Very light in color despite its age. Beautiful nose. This has definitely integrated and become more drinkable over time although the alcohol is noticeable and a bit out of balance.

B This is the L 170 which is a blend of two vineyards. Quite dry and with lovely spice and floral notes on the nose. In the mouth it has even more spice and with the acids allowing a Long finish. Simply lovely. It can probably go for another year or so but is perfect now. I'm glad I have one more bottle.

Proper storage since release. This was an L170 bottling and was firing on ALL cylinders. SOOO much going on with this wine. At the perfect junction of primary and secondary. The nose is textbook gewurzt. The palate is just so full of personality. This wine can likely go for another decade, but why risk it? Drinking it now will delight you in every way possible.

Dark hue of staw yellow in color. Nose of apricot and a whiff of petrol with some floral notes. Initial flavor of honeysuckle and peach with a syrupy sweetness. Mid-pallate kicks in quickly with strong notes of lychee fruit that linger into a long finish. Overall, better than when this was young.

This has integrated nicely but still a good wallop of acidity and alcohol. Just enough sweetness to complement spicy food and very floral. A nice bargain even if it wasn't very drinkable on release.

Very, very nice. I should have bought a lot of these. I don't generally drink a lot of gewurtz but all of a sudden I have a bunch of things that they pair nicely with. Notes are the same as last week - very floral, almost sweet, with some white fruit. It paired nicely with a sweet pungent dish. When by itself it has a nice chalkiness to it that makes it interesting alone as well.

Medium-dark gold color. Heady floral aroma of roses, lychee, peach, and yellow plum. Palate is densely fruity and floral with rose, lychee, peach, and an oily element that carries into a long finish that shows some bitter grapefruit pith notes. Consistent with prior experiences and holding well. Worked as a base for a mussel and clam broth with saffron in it. Drink.

A beautiful nose with stone fruit, black licorice, floral, honey, citrus, and spice notes. Stone fruit, honey and citrus on the mid-palate lead to a crisp, mineral driven finish with black licorice accents. A very nice Gewürztraminer that paired well with a grilled rosemary, garlic chicken.

What can't you like about this at this price point. Great summer drinking wine. A bit flabby and off balance but not because of alcohol level. The nose (gorgeous - of flower bouquet) and the flavors of rich fruit, lychee, and fruit cocktail outweigh the flabbiness of the wine. Overall very good for the price point. Would buy more just to have a round as easy drinking, fun and quite enjoyable wine. Good job again Zind-Humbrecht.

Golden yellow. Unbelievable aromatics at this stage showing a great blend of clean, fresh flowers as well as lychee and some peach. One you can sniff forever. The palate is not close right now as this showed some secondary fermented fizz out of the bottle which really distracted from anything else. After some time in the glasses this got a bit better with peach and pear and some fresh, clean notes, but this needs to rest or even decant to really show what it is capable of. The problem there is this is pretty low in acidity and I don't know if this entry level bottling is going to hold up to that treatment.

Medium yellow color, slightly thick consistency. Typical aromas of rose and lychee lead into a sweet palate that showcases the lychee with yellow flowers, and meyer lemon. Finish is medium-long carried by the heavier texture of the wine. Between alcohol and acid, this cleans up at the end and I find it to be full-bodied in an enjoyable way. Drink.

This is totally Gewurzt for me! HUGE florals of lychee nut perfume, muscat, peach and orange...as well as a cool pepper spice kick. Seems like it will be sweet, yet it's bone dry! LOADED with tingly lemon acidity...it really tames the sweetness and gives it a nice savory balance...bringing out what really makes the wine..the florals! Also shows complexities of smoked grey salt, honey, and mango. A go-to Gewurzt at go-to pricing....killer wine!

This is a real go-to $20 white wine for me because it seems to consistently deliver throughout the vintages - I appreciate the consistency - peppery nose with citrus notes intermingled, and a zippy palate of white pepper, spice, lemon-lime, and maybe a touch of honey.

(Last supper dinner at Balzac) Beautiful nose of rosewater and lychee, hint of melons. Soft luscious body with some minerality (shale sand), with focus and intensity. Elegant, but not quite subtle, with wafty honeyed perfumes arching all over. Impression of a floral sweetness, and pleasant mid-length finish. Perfect with roast skate! Sunset in a glass.

Big pungent spicy nose with floral elements - very classic. A big bold and quite gingery flavour too. The only surprise was that this was bone dry. Deep and intense, great length but I prefer a little residual sugar in Gewurztraminer.

Notes from memory: Golden in the glass. Wild aromatics of tropical fruit and characteristic Gewurz spice. Full bodied, fleshy, and a little fat with sweetish tropical fruit on the palate. This is tasty if you are not in the mood for something subtle. I'll buy more and share it with wine novices or people who don't think they like white wine.

Intense aromas of lychee and longan fruit. Very dry and a bit boring on the palate. A bit lacking in acidity.
