First thing noticed when opening the bottle was a strong vegetal or herbaceous nose. Subsided in the glass. Still red with no apparent browning. Still has a lot of dark fruit on the palate; mellow tannins. Seemed a bit thin. Starting to go downhill so drink up now ..

Clear and deep garnet at this point with significant meniscus. N is powerful and has a herbaceous funk with smells of the forest, bell pepper. Fruit of raspberry and black currant on both nose and palate. Still well balanced with a long finish. Med+ Complexity. Just saw the Turley Cellar Guide come out. Thoughts?

The nose is very layered. Tons of flavors ranging from fruit compote to sandalwood, pastry dough, baking spices and an herbaceousness that just hints at being there. Fantastic nose, but everything was very muted. Would have scored higher with an uplifted nose.
Palate was less interesting. Great balance for being labeled 16.2%. Very concentrated, with tons of fruit being present.
Finish was a little unappealing, as the alcohol came out a bit much.
Overall a great wine. Very fun to drink. Would recommend.

Off the list at Cibo 7. Floral, raspberry, mushroom, cinnamon, dried meat, olive tapenade, garrigue, cayanne. Gorgeous nose right now. Palate is still fresh and lively with distinctive bramble and darker fruit flavors and very good balance...doesn’t feel like the 16.2% alcohol listed (thank god), especially when drinking at cellar temperature. This still has at least 5 years ahead of it, although I wouldn’t anticipate too much improvement beyond its current stage. No sediment to speak of in this bottle, contrary to other reviews. The restaurant had good climate control for their wine collection, so great provenance may be critical for this wine continuing to show its youthfulness.
Very good wine Zinfandel. Favorite Turley in a long time, possibly ever. Great job!

Ueberroth is usually one of my favorite Turley's but this bottle might be a bit past its prime--some sediment, and that richness that usually holds in balance despite the high ABV was turning very port-like.

A big zin. Tons of juicy fruit, not the intricacy I look for in the Ueberroth but still a fun drink. Bold purple fruit, some heat on the edges. Starting to throw a bit of sediment. Would saw drink soon to take advantage of the fruit.

First tasted several years ago at the Wine Vault in San Diego; a 3 course dinner paired with 3 Turley Zins. At that time, the Ueberroth was the star. Was able to buy one bottle at the time. Opened last night and it was as magnificent as I remembered. Deep purple in color, not particularly aromatic, but the polished dark cherry and plum flavors with a touch of oak evolved on the palate. Wine continued to improve over the next 45 minutes showing more notes of bramble and spice, until (sadly) it was gone. Was very surprised to see a 16.2% ABV, no sense of heat at this alcohol level.

Deep purple color with a classic bouquet and flavor of a fine Zinfandel, mixing plum and brambles. Very good nuance, depth, and balance, with a fairly long finish. One of the better Zinfandels that I have recently drunk and showing no signs of age.

Beautiful Zin. Slight sediment - decanted then began to drink. REALLY opened up after a couple of hours! Big difference. Nice nose, floral. Anise, pencil shavings on the palate, medium finish. Slightly tart, dry. Very good classic Turley - drinking well now but I would suspect it still has a couple of years.

Still a baby -- very fresh and fairly tannic. Opens with an hour+ in the decanter. This will age for a long time. On the nose, deep and loamy raspberry, cut with white pepper, brambles, underbrush, and pine. Palate explodes with stewed raspberry and wild berry, with pepper, Indian spice and flinty mineral across the mid-palate. Hold for now . . . great things ahead.

Pop & pour, some vigorous swirling reveals a huge nose of dark fruits, cacao, cloves, and black pepper. Palate has a nice attack with blackberry and raspberry, tons of spice in the midpalate, finishing with a decent streak of acidity. Really big wine that manages to feel light, tons of fruit with a nice savory cut. For me Ueberroth is the greatest Turley wine year after year.

I opened this at our 6/20/14 smoked beef brisket dinner. It had a deep, powerful bouquet smoke, blackberry, black cherry, pomegranate, licorice and spice aromas. The palate was rich, ripe and powerful with flavors of blackberry, black cherry, pomegranate, licorice, minerals, pepper and spice.

Typically Turley? Yes for sure! The nose is all about fruit. Walk into a market and stand at the fruit stand for a while. This is what you get: apricots, sweet banana, orange and kiwis. They are all found in this bottle. But the thing is, Turley manages to balance this explosion with structure and integration in multiple layers of complexity consisting of lavender, orange blossom and subtle but lovely oak. The palate is of course also full throttle but follows through in a consistent way. I think Turley are masters when it comes to handling the Zinfandel varietal. The 2009 Ueberroth is certainly no exception to this rule. A very pleasant acquaintance.

Always a more elegant member of the Turley portfolio, this one didn't disappoint. Voluptuous legs, ruby red and spicy components in the bouquet. Well balanced acidity, with dark stone fruits, especially black cherries, on the palate. Despite it's elegance on the tongue, it provides a thundering finish with some tart apricots and cinnamon. Delicious.

PnP at a local restaurant. Took about 30 mins to take on the signature Turley profile which I like. Tons of black fruits with a little tartness that faded after a short while. Develops a very nice lush, silky mouth feel with more air time. I'll decant for an hour prior next time.

We did a tasting at Turley in the spring, and this was my favorite wine from the tasting. This is a bold expressive Zinfandel. The nose explodes with peach cobbler, and a hint of wet hay. The mouth is pure zin, with a rich body that lingers after each taste. Great stuff.

A big, round, fruit-driven wine, which impresses with size without getting jammy or over-blown. Improved a bit after an hour of air. There was a bit of alcohol detected, but the fact that it wasn't more noticeable is frankly amazing, as this clocked in at over 16% alcohol. The fruit character was so plump and pulpy. Went well with BBQ ribs.

I was impressed by this Turley. Nothing roccoco about this wine. Not Rafanelli old school, but there was an old school character in its restraint and elegance. Beautiful black and dark red fruits laced with Asian spices with really good tannins and acids shaping the soignee of this wine. I enjoyed the wine with friends, but I could have quaffed the entire bottle while reading Keith Richards Biography.

The 2009 Ueberroth is certainly no exception to this rule. A very pleasant acquaintance.

Big, opulent zin with lots of ripe black fruit, tobacco, liquer, and rocks. Delicious but lacking the focus, complexity of the best Turleys.

Delicious.

Wonderful spice and blackberry jam on the nose. A bit tight out of the bottle, but a couple hours in the decanter has this wine singing. More complex than your basic zin. Delicious!

Fabulous! Wonderfully mature but still had solid backbone to last for a few more years. Jamminess has mellowed and is well balanced with the tannin. Does a Zin get any better?

Very good wine. We had it with a wine and cheese evening w/friends. Bright fruit on the nose, snappy spice and berries on the palate. Reasonably long finish. Very satisfying. We all liked it.

Ueberroth, perpetually my favote Turley vineyard but not so much this time. Still big and bold but it seemed to lose some of its flavor quickly

Delicious wine. Opened up nicely after about 30 minutes. Rich, almost velvety on the palate, with lots of dark fruit and smooth tannins.

From 150 yr old vines. Lots of sagebrush on the nose. Earthy aromas with hints of licorice. On the palate, it has wonderful texture, is layered and complex. Very well balanced. Loads of blue and black fruits along with some dark red berry and hints of spice and sage.

I served this in my wine course. Proof than Zinfandel can be elegant! Beatiful nose of cinnamon and rasberry cream. Nice firm mid palatte, fantastistically long finish. Very well structured and drinking extremely well right now.
