Rich, dense crowd pleaser for Christmas. Still tastes young and fresh, from magnum. Third vintage I’ve enjoyed.

On the richer side in appearance, medium fruit, pronounced acidity. Tastes like a Beaujolais. Might improve with time.

I like the previous note, 'a contemplative wine'. Smooth, pleasant, with a hint of wood. Might continue to improve.

It's hard to rate a wine so different from any other wine, so I'll just go with enjoyment value. Exotic nose of fig, Asian spices, jasmine? Syrupy, reminiscent of a good Pedro Ximenez with less fig. Long finish. The kind of wine you could nurse on a cold night, just sniffing and wetting your lips periodically...It is different, might not appeal to all. Serve a little chilled.

Deep, rich cab. minimal decant needed. Tannins fairly resolved. 3 bottles from auction; that's 1% of the entire production! Good stuff!

Upgrading from previous tasting, with a good decant and food. That food being Daniel Boulud's coq au vin, from Dec 15 Wine spectator. Mmmm! (see previous tasting note for the 2013 occultum, which made great gravy...)

a bit of a revelation for me... A Rhone that was yummy! I've had too many austere, tannic Rhones. Looking at my CT notes, I'm surprised to see only 6 northern Rhone reviews, and 76 southern...This was luscious and approachable, like a great Cali syrah. Smooth, full fruit.

Agree with last review, lots of Bordeaux barnyard. Some dark fruit lurks below. From coravin. Will decant longer next time, update score as needed.

Agree with my previous note 2 yrs ago. Chewy tar, not much flavor. Cork was a little raised, maybe shipping issues? Drank 1 glass, and the rest is marinading the coq au vin.

Agree with previous review that this wine was not the most approachable initially, but after 3-4 hrs mellowed nicely. There's that muddy, chocolatey flavor that seems to permeate these syrah/bordeaux blends. Might improve with time. I always wonder how the merlot half will age, compared to the syrah.

The problem with good wines is that they tend to go down too easily, even at 15.7%. Needed 2-3 hours for the meaty tar to calm, then clean, dark fruit emerges.

A year after last tasted, consistent rating. Enjoyed a magnum for 3 nights over 2 weeks, thanks to coravin. Remains a treat, with luscious fruit and moderate oak. No fade here, but can't vouch for the 750's.
