This could be my top 5 wine ever. Really love the acidity of the Sangiovese as the red fruit balances perfectly to create the perfect harmony. Red currants, raspberries, cranbarries together with the minerality create a taste that lasts for a very long time. Lucky I have two bottles left, will wait at least 5 years for the next bottle, if I can keep my fingers off :)

I seem to be drinking this at 2-year intervals and I’m pleased to see the consistency in character and excellence in the 2000 Baron. Ibid earlier notes; a classic, cool, cassis, coal, ash, and sligtly nutty profile with plenty of muscle.

Drank over 2 weeks and only got better each night. Hold, drink or Buy.

All i can say is Wow!! Was not expecting that!!

Had planned to bring an older vintage, but grabbed the wrong bottle, most everyone at the gathering are lovers of early drinking big Napa Cabs, so was all good.

I was not expecting the bottle to be so "Open" and accessible.

This had gobs of Purple and Blue fruit, with a mouth coating and finish that I was happily surprised with at such and early stage of its development. Its oak signature seemed very integrated and not noticeable.

Wish I could have savored this a bit longer but with the 6 of us, the bottle was gone and a flash, so no time to take any time for more formal notes.

Was the WOTN for everyone there, glad I picked up a case, looking forward to see how this one progresses!!

95 now, but see easily has a point or two upside if not more!

This wine was made with wine critics in mind. It is all about “smoothness” “balance” “silkness” “purity”etc.
What it lacks is character. It looks like it was made by a chemical engineer adding desired sensorial ingredients rather than by an enologist. “Let’s add some more balance that Suckling likes that”
Those South American 100 pointers are beginning to look all the same. In the end you don’t know if you are drinking a Catena, a Cheval des Andes 2017 or a Concha y Toro.
Don’t get me wrong, it is a great sip that will improve for some years, an easy drink and the bottle goes fast. It is only that I don’t like where this 100 points spread by Suckling is driving the industry in South America
Tasted along a Pontet Canet 2016, a much much better wine.

11/8/21, 4:35 AM - What’s that second bottle you mentioned? Château Pontet Canet in Pauillac?? I’d imagine suckling reviewed that. So I must be misunderstanding. Sorry.

Rhône Variety Tasting hosted by TCWC (Virtual): This has now been in the glass for just over an hour and we are still trying to decide whether or not this has some TCA in there. I've been swirling this vigorously trying to get it to either open up or show definitively that there's some TCA there. When I was tasting something in one hand, I was swirling this in the other. By the end of the night neither of us detected anything resembling TCA, but this wasn't as expressive as what our hosts were tasting, so perhaps, just maybe, there was some very low level taint here.

Notes of red fruit and mesquite with a fleeting hint of bacon fat. Medium tannins. Flavors of red fruit, iron, tar, a bit of wood and pepper.

Maybe some day we will get another crack at this and we'll know whether or not this was a pristine sample, but it'll have to be on someone else's dime as I'm out at the current retail $.

By the end of the night, this was my 5th place wine; Domino's 3rd.

Good is generous. This wine is rated 100 by a wine critic who knows more than I do about great wine. But, in this case, he must have been eating something that flattened his palate. Even after a day of air and decanting I can rate this 85 at best.

Would be careful where you buy this
I definitely got a diluted bottle from twm

Not worth it
Js sold out on this

I’d stay away from bacci all together
Till they get their house in order
  • LenzWine commented:

12/7/20, 4:25 PM - Diluted? You think they’re adding water to some of their bottles??

  • LenzWine commented:

12/8/20, 6:10 AM - Definitely seems to have mixed reviews from folks. For sure not a 100 pt wine right now. I’m going to sit on mine for a while. We’ll see! 🤞
