November 11, 2017 - Beautiful ripened and great fruit. I'm not a big Champagne fan, but that's what I like. Nice integrated acidity and a long finish. Drank from Magnum at Decanter FWE London.

November 11, 2017 - From magnum. A wonderful end to a memorable tasting with Olivier Krug. Complex and layered, but great focus and power at the same time. Caramel, spices, mocha, roasted nuts, generous fruit on the nose. Lovely mousse, intense, fresh, mineral, very very long. Exceptionally well balanced and vibrant. No rush, especially from large format. 95-97

November 8, 2017 - Another somewhat off bottle. Not corked or oxidized but less effervescent than it should be and rather dull. This cannot be representative.

October 19, 2017 - Krug 2017 release in magnum owc. Mid/light gold (younger looking than the 1998 in single bottle), classic Krug power, toasty brioche and white peach/nectarine. Wonderfully uplifting with nice sea/minerality on the nose as well. Unsurprisingly, in perfect condition and absolutely delicious. Still feels quite young and in this format there is no rush to drink. Fabulous purity of fruit, light pin prick mousse and lovely rounded acidity to bring it all into symphony. I feel the 1995 is greatly underrated and overshadowed by the 1996 which is very unfair. Always so pleasurable and more thought provoking than the more blockbuster and showy 1996. Certainly not inferior just very different but equally stunning. Bravo.

September 29, 2017 - Mid gold, not as dark as I'd expected; a gentle bead in the glass. The nose is utterly lovely, but quite faint: very buttery caramel, some cooked orchard fruit (bletted medlar, or quince paste?). The taste is rich and full, perfectly poised and complex. Vibrant orange and apple, but in truth it's hard to pick out specifics here. The acidity is soft but well balanced, and there are no sharp edges. It is utterly assured, and totally itself. Perhaps not as exciting or transcendental as I might have hoped, but if only all champagne was this pure, rich, and smooth. Good aged notes, but so much vibrance it is still youthful. Except for the price, it could be addictive. The most expensive wine I've ever had, but still a relative bargain at this price. (Apparently 48% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir, 17% pinot meunier). [Cork + cage; 12% abv; Nickolls & Perks, £300].

(Krug) A very powerful nose, oaky and stony, oiled wood, this already seems like a powerhouse of a wine. Very firm on the palate, with lots of depth, very broad style, showing good depth and promise. Very stylish but very primary and immature, very indrawn and firm. It needs considerable cellar time, but rest assured this will be very impressive when mature.
