Brief note from blind tasting. Enormously dark wine with a very very slight influence of boot polish amongst glorious fruit bouquet. Big dark fruited palate with significant tannin, better to breath longer than we had. Similar structure to a couple of cabernets we had but slightly different flavour profile. Not particularly sweet but rather huge and structured. Impressive. Great length from the weight, tannins, acid so a great food wine.

Smoky tobacco and raisin on the nose, hint of dried sage, moving to a surprisingly fresh palate with blackberry and hints of cranberry, featuring absolutely lovely acidity. This is still surprisingly grippy and very fresh. I was worried it would be over the hill, but it is advancing glacially. There is nothing particularly secondary or complex that has rewarded 20+ years in the cellar, but I do recall this was quite a bit more rambunctious in its youth.

Regrettably, this bottle, stored in temperature controlled storage with an impeccable cork, lacked any discernable fruit, elegance, nose, body or finish, and consisted of a dark amalgam of tannins and silt. Decanted for two and a half hours before serving with dinner, and continued to sample for another two hours, with no improvement.

Had high hopes of course but ultimately this was just OK. Cork macerated and had to be pushed in. Wine filtered into duck decanter. Inky purple. Muted nose. Classic big priorat profile, extracted and clumsy. Overall monolithic and would not have stood out against similar wives. Definitely still holding well for close to 20y. For the price (close to $100 I think) I would say meh.

My 2nd bottle and this time I didn’t gave the wine too much air. This clearly favours the wine. Concerning this app drinking window ended a couple of years ago.I disagree. It was perfect right now but won’t get better probably. Delicious, very balanced.

Slow ox'ed for 1 hour. A bit red ripe fruit to start and didn't really shine until more than 1 hour later. That's when the acidity and freshness kicked in and displayed layers of minerality and red fruit. A notch or two below the bottle I had +4 years ago, but still a very good Dofi. A proper, longer decant would have probably helped the wine. Drink or hold.

This one improved a lot since I had the last bottle. Dark red color without any signs of aging. Not much on the nose and not much going on on the palate when I opened it, I found it a bit high on acidity and a bit rough on the edges, but insane how it improved after decanting it for a few hours. Dark fruits on the nose, dark cherry, vainilla and dark chocolate on the palate.. comes in layers, nice and complex. Silky texture and lingers on forever. For me thats one of the finest wines I´ve ever tasted and I think it would still have developed in the bottle... but unfortunately that was my last bottle from 2001. Loving it.

Nose of dark fruit, alcohol, and chalk. Old dark fruit on the front of the palate, with a largely empty middle, and a very short but hot finish where the alcohol overpowers. I'm not sure what this wine once was but it isn't much now. Similar experience across two bottles.

Tasted double blind. Expressive nose with minerality, slate, ripe red fruit and chesnuts. On palate this is quite tannic, it holds a lot of acidity but with a wonderful balance. Not rounded yet, it may need some more time... on palate doesn't seem a 11 y/o wine at all. It ends with a slight dry, medium finish primarly made of red fresh fruit. The freshness on mid palate was outstanding. (92-93).

The color is still very dark despite the age. Amazing intensity of fruit on a texture of dense yet refined tannins. Hard to believe this beauty is 11 years old! Lots of complexity and length in the mouth - my wine of the year, too bad this was our last bottle!

Double decanted for two hours. Dark ruby color. Nose shows ripe fruit aromas, minerality, wet stones, smoke, ash, varnishes. With time in glass gains intensity and more clear, fruity aromas. On palate it's medium bodied, tannins almost completely integrated offering a smooth, glove-like palate. Sweet palate, medium acidity, minerality, candy, licorice and more red ripe fruit. Finish was remarkably long. Compared to a bottle from a year ago, this was much more rounded and lush in palate, whereas nose and finish were very similar. (91-92).

Pre-vacay tasting (Home): Double deanted for 3 hours. Dark cherry color, very thin rim, nice color. Priorat like-nose, dark ripe fruit, black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, eucaliptus. On palate entry is smooth but then you feel as you crash into a brick wall...stones, thick layers of minerality, high acidity, fresh, a bit tannic and overall red fruity. Medium to full body for a medium finish. It's very good now already but should get better in a couple of years, still plenty of life ahead. Give more decant time (92-93).

Dark purple in color with a nose that starts off as dense but dramatically improves after 20 minutes of opening as it unravels ripe berries and flowers. Full-bodied on the palate with a creamy texture that's tame in alcohol yet remarkably displays ripe black cherries and raspberry with hinst of chocolate and vanilla. I agree with Eric's note in that it took this wine about 30 minutes post-decant to start opening up. Mr. Winetex rated this at 89 at the beginning of the meal because it was flat and one-dimensional. After about 30 minutes it opened up and the slight kirsch flavors became penetrating black cherry and the minerals kicked in. After that the nose and finish came along. A very good wine that handled a challenging food match with ease. [~$55 at release; Drinking well now but will short-term hold; Decant at least an hour in advance]

I had this with rotisserie chicken; sauteed brussel sprouts; and rice pilaf with sauteed crimini and caramelized onions.
At first, I was not terribly impressed by this wine. The nose was reticent, slightly leathery and funky, but not yielding very much. The palate was tight and mostly showed red fruit and tart acids. The structure was apparent, but the wine seemed awkward and unyielding. For the next hour it didn't change a great deal, and then, out of the blue, a sniff suddenly made me say "WHOA!" I mean a big, serious WOWZA kind of "WHOA!!!" From out of nowhere, huge notes of lilac and crushed raspberry were pouring out of the glass. The palate still showed loads of structure with a long, dusty finish, the kind that sticks your front teeth to your gums. However, the depth laser focus were unreal with loads of sappy, ripe, pure, raspberry fruit. Rich, powerful, and primary, this absolutely drenches the palate in minerals and tart fruit. Wow, I have rarely seen a wine wake up so suddenly, and what a terrific surprise after a slow start! If this wine had one word to say about itself it would be "GARNACHA", a clear chorus of pure Grenache, wowza!
I would wait 2-3 years before trying another, but this is a love-fest already if you give it a couple of hours of air.

Tasted at Biodynamic growers tasting NYC. Sweet fruity nose. Very dry and tannic. I may be underrating this from palate fatigue.
