Voyager Estate (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Savoury, dark hued fruits, blackcurrant mostly, sweet spice. Juicy, spicy, blackcurrant fruit, talc textured tannins, fresh, a little buttery creamy note on the finish. Yum. A little tighter on the second taste. Still pleasant though.

Well integrated black fruits with spearmint menthol and mocha. Savoury, spicy, cool and fresh the tannins are now supple and silky. This is complex, profound, well balanced and has a super long finish. What more could you ask? Classy. CHP 93pts

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Massively herbaceous blackcurrant, slight plum, pencil shavings and cream. In the mouth it has juicy medium plus (possibly adjusted) acidity, drying chalky tannins, cream, herbaceous notes and plenty of wild blackcurrant fruit. Nice.

A restrained Voyager this vintage. Plum, gravel, pencil shavings and mint dark chocolate on the finish. Fine web of graphite tannins. Well balanced, with a lot more secondary development to come. I wouldn't expect the score to improve though. Probably at peak now before the fruit starts to fade further.
Not much has changed. Very good Cabernet/Merlot. Dark red through to the meniscus. Berry and oak bouquet, very smooth easy drinking, ripe dark berries, background chocolate, Good acid and tannins with more cellaring potential but drinking well now. The Merlot certainly fills out and smooths the Cabernet. Not sure it is worth hanging on for to see if it develops tertiary qualities. Still think the claimed alcohol of 13.6 might be an understatement?

Cedar and plums on the nose. The palate displays cigar box, plums, blackcurrants and hints of mint and aniseed. Mouth coating tannins and a long finish. Has another 5-10 years ahead of it.

Dark red. Cassis, dark fruits and coffee on the nose. A mix of dark and red fruit on the palate - slightly sweet, with a lick of vanillin oak. Tannins are well integrated.

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep ruby color, with fading rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of black fruit of plum, blackberry and cassis, oak notes of cedar, mineral notes of earth, pungent spice of licorice, maturity notes of tobacco. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium tannin of ripe and silky texture, the wine has medium alcohol, medium body and medium intensity flavors of black fruit such as plum, dark cherry and blackberry, oak notes of cedar, sweet spice of cinnamon, kernel notes of chocolate. The wine has a medium finish. Conclusion: Good quality Australian Bordeaux blend with a reasonably intense nose showing fair degree of complexity, the wine has good balance and elegance, with proper acidity and tannin and typical characters of concentration and a decent finish. Overall a wine of good balance on all fronts, it is ready to drink now though can benefit from further ageing of another 1-2 years.
Very good Cabernet/Merlot. Dark red through to the meniscus. Berry and oak bouquet, very smooth easy drinking, ripe dark berries, background chocolate, acid and tannins to carry it for several more years. Claimed alcohol of 13.6 might be an understatement.

Still lovely deep purple colour with strong scents of blackcurrant. Lovely soft tannins and fruit dominant wine. The oak seems hardly there at all. A bit simple for me but a well constructed and enjoyable wine.

The tobacco and cedar were beautifully balanced and sustained over an hour. Aftertaste was good with a nice bitterness. This is the kind of serious, full and rich wine which you can drink alongside a Bordeaux without embarrassment. 3rd time tasting. This wine has evolved again. Most of the primary fruit notes has been replaced by earthy notes, bell pepper spices, tobacco, cedar notes. Smooth refined tannins.

2nd time tasting. 1st bottle was 3 months back in Oct 2014. It was more fruit forward and sweeter on the mid which i had enjoyed more.
The 2nd bottle: Cassis and dark fruits aroma. Palate is filled with leathery notes, chocolate, cedar, tobacco, earthly tones and vanilla. Mid is quite herbaceous. Tannins are still strong and quite edgy.

Deep red in colour. Aromas of green pepper opening up to dark brambly fruit and cherry with cedar. On the palate black berries, cassis and mocha smooth well rounded finish. Still a long way to go for this wine

Deja Vu Trade Tasting (The four seasons hotel, the rocks, sydney): Bramble, herbaceous, cedar, clove, black currant. On the palate more of the same and medium plus body. The long finish carries the fruit and introduces slight mint and slight eucalypt notes. Medium plus tannin supports. Very good indeed.

Tasted at the 2012 Voyager Estate Masterclass, Taxi Dining Room, Melbourne. A great wine. This had Margaret River written all over it. Full flavoured/body, cassis, cedar, earthy, slightly herbaceous. Long length.

Will last a very long time.

Gorgeous nose, just starting to gain aged character, but mainly lovely relaxed cabernet aroma, with noticeable tomato leaf (is this the Merlot?)
Palate.. same, but richer.
I’m beginning to change my view that Marg River is glacial in development. This is roughly comparable to Bordeaux in development.

I think this is still very young. Really good structure, but needs a little more time to settle. A couple more years to hits its peak I would think.

Lovely fresh varietal, but not simple, wine. A bit soft/dilute in the mid palate. Easy to drink now.
