Getting cold here, so felt like picking a Chateuneuf du Pape tonight. This was a classic from a Cdp. Decanted for an hour as the wine is still tannic. Opened up more as the night went along. Dark fruit, perfumed, and some leather. Fantastic CDP (Editor's note: score of 60 removed)

    11/29/23, 5:16 PM - 60 pts is clearly a typo, right?

In 2009, Mr. Robert Parker rated this wine 100 points, so I am told. And, who am I to disagree. This wine was simply amazing and paired perfectly with prime rib.
Mild to moderate sediment. No flaws. Moderate rim variation in the glass. Dark, ruby garnet color. Amazing nose and taste of dark fruits and florals. Low tannin. Low acid. Medium alcohol. Long, long finish. New world taste and nose, but, aged like a French Bordeaux.
As stated paired perfectly with prime rib. Well within drinking window. Peak, I don't know. Life left - plenty. Got one to go and will probably not taste for 4-5 years.

Hmmm. Too much barnyard for me. Plus a bit of heat on the back end. It or I might just be in a weird place (hopefully).

11/1/20, 10:08 AM - I feel like I maybe had an '07? But then I think I sold em cuz i had so much '07 CDP. '08 was a year where balance'd be easier to come by, I'd suppose.

Really great shape at the moment. Full body, bordering on lush, easy-drinking fruit with plenty of complexity and length.

5/20/20, 6:06 PM - yeah, I mean that '03 Rocket Block we had at Britt a few years ago was absolutely on fire. I've still got a couple '03 and '04 Ojais myself (technically south of Paso, in SB cty, right? but close enough)... should probably crack em

Cooked! and a whole mag. Curse you Zachy's. This was purchase for a special occassion and must have been stored or shipped improperly.

7/9/18, 8:00 AM - none of my business, but the wine being corked reveals nothing about its provenance re: storage or shipping.

    7/9/18, 4:25 PM - ah! indeed--my mistake (of course)

Wow, this is my kind of Cab! Big, dark, fruit forward, wonderful extraction. This is one of the best drinking cabs that I have had this year. I love this O'Shaughnessy Cab and I can't wait to try other vintages. 91.7 Points

still a little young, but typical great Chateauneuf du Pape, layers of terror, smokiness, and spice

I opened this bottle knowing it was a mere baby, and my assumption was correct. I'll be waiting another 2-3 years as this wine has the markings to be excellent+++, and I want to fully enjoy the results.
