Cork. 9.5% alc.
Peach, lime, mango, smoke. Mineral aspects are more obvious on first taste. Clean and pure palate, with low to moderate acid. So fresh and attractive. Youthful and primary but delicious now.
  • fizz commented:

11/2/23, 10:08 PM - That’s quite possible Peter! I kind of expected more acid at this youthful stage though. Having said that, it was super balanced and a delicious drink!

DD crossed the bridge: 13% alc. Level into the neck.
Decanted and served immediately.
Plum, cedar, tobacco, red fruits. Medium bodied, fully mature wine. Seamless structure with integrated, fine and dusty tannins.
  • fizz commented:

    4/5/23, 10:45 PM - Hi tmas
This wine was also purchased at release and professionally stored. There was some fine sediment that was easily decanted off.

Cork - short and barely stained.
Still maintains a crimson edge and a dark core. Blueberry, cassis, tobacco, earth. Tannins are well integrated as you would expect. There’s good persistence and intensity, and the finish is also quite long. Just a lovely, old Australian shiraz doing its thing.
  • fizz commented:

8/9/21, 2:46 AM - Sure. Wouldn't recommend keeping it for any extended period. FWIW, this bottle had been kept in perfect storage conditions.

Classy and elegant. Lifted florals and black pepper, with black fruits and an earthy, leather note. Seamless texture. So well balanced. Drained pretty quickly. Drink or hold.
  • fizz commented:

5/16/21, 3:40 AM - I think it’s entering it’s drinking window. I have a few more bottles, so will plan to try one every year from now. There’s no rush on them.

Red and black fruits, almost jubey. Nicely weighted and structured. Varietal. Cedar, spice and tannins are there, but overshadowed by the fruits. Clean and fresh. Good length too. Did not show well the following day though.
  • fizz commented:

8/5/20, 4:36 PM - Hi John, there was a glass or 2 left in the bottle. It was recorked and refrigerated overnight. The next day, it seemed to have lost it's upfront fruits, and was unbalanced. Sometimes I feel that can give a hint about potential longevity.

Just singing. It's a wonderful wine.
  • fizz commented:

12/26/17, 10:54 PM - I think it's easily got 5-10 years in it still. Probably longer. It's one of those wines that's classically balanced. If anything, it's still in it's primary phase, although well in to it! I'd hold for at least a year or 2 before trying.

Tight mineral drive on the bright red fruited palate. Really good line and length, with good material at its core. One taster saw some green tinges. Was shown up on the night by the 2011 Cathiard Malconsorts.
The following day, it seemed to open out much more. Had much better palate weight and drive, and was more enjoyable. Be patient on this one.
  • fizz commented:

5/21/17, 12:56 AM - Yes. On the night, the Cathiard was fresh, bright, balanced, approachable. Just a lovely expression of Pinot. In comparison, the Dujac was leaner, and needed more time to reveal it's best.

Black fruits fade into the tertiary flavours of iodine, leather and earth. However, the Brett here was formidable and in the end was too much for me.

12/21/16, 4:57 AM - I'm likely at the sensitive end of the scale...

45th TWIGS Dinner - "Italian" (Rancho Naidoo - Coffs Harbour): Cork. 14% alc.
Honey/amber coloured wine that smells and tastes like honey soaked figs, with a hint of orange rind. It's quite sweet and full flavoured, much like a Muscat. Ideal accompaniment to biscotti.
Grapes used are Grappoli di Bosca, Albarole and Vermentino. Air dried prior to fermentation.
  • fizz commented:

9/16/16, 12:05 AM - Not sure of pricing. It was brought by someone else.

Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave.
Mid yellow hue. Smells of tropical fruit mainly, with a herbaceous note. Light to medium palate. Initially tastes a little sweet, but this reflects the generosity of fruit. It's certainly dry and fresh. There's a hint of bitterness on the short finish.

9/6/16, 6:32 PM - My mistake! Edited now.

Medium hue, which is bright. Black currant pastille, smoke, graphite. Juicy and intense palate carries some savoury notes. Ever so fine tannins linger on the long finish. Very nice today.
  • fizz commented:

3/15/16, 3:43 AM - On the strength of this bottle, there'd be no trouble holding for 5-10 years. In screw cap too. But it's delicious now. I'll have trouble keeping my hands off my remaining bottles.

Lovely again. Floral, savoury, elegant. Red fruit spectrum. Mild tannins to finish. Excellent day 1, and held up beautifully on day 2.
  • fizz commented:

11/20/15, 3:04 PM - I use the vacuvin device (FWIW!). I'm sure just recorking would be just as suitable.

10/9/15, 3:55 PM - Hi Chatters. I found the tannins to be muscular but well integrated. Not grippy or puckering. There's no lack of volume though. It was full and plush, but well balanced also. This was the 2nd bottle of a case I bought at release.

Vouvray and chenin blanc tasting (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Lemon, honey, beginnings of toast and butter, touches of farmyard and damp stone. In the mouth though the wine is tart there are honey as well as lemon flavours. quite waxy textured but it’s a touch too short for me. Hmm

Lovely, expressive nose. Red fruits - cherries and strawberries. But there is also a dark, earthy, iron component. The palate is intense and is carried by finely balanced acids and tannins. It's got the precise, 'correct', Rousseau stamp of approval. Not a thing out of place. And so much life ahead of it still.
  • fizz commented:

2/17/14, 11:19 PM - The wine is certainly ready to drink. But it certainly has the the ability to age for another few years as well. I'll probably drink my remaining bottles over the next 4-5 years.

  • fizz commented:

3/21/14, 10:49 PM - No. I wasn't there that night. But I heard that bottle wasn't up to scratch.
