Stewed red fruits, lively acidity, peppercorns, smoke, touch of spice. The fine velvety tannins were the star of the show though. This one is at its peak. Served with garlic and rosemary lamb cutlets.

This is certainly showing some secondary development though I would caution to open up this anytime soon; a lovely white peppery profile with Vosne spice in the form of clove and cinnamon with dried roses, cedar chest and firewood complexity come to the foreground begrudgingly. I love the acidity/freshness in this wine that work well in counterpoint to the rich, dense red fruit flavors intact. This is one of the most muscular Drouhin reds I have tasted in a while. This is almost demanding food right now as the impression of the tannins and acidity is a bit drying and clipped at the moment. 93+.

This was singing tonight with a nose of crushed strawberries and cherries, just starting to develop tertiary flavours still quite fresh. On the palate it was balanced and delicious but just a little bit shorter than I would have liked.

Joseph Drouhin Dinner (Medlar (London)): Wow, immediately wonderful on the pour. Initially a bit of lilac on the nose, then meaty notes and especially earl grey tea notes emerge which is wonderful. 30% whole cluster according to Veronique which really works wonderful here. A very dry wine with a gravel note, mineral and nuances of a core sweetness emerging from time to time. In a very positive way it reminds me of certain aromas on nose and palate that I found on DRC GE99, a wine I At first my preference over the Musigny but the Musigny gained in stature with air and ultimately besting it. However this GE is a great Burgundy to drink today. Would love to have a bottle and give it a short decant and sample it out of some nice Zalto Burg glasses. If you own this you are in for a treat and I would be pulling corks.

During a walkabout tasting, only brief impressions. Light garnet, the aromas were great here, red fruit, game, earth. Very good complexity, the palate could do with a bit more stuffing.

Filippo's Farewell Dinner (La Trompette, Chiswick): Reticent with brooding dark fruit, with air showing a touch of spice. Still quite firm on the palate with a lovely, composed dark fruit profile, balanced acidity and a good length if still quite firm finish. Needs a bit more time - potentially excellent ***(*1/2)

Drinking at peak. Light ruby in color. Nose of truffled mushrooms, earth and loads of minerals.. On the plate this is power without weight. Just beautiful and wish I had more bottles!

Amy double decanted this in the afternoon and we enjoyed it with dinner. This wine is still a baby. More mineral driven and even a touch rustic at this point in its development. This wine isn't closed but needs time to come together and show its real potential. Great depth and stony presence. Try again in 5 years.

Not a fan of this. I normally really like Drouhin, but this just seemed dull with a stronger oak signature than I usually expect, and no real depth or complexity beyond some simple spice-accented red and dark fruit. Very disappointing.

Delicious Pinot Noir! Paired well with salmon dish. Classic Burgundian nose; well-balanced; still retains good fruit.
