Super digg!

PnP'ed. Brought this as a back-up btl to a ABC (Anything but Chardonnay) theme'd dinner. As it was still early by the time we drank thr' the line-up, we decided to open this as well (non-blinded). First-pour nosed a bit "stale", even very faint hints of being corked. Blew off apparently with air. This appeared to be mature. Nosed of tropical fruits and a bit of honey. Palate was however, dry, somewhat broad with still sufficient freshness/acidity & minerality to be had. Still nice to drink, but don't think this will improve any further (but will probably hold for the next few years), so it should be alright to drink-up...

Several recent bottles of the 2010 von der fels have felt quite evolved with low acidity and sweet notes of honey. Since I had several bottles in a row displaying these properties I thought it the natural evolution of the wine. Well, it’s now clear that the curse of premox does not limit itself to burgundies. This bottle is sooo much fresher with a lovely cut to the acidity, tingling, chalky minerals, lemon, apple, pear and, sure, a drop of honey too. Much more complex, and, first and foremost, alive! Great stuff!

Final bottle from a half case purchased in 2011. Mature but lively appearance, full straw yellow colour with golden reflections; the aromas and flavours are completely mature (orchard fruit, pineapple, butter), and the palate is quite broad (even at only 12% ABV), but the acidity feels cold and steely, and this leaves an overall impression of disjointedness. Drink up. To me, this is a further indication that 2010 may not be as great in Germany as many think. The wines are (were) very exciting, with lots of tension and energy, but in the final analysis they were the product of an unbalanced growing season. Perhaps this means that they (some / many) lack the balance for a really long life?
This paired perfectly with nettle soup garnished with shrimp, egg and dill. Quite soft and mature with some sweetness but still energy enough to be interesting. Good stuff, but time to drink up, me thinks.

Not quite sure what to think about this. It shows agreeable mature aromas, more sweetness than usual and the extremely high 2010 acidity -- a kind of Mosel structure. Yet it is a bit disjointed. Surely drinkable, but not quite attractive (the food didn't match well, it should be added). Best on the third day, though it appears from my earlier notes that it was better when young.

Tasted double blind. Brief note. Pours a golden yellow in the glass. Honey coated petrol on the nose. Palate shows searing green apple, tart passionfruit, unripe peach and river rocks. Midpalate is like tropical fruit walking on a mineral and laser-acid tightrope. Super focused and long finish is honey coated minerals and a prominent guava note on the backend. Really lovely.

Rund, men samtidig svært frisk. Kort i ettersmaken.

A few years down the line and this time around even more impressive. Delicious nose with ripe, sweet fruit, honey dew melon, stone fruit, yellow apples, a creamy, buttery note and a light touch of kerosene. Dry on the palate with a very fresh acidity, medium body, high intensity and a long finish. There is still some light fizzyness.

Initially some funky sulfite notes that blows away after a while. Creamy yellow fruit, baked yellow apple, melon, white flowers, honey and melted butter.
High acidity, medium bodied with superb mouthfeel that combines weight and depth with grave and finesse. Great concentration to the fruit and a long, lingering finish.
This is just straight out delicious and probably just in the beginning of it's drinking phase.

Straight as an arrow, precise and intense, chalk and herbs and succulent fruit, a beautifully pure expression of terroir and (including) the growing season which provides almost unique tension, and clearly bearing the signature of the winemaker. Vibrant acidity and mineral energy give backbone to this expertly wrought, mini-version of KP Kellers 2010 GG's. Incredible value for money. Drinking very well with no end in sight.

Time to dance! Extremely lively on the tongue, with pitch-perfect balance of crystal clear acidity, well developed citrus flavours, very modest yet perceptible residual sweetness, and envigorating salty minerality. Dances on the palate, and packs a ton of pleasure. Short message: don't pick these beauties too early. Now is the time to dance. (-2025)

Opened during New Year night. Medium body, mature golden color. Impressive blossoming fruit trees and apples aroma. Ripe apples, pears, lime and spicy palate, long mineral finish. Dry, still vibrant, slightly buttery texture, complex and well balanced, nice acidity. Food friendly, best match is as fish as poultry. Serve 12º - 16º. Drink now.

Kind of a burly dry riesling that has become more accessible of late. My last bottle though I'd jump on a well stored case if I ever found one. Still has that very light straw/gold color with a green tinge I associate with Keller VDF and QBA wines. Always a pleasure. Fills the nostrils with sea spray and citrus skin. Has a granular minerality in the mouth, but now allows subtle flavors to permeate all the dryness. The various vintages of VDF I've had always seemed to go through a dumb phase that made me question those who extolled their ageing potential. This bottle puts it in perspective- VDF is a wine to buy by the box and store. This bottle showed the potential for deep veins of pleasure to be unearthed over time.

Von der Fels '10 has loosened up, fleshed out, and developed considerably over the last two years. We're met by quite a stunning nose with bicarbonate minerality on top, followed by voluptous late-harvest yellow-citrus aromas, pineapple and honeydew melon, basil and verbena. Perfectly balanced on the palate, with lots of ripe extract and just a hint of sweetness buffering the high, zesty acidity. At six years, finally this wine has entered its prime drinking window, and should stay there for another five to ten depending on how much maturity one wishes for. Almost can't believe we paid around €17!

There are many wine estates that would happily have put a GG label on this wine. At KP Keller's, it is just the Gutsriesling. It has taken a few years to loosen its corset of minerals and acidity, but it is now revealing the full splendour of its rich and ripe fruit. The flavours are pure and linear, the wine displays lovely energy and tension and length is very good. Faultless wine making. Now - 2020.

Fin saltsmak i utgangen.

lot my notes here, but I remember a rich and balanced Riesling with fairly good acidity and intensity. More like a GG-style with it's full body and rich palate. If one concider that the price is good.
From the back of my head I would land on 91p. I will retry.

Flaske åpnet dagen før. Grønne epler og sitrus. Frisk nese.

This has taken a few years to come into its own but after five years it has and very delicious it is too. Never exuberant or rich, this is much more about chalky minerality and a herbal quality than about sweet fruit, but the energy, tension and seamless balance are exemplary and for a Gutsriesling the quality is simply outstanding. Really lovely, drink now - 2020.

I tasted this bottle 24 hours after it was opened. My wife had a glass and put it in the fridge and put the cork back in.
I think this has improved since last time I had a bottle. It might be a combination of age and air. The wine has put on some weight, but the key here is balance. 2010 is a vintage known for it's acidity. But the improved weight of this wine and the sweetness combined with the crisp acidity gives the wine a very nice balance. It's not extremely complex and the finnish isn't that long but the acidity makes this a perfect summer wine.

Medium intense nose with aromas of nuts, lemons, cream, gasoline, browned butter, honey, grapes, cookie dough and a little cucumber water.
Light fizz at first. High acidity, but round and with no tartness. Medium bodied, medium+ intensity and a long finish.
This is outstanding! If you are gonna waste Riesling grapes on dry wines, this is how it should be done! Still plenty of life in this, and will probaby gain from another 5 years in the cellar.

Medium body, greenish golden yellow color, aromatic, impressive ripe apples, floral, herbal and spicy aroma, pure ripe apples, herbs, mineral and spicy on the palate, expressive minerality on finish, very long apple finish, dry with natural apple acidity and elegant, still fresh, clean structure, complex and exceptionally balanced, food friendly. Well associated with light fish or sea food or Mediterranean salads or avocado with lemon salad. Serve 12º - 14º. May be drank immediately after opening. 90 poeng.

At almost four years old, this is really starting to come our of its shell, after a herbal and chewy start to its life. Has all the energy and tension of the 2010 vintage; the linearity and elegance, the purity of the fruit and the beautifully expressed minerality pay homage to Klaus-Peter Keller's acribic work in the vineyard and his flawless winemaking.

Just as in 2011, this is much less fruit-forward, floral, easy and cheerful than the KellerRiesling; on the contrary it has a more herbal, mineral and chewy style, but it is fresh, tightly wound and the core of ripe fruit is quite impressive. Balance is excellent, and the wine displays lovely tension; should last 8-10 years easily.

Alcohol :: 12% A.P 33.11. This is one hell of a great QPR. Everything as good as a Keller GG, just smaller in scale. You got all the precision, finesse and purity. The nose is dominating by grapefruits, citrus lemon, white flower and mineral. On the palate, this is slightly lean but with great focus. When it paired with the beef noodle soup, the mouth feel getting richer, towards opulent and smooth like a silk. The saline infused finish is intense and precise. Super Value here.

Decanted for just over an hour before tasting. Medium straw colour. At first a bit shy, but opens gradually displaying hints of smoky minerality, grapefruit and spicy apples. Ever so slightly spritzy (but well within my tolerance), concentrated, structured and long. Fantastic quality from a top producer – and at roughly half the price of the more expensive GG’s this is definitely worth looking into.

Hard to stay off these babies... but we needed a sparring partner to Wegeler's 2010 Geheimrat "J". 2010 von der Fels conveys a fruitier impression, with more of ripe grapefruit structure, and just a tad more sweetness. Both are excellent tens, about equal quality.

Stunning limestone minerality and dense aromas of ripe zesty citrus - lemon and blond grapefruit, with a dash of pineapple. Brazingly high acidity in perfect balance with the concentrated fruit and minerality, with a small twist of grapefruit bitterness but oh so high on stone. Super-electric wine, only getting better. Has put on serious weight since last time. A mindblowing version of von der Fels! Note to self: don't drink any more bottles now, as this will evolve into something (even more) spectacular.

The nose is classy, chalk, limestone, and a deep bouquet of fresh cut apple wedges from all sorts of apples. Brilliant! This is a lovely wine with a nose expressing tons of lime juice and zest combined with pickled cucumber(!?) and subtle elderflower. Though quite evidently revealing this effort is very young, the palate is even more intriguing with a superb balance between fruit and the crystal clear and sharp acidity. There is a subtle youthful and rather adorable frizzante in the very back end of the palate. Overall impression is very positive. This is a must-taste from a super producer. (score is 91-92)

Mineral nose: cold iron and wet chalk. Tight aromas of grapefruit and green apples, asparagus and cucumber, white peach after a while in the glass. Highly engaging acidity which is by no means too "piquant" just very well integrated with the extract and and the dominant minerality of this true "Steinwein". A sizzle of bicarbonate and frizzante mineral water on the slightly earthy finish leaves you begging for another sip.

First half, decanted one hour +: The acidity is now much more integrated, and this is just a delightful wine, with this seething Keller juicy freshness including a little sponti on the nose and lots of playful acidity in the taste. -- Two days later this is even better: excellent harmony and clarity as well as a complex mineral-fruity-meaty nose in the best Keller tradition.

I took this to a family get together at Zabb Elee. Unfortunately I was unable to get a formal tasting note on the wine. What I do remember was a sleek dry Riesling with excellent mouthfeel and acidity. Nice minerals as well. I wish I had been able to give the wine the attention it deserved. So I can't say exactly how it compared to the 09 that I liked so much last year. My instinct is that it did not quite reach that level - but was that the thai spice and the setting talking? I'll have to buy another bottle to see. Right now I put it squarely in the 16/20 area.

Agree with all the previous notes. This is a rockin' dry Riesling and, to me, a bargain in the world of $50+ white burgundy, $50+ napa cabernet and chardonnay, and numerous other high price points. @ $30 this is a steal and will probably last 10+ years EASILY. Keller has really stepped up their game. Go out and find this now.

Just a fabulous wine. Acidity is electric and hair-raising, fruit is ripe and when they clash harmony is complete. And then, when you think it's almost over comes a lovely twist of red grapefruit and a serious minerality reminding me of the low-bubbling french bottled water Badoit. This will probably be lovely after maturing in the cellar, but it's also so good now that I don't want to resist.

Very, very young, a tiny sparkle on the tongue. Fresh citrus, lime, peach with a slight floral undertone. Intense acidity but not a "monster" in my opinion, in fact quite balanced. Lemongrass, lime, and corn husk on the nose. Awesome lively juicy acidity and tantalizing lip smacking minerality back up notes of sweet yellow fruits, citrus, apples and fruit pits. Double decanted and drunk (most of it) over one and half hour. Very shy nose. Extremely fresh and VERY high acidity; beautiful chalky minerality and green fruit. Needs time. - Two days later: Wonderful savoury nose with plenty of citrus notes and very minerally taste with good balance. Excellent now if you double decant it a few days in advance ... but better to wait a few years. - Six days after opening, the last half glass: nose has become curiously yeasty and beer-like while the taste is still perfectly wonderful.

A few years down the line and this time around even more impressive. Delicious nose with ripe, sweet fruit, honey dew melon, stone fruit, yellow apples, a creamy, buttery note and a light touch of kerosene. Dry on the palate with a very fresh acidity, medium body, high intensity and a long finish. There is still some light fizzyness.

Clear, pale intensity, lemon color.

Now - 2020.

This is very young, of course, but still delicious to drink now

Double decanted and drunk (most of it) over one and half hour. Very shy nose. Extremely fresh and VERY high acidity; beautiful chalky minerality and green fruit. Needs time. - Two days later: Wonderful savoury nose with plenty of citrus notes and very minerally taste with good balance. Excellent now if you double decant it a few days in advance ... but better to wait a few years. - Six days after opening, the last half glass: nose has become curiously yeasty and beer-like while the taste is still perfectly wonderful.

Needs a LOT of air at this stage. Despite high acidity levels, it appears well-rounded and pleasing with a distinct mineral touch. Well-made and will probably be outstanding in five years time

Very classic, well integrated acidity, good minerality. Peach, citrus, apple. Unbelievable.
