Needed a-lot of air again. At least an hour decant which is surprising for a 20+ yr bottle.

Excellent. Vibrant, complex blue fruit based after about a 1 hour decant. Softened and was more muted after 3 hours. The 2h spot was the peak. Super fun to follow the evolution and changes throughout dinner.

Excellent! As if an Italian made an Oregon Pinot Noir.

Bad bottle or vintage is in a weird spot. Closed down, muted and linear even after multiple hours of air.

Consistently the best Chianti in our cellar. Love it.

2 hour decant and the last glass was by far the best. 3 hours or a few years for the next bottle.

After approaching close to a 3 hour decant… wow! I thought we had a dud bottle until then.

Very subtle almost nonexistent nose. Medium body. Sour plums. Watered, light fruit finish. Hold till 2023 for next bottle.

Did not have high hopes based on the age, but was pleasantly surprised. Still had some freshness and power. Super enjoyable.

2009 The Mascot Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Great after about an hour decant.

Exceptional after a 90+ minute decant.

4 hour decant. Fairly muted nose. Delicate and elegant on the palette with deep dense fruit. Finish had tight tannins? What I would describe as chalky? I believe that’s a characteristic of its youth, especially with the lack of nose. (I’m new to wine.) I’m going to wait 1-2 years before opening another bottle, keeping an eye on other CT reviews.

Drank over 2 days. Great, well balanced, deep blue fruit with wonderful medium length Syrah spice finish.
