March 15, 2023 - A private lunch with a friend (Restaurant De Lage Vuursche, Lage Vuursche, NL): Very deep colour. Quite a masculine style, clearly the product of a warm vintage but the balance with freshness and cool minerality is impeccable, and the blue and black fruit is fresh and crunchy, not cooked or jammy at all. The tannins are firm but carefully extracted and there is no sense of dryness, the weight is considerable but it is not unwieldy. Flavour intensity and length are excellent. Structured and sturdy, but not rustic at all. Already approachable, but should develop very well over the next 5-10 years, and it should easily last for another ten after that.

Rich black and blue fruit, deep minerality, perfectly integrated oak, no lack of freshness, tannins are big but finely textured and not drying, excellent resonance and length. Far too young, embryonic even, but what a wine! Its power and balance are guarantors of a long life. Drink 2028-2048.
