste but worth giving it a try if you are curious and looking for something different!

Wtorek z Winem Libanskim w Mezzaliansie (z sommelierem Kubą Janickim); 2/27/2024-2/29/2024 (Mezzalians, Kalwaryjska, Kraków): Having not tasted Musar for a good few years now, this seems to be a cleaner style with less funk than the older vintages I remember (2003 drank in 2018, 2000 drank in 2009). Still good though. Might develop more character with more bottle age.

Make sure you serve this bottle very well chilled and open it near a sink if you have a bottle of it in your cellar because, despite being served reasonably chilled (12°C) nearly half the contents practically exploded out of the bottle upon opening and the remaining few glasses were like muddy water, so full of sediment that hardly drinkable.

Not a good bottle / experience.... Perhaps partly my fault for opening a Pet Nat at a not fully chilled temperature (though we opened another bottle of sekt at the same temperature after and it was fine...). Or maybe some extra secondary fermentation in the bottle during storage or simply a bottle from the "bottom of the tank"?

If all bottles are like this one though, then probably some kind of manual dégorgement is the way to go!

Would be interested to hear about other experiences with this bottling as usually I love Oszkár Maurer's wines.

Popped and poured. Cork considerably shrunken but intact and not showing any signs of ingress/egress and still good, lively but gentle fizz. Lovely golden, dark amber, almost IRN-bru like hue! Toasty aromas at first and strong presence of walnut aromas as others on here have mentioned. With more time in the glass, toasty aromas took more of a back seat and started to show more precision and elegance, apples, citrus, also some umami notes, though unfortunately the wine was so drinkable that shared over dinner it became impossible to hold any back for more than an hour or two!!

My first experience of a vintage champagne with so much bottle age and one which I'd happily repeat though the chance to open these kind of bottles doesn't exactly come around every day!

Needs time to open. Nose dominated by sulphury/oak notes at first but after carafing and some time in glass started to open up nicely. Good texture and acidity with fairly classic Riesling aromatics.

Paired very well with roast pork in caraway seeds and young cabbage.

A little too closed and tight-laced to be of interest to drink right now. Maybe needs more time in the glass or in the cellar but that was my impression tasting both after opening and after a couple of hours open

A little two-dimensional and lacking in acidity at first, just juicy with a interesting and rich oxidative element dominating, but really started to sing on another taste an hour or two after opening - much better acidity, quince, lemon curd with the oxidative note taking more of a back seat

Bottle drank from friend's cellar. Cork disintegrated on opening. Deep brown colour and very sherried oxidative notes but still good acidity. Not perfect and probably over the hill (or not stored ideally) for a 3 puttonyos at this age but still an interesting bottle to taste.

A lot of VA straight after opening, stabilised and became a bit more drinkable over time. Remainder of bottle left for a couple of days and checked again but had gone mousey. Perhaps a bad bottle.

Deep orange colour, good acidity with a touch of sherry notes. Perfect match for baked rabbit with boletus mushrooms.

Darker colour and clearer / less sediment than 2012 bottling.

Again like on the Riesling Klasika from the same vintage that we had, a very slight almost subliminal note of cork or taint which seemed to come and go. Not as off-putting as I remember it being on the Riesling though and underneath the quality of the material of the wine seemed to be good, with nice colour and great acidity perhaps going a little in the oxidative direction. Seemed to improve after an hour or so open and somehow if you can get over all of the above still strangely seemed to be surprisingly drinkable so that must say something in its favour....

Tasted with Michael Andert in his garden. Favourite white wine of day. +++. Slightly turbid with gold flecks. Tangy with good acidity and fullness. Great example of what a good unfiltered skin-macerated wine should be like (Bottling with Enthält sulfite label, don't know if what is in the bottle differs though from other bottles from this vintage (with same batch no.) which don't bear the same Enthält sulfite notice (perhaps just a change to meet labelling requirements...)

++ Second favourite red of evening in Pamhagen and still good next day with perhaps very slightest subliminal mousey note on finish but not persistent enough to spoil the wine/palate.

Still OK four days after opening - subliminal note still there in aftertaste but hardly noticeable

Dominated by appley, oxidative taste. Perhaps not a perfect bottle or corked though no obvious cork taint on the palate.

After having a bottle of this that perhaps wasn't perfect about 4 years ago, this wine is singing right now. Really crisp and fresh with good bite but very delicate and aromatic at the same time showing some herbal notes (fennel and even a touch marzipan in the mid palate once it opened a little more) and just a tinge of earthiness (from the amphora no doubt) with a really long but not over-tannic finish. If you close your eyes and take a sip sometimes you can almost feel a passing waft of grassy Styrian meadows on a summer evening :-)
