Even less flattering than a year ago. Perhaps this is in an awkward period or it is just dropping off the drinking window? I found it rustic and a bit edgy. Perhaps it is better to drink these hot years on release since they seem to age prematurely. One blind taster thought it was at least 10 years old which was not complimentary. Drink up or try to sell them if you are long on this....

Actually, I enjoyed this. On the lighter side, but mature now, and turns very velvety and fruit forward in the glass. Few tannins, good secondary notes (dried fruits, a bit of leather).

Not as flattering as my last tasting a year ago. I found the oak quite pronounced (for an old world wine!) and the taste a bit spikey. Good red fruits and quite dark. Maybe a few more years will help?

Wine Education Service - Red Burgundy (LSE): Some aging. Mature nose, a little oaky, sweet fruit underneath - interesting. Oak in the mouth, welcome rather than intrusive, fruity, balanced, smooth and very youthful, quite long. Keep 3-5 years at least.

This is a nice example of Marsannay. Lots of black and red berries, dusty earth, a nice animale/barnyard note on the nose. The palate is firm with the expected firm tannins, but overall well integrated and balanced. The finish is good and leaves a lingering animale flavor that is quite pleasant. This speaks well to the region from one of the best producers. I think this will improve with another 3-5 years of cellaring.

Blind tasting as usual. Dark voilet hue. Nose of sap , wet underground, rich blackfruit as blackcurrant cordial. Mouth less rich than expected; big acidity and strong tannins. I thought it was a cabernet franc ... Hum. I' wouldn't expect those vegetal style in 2009. To young.

Delicious, ready to drink Burgundy without excessive oak. Hot, bloody nose with poppy liqueur not unlike a great Gamay. Similar to a Morgon Cru on the palate which is rich with ripe cherries yet balanced by succulent acidity. I found this tastier on its own than with food. Will follow this one with interest.

Classic Burgundy rasperry nose. Good length, with herbs and some roasted flavours. Depth and complexity increasing with time - next bottle will be decanted a few hours beforehand.

This is addition to the notes from april 4/19/2014
I found a glass in my display cabinet. I put this glass aside to try few days later. 8 cl, foil on top to seal the glass.
And this wine is still alive! Strawberries, herbs and chocolate on the nose. Just wonderful! Very good taste too, yet more subtle and elegant than 4/19/2014. Quite light body. Taste of lingonberries and wild strawberries.
This is a good sign, and I will try to get a case to put away. Just like the 2005 I believe this wine will be lovely with 7 - 8 years of age. I just have to raise the score on this wine. From 88 to 90 or even 91 due to the good performance 8 days later. The 2005 didn't pass "the overnight test", but this wine passed even "the next week test". So put your money on 2009 for this wine.

Perfect bottle Young carmine red. Red fruit. Wild strawberries, red currant, flowers, roses, tea and herbs. Nice flavours, good package, quite good balance too. Not a Grand Vin, but well made Pinot from Bruno Clair.
I will save some bottles for 3-5 years. I was really satisfied with the 2005 when it got some age (7-8 years), and the 2009 is very similar to the 2005 when I tried it young.

2009 Bruno Clair Marsannays (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Slightly deeper color. Classic, discrete fruit tones, gentle earth and a whiff of smoke. The most complete and the most harmonious feel of the 3 wines. Mixed red and black fruit. This definitely has an extra layer of flesh and the most length. Less jarring than the other two. Very, very good.

Very primary and fruit driven. Quite savoury and mineral with ripe doris plum and black boy peach, good acid, a hint of fresh blood. Perhaps not the most attractive terroir flavours but probably true to form. Time should help.

Nose of raspberry, with hints of smoke and bark. Medium-to-full-bodied, with a sweet, slightly cloying entry. Flavours of cherry and lemon, with good, strong acid on the finish. Not brilliant, but big enough to stand up to rich, heavy food.

Some Lower End 2009 Red Burgundies (The Wine Club, San Francisco): Bright medium center. Attractive nose of tart cherry. Light, clean cherry fruit, lower acidity. Good texture and some earth at the end. OK but not a great deal of intensity and everything seems to be laid out on display now, without much room for development. That said, suave for a wine from this commune.

Black cherries, roses, undergrowth and dustiness. The warm vintage shows. Not bad, but nothing amazing.

A few deficits on acidity and fruit and a touch of barnyard. Decent but not enlightening.

Belated note. Nice Pinot; undergrowth and cherries. Well made, but nothing amazing. Can't say this has improved.
