Thursday, August 30, 2018 - Second wine of Ch. Rauzan-Segla. A perennial favourite. Medium bodied, ruby red with very slight thinning at the rim. Medium alcohol - faint legs. Initial nose of earth, purple flowers, red and black fruits, slight smokiness. Quite dry, leather, red fruit, dried cherry, cranberry and tart acidity. Grainy tannins. Bitterness on the finish. Slightly hollow on the mid palate and a moderate finish. Probably fading. Seems like not enough quality fruit to balance out the rest of the elements.
