  • Whiplash from the Spanna. Gushing and open and sweet and floral. Classic Fourrier herbal and green. Dark berries. Blackberry and raspberry. Violets deep and almost inky. Young and spicy on the palate. Dark fruit and spicy and sweet fruit. Crisp and lovely and perfumed. Spicy and a little vegetal and also sweet on the finish. Maybe a little sour in finish but with nice sweetness and complexity. This was classic 2010 and Fourrier but it was just a little too green and sour to be just what I wanted. Nose: 5-5.5/6, Palate: 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.

  • Bright ruby core to garnet at the edges. Mid red fruit, a slightly meaty earthiness that develops nicely through the bottle. Gorgeous fruit and evolving Gevrey complexity. ****

  • This Fourrier was lights out. 2010 is a vintage for me. This was focused and pure with sappy red fruit and a long spicy finish. There was a real feral component to this wine that I was obsessed with. The tannin was mostly resolved and balanced with perfect acidity. I managed to catch this wine in its moment. A real wow wine. It continues to surprise me how well these village level wines show / age. Aged Burgundy is truly special…

For those who aren’t familiar with this vineyard it is at the southern end of Gevrey and it directly boarders the Grand Cru Mazoyere / Charms-Chambertin. A lot of value here, and a very underrated wine in Fourrier’s portfolio IMO.

  • First look at the 10 en Echezeaux. Similar to the Grevrey tout court, starts off quite full and deep with darker fruit, but with air things return to normal and this shows a nice,y earthy, slightly meaty red fruited ness with some sous bois and early development starting to show. A happy blend of Gevrey and Fourrier. ****

  • Opened for an hour before pouring. Pale garnet color. Slight funkiness. Fragrant brambly red fruit, smoke, and herb. Light weight, dull strawberry, soil, herbs, and a touch of citrus. Delicate and fine. Less obviously sweet and more subtle than some Fourrier wines. Right at the point of maturity.

  • Served blind. Translucent brick red. Brown spices and red fruit on the nose that were absolutely beguiling. I had though that it was likely VR because of the spice. Elegant in the mouth with some nice acidity. Surprised to see it was GC on the reveal but I am horrible at identifying wines so... I guess not that surprising and, in the end, Fourrier made complete sense. This is the kind of stuff I love and why I keep emptying my wallet in Burgundy.

  • Bing cherries, cranberries, wood, nice Pinot funk and medium tannin. Tart end of the spectrum. Seems like a classic 10’ as opposed to a ripe 09’.

  • Expressive nose displaying perfect ripe red fruit with a hint of black, raspberry, cranberry, strawberry jam, a hint of blackberry, coffee, incense, a hint of sous bois, iron, cinnamon and earth. Beautifully integrated palate, nicely layered generous red fruit, rich yet silky and polished, perfect amount of acidity and iron mineral, and a long sweet red fruit driven finish with incense at the end. Perhaps another ten years of cellaring will bring out lovely sous bois. However, this is drinking incredibly well. This is a gorgeous village wine that gives me immense pleasure.

  • It has settled wonderfully. Vibrant red fruit driven nose, cranberry, strawberry rhubarb tart, cinnamon and mineral. Medium concentration, very precise and energetic, bright red fruit, good acidity, strong mineral presence and a medium to long cherry and mineral driven finish. Still need another five years to gain sous bois. Really enjoyable in very youthful way.

  • opened and poured, this wine gives and excellent showing. The aromatics shows youthful dark fruits and spice notes combined with some underlying maturing elements. The color is a tarnished medium ruby. The medium bodied palate is expressive and detailed. The wine gives a medium length finish. This is at or around its peak.

  • Very ripe jammy red and black fruit driven nose, cherries, blackberries, sap, dark spices, tree bark, iron and earth. Very good concentration, dense jammy red fruit driven palate impression, strong presence of mineral and iron, good acidity and noticeable structure. For my palate, this seems very gevrey with iron, tree bark/cedar and dark spices. This is a dense jammy wine that needs at least five more years to come together and another five more to again sous bois and other tertiary notes.

  • I agree with "short and confused" on all points..... Fantastic village wine. Fourrier does it again!

  • Floated a trial balloon on this to compare with other recent '10 Fourrier villages. Underwhelming at this stage -- best word to describe it is "muted". Serviceable, though somewhat sappy-sweet fruit. Never pops (day 2 included) on either the nose or palate. Bottle didn't seem off in any way, so its a bit of a head-scratcher. No reason to open again any time soon; try again 2015+.

  • My heavens. I would not have identified this as a village wine blind. Color: Good bright full red. Nose: High pitched red cherries, flowers and spice with lower pitched notes of smoke and earth. Palate: Tangy tiny berry densely packed red fruit. Brisk, pure, elegant- an almost explosive silkiness. No stems here- just beautiful pure pinot fruit. Of note, there is what I can only describe as a hint of bubblegum- but good bubblegum, very good bubblegum. This is why I spend money on Burgundy. 3 bottles left. Should I let them lie in the cellar when it is this good right now?
