Decanted about 4 hours, drank over the next 24. The cork was perfect. Tasting notes similar to last year. This wine has held up beautifully and is drinking very well right now. Doesn’t have the overtly jammy taste. Good balance, surprising aromatics.

rarely purchase USA Cabernets as they are really not my style. My palate is more akin to old world wines from the Médoc and La Rioja in Spain. My local liquor store had been bought out and they were selling high price US wines heavily discounted. I saw this for $39 and I thought I would give it a go.
Decanted for 8 hours and wow it was still overwhelmingly powerful! Too much alcohol and too fruity “sweet”! I enjoy wines from the Rhône and Toros & Ribera del Dueros from Spain which have the same 15% alcohol content, but this is just a very un-sophisticated wine lacking complexity. I don’t understand why people pay three or four times what I paid.
I can see why some people like it, but it is just not my jam (it actually tastes like jam! ;😉)

I’ve been drinking down some older bottles of Caymus from my cellar. This particular bottle was quite outstanding. Still a fruit forward wine, but not a fruit bomb by any means. Very well balanced.

Had this with grilled ribeye steak for father's day. It has aged well and is drinking beautifully. It's a justification for buying good wine and bedding it down in the cellar for 10+ years to let it age. Very smooth and easy to drink with ample but not over riding fruitiness. Blackberry? Delightful but mild tannins mid-palate and through the lingering finish. Has undertones of minerality throughout. Paired perfectly with our ribeye.
This spring we tasted a 2021 cab at the new Caymus winery in Suisun Valley, CA (near Napa) but because of its youth I thought it snarled at me a bit. But any tendency to that has long gone from this nicely aged (Napa) vintage. Have one bottle left but probably won't leave it too much longer.

A color as dark as Egypt's night; virtually impenetrable center.Wood and Brambles on the nose; the sweet smell suggests that it is highly extracted. On the palate woodsy, tannic, with a bitter after taste. Not really a pleasure to drink, and not a good QPR either. Not my taste.

Inky dark. Nose is muted. A bit of wild raspberry and confectionery notes. Thin on the palate. Boozy. Tannin creeps up the back end. Sweetness on finish. Not much fruit left. This wine seems to be falling apart. Clearly not intended to age this long. Wouldn’t hold it any longer.

This was very good. I think it is on the way downhill but it was very smooth with a slight enjoyable dryness and deep dark fruit flavors. Crowd pleaser for sure.

Outstanding cab. Full bodied and very smooth. Decanted for an hour. Wine improved over the three hours it was drunk. Fig flavors forming a mellow and long finish. Long legs.

Now I understand the criticism of this winery. It’s big and bold and full of flavor and if you don’t know wine you might think this is what good grape juice tastes like. In my opinion it’s really fancy fruit punchy sangria. On the nose I get blueberry pie, blackberries, and those black cherries you get in fancy cocktails. On the palate lots of acid and tannins. I’d say more tannins than acid. Flavors of blueberry, cooked black fruits. Velvety and juicy. This is high end

See my note from February 2021 basically same. Headed downhill and time to drink. Detected some hints of vanilla and I’m not sure I want to detect that in a 12 year old cab. Still enjoyed it just not my style or favorite.

From a magnum opened 4 hours before we went to dinner. I guess what it comes down to is I am just not a fan of the Caymus wines. A lot of fruit and that sweet taste on the finish just did not do it for me. My guests enjoyed it as the magnum slowly disappeared. I served it along with a magnum of the 2007 Robert Keenan Cabernet Franc which was definitely my preferred wine. We all have our individual taste buds.

I’ve been drinking some older bottles of Caymus, 08, 09 & 10 (this). I’ve been pleasantly surprised, not a heavy wine, by any means, but still plenty of fruit without the jammy characteristic of younger vintages. Drink up.

Drank well. Needed an hour decant. Not sure it gets better than it is right now. These California cabs are not my preferred style, but I enjoy once in a while. Some dark fruit and licorice. Not a lot of earthy flavors coming through. It did compliment my charcoal grilled ny strip nicely. It did get better as time passed and I went thru the bottle from the decanter.

Surprisingly subdued for a Caymus. Fruit seems to be fading without replacement with strong secondary or tertiary aspects. Still a good wine. Nose was also muted. Nice legs and medium finish.

Colour is dark ruby with aromas of earth & sweet black fruit. On the palate ripe/soft cassis, blackberry & a sweetness caused by well integrated oak. Balanced off by medium to high acidity & medium to high approachable tannins followed with a long finish. ABV did not seem as high as the 15% listed. Lovely wine!

I prefer the older vintages of Caymus. While the 2010 was on its way to the style of current vintages, it wasn’t completely sold out to extracted purple syrup. This is drinking great now. Fully mature.

Medium-to-Full bodied with rich dark fruit on the front balanced with wooded notes of oak and tobacco. Very smooth due to age with refined tannins and a lingering finish. Really wish I had more bottles from this vintage to pull from.

Typical Camus. Medium, ruby color in the glass. Nose of ripe plum and berry. Deep, robust black raspberry, coffee, chocolate, oak and creosote on the palate. Full bodied, fruit filled with a lingering finish. Nicely integrated tannins. I tend to hold on to Caymus too long. This is in a great place right now.

Next to last bottle of the case, very nice fruit, dense, concentrated, dark berry, lacks structure for the long term, if you are looking for a Napa cab to hold for 20 plus years this vintage or any recent vintage of Caymus would not be recommended, (0 views)

Tried a double decant on this bottle based on fair amount of sediment.
Got the wine back into the bottle after about 10 minutes of decant and then two hours in the open clean bottle. Fun to see how this changes things since we have been drinking this wine about once a month of late.
It seems like this process softened the fruit a bit to my liking but preserved the nose. Still very full body and holding up well. My highest rating for this vintage. All the things that say Caymus are still there but the evolution of time seems to me to be pushing this towards a more traditional flavor. Or maybe i am just over thinking it, hahaha.... Either way its dam good and fun.

Seven years since my last note. This wine has completely changed and for the better. Not as extracted as my previous bottle. Fruit is front and center. You either love or hate Caymus, I'm of the former opinion.

Drank this during a 6 bottle blind tasting. Group thought I was cheating since I called it out as a 2012 Caymus cab. (It was a 2010) Not that I am a som, not a chance. Just that the Sweet Vanilla and heavy fruit syrup yet soft tannins just speaks Caymus cab to me. Haven’t had one in two years but read all the reviews here and most are spot on. Just a bit out of Balance for my taste. Was drinking this with a weak chicken dish so that probably hurt the wine a bit. Bottle was opened about 90 min but not decanted. Thinking that more time in the cellar and longer decant May give this better balance. 8 of 10 in our dinner picked this wine #1. I had it #2 with a Cade cab #1

Dark, dense and dusty. Fantastic structure and heft, even eight years down the line. Then again, the 2010’s are supposed to stand the test of time. This one certainly has some years left. I’m glad I still have two bottles.

Opened for about an hour before pouring, I find myself wanting to use the same discriptions in favor of the 2010 as those who dislike this controversial cab. No doubt this is intense, dark, rich, extracted, over the top, with loads of sweet vanilla, welchs grape jelly, like it or not there is a lot of everything. Paired quite nicely with a 2" thick charcoal T-bone. One thing is for sure vintage after vintage this wine continues to be the ultimate crowd pleaser!

Very pleasing to the nose, loads of dark fruit. Palate-wise, I wish I could say it was an explosion of flavor but it's really too fruit-forward with very little secondary characteristics. My wife likes the wine, which means the tannins are soft and there's loads of fruit. Not a showstopper but still a pleasing bottle.

This is my last bottle of the 2010 PRE-syrupy mess Caymus. I have not drank Caymus in a while and this reminded me why I use to enjoy it so much. Rich Caymus purple with a nose of blueberry, cherry, and vanilla. Similar on the palate with a dose of cassis. This was a pnp at a restaurant and improved with air. I suggest a 1 hour decant. As most have said not super complex but that is not why I drink Caymus. I drink it for the rich, tasty fruit and the smooth supple delivery which this wine had in spades. Such an easy drinker and went well with a juicy burger. Would I bring this to a party of wine aficionados? No!!! Sometimes I don't want to think to much about what I am drinking and my wife loved it and that usually makes for a nice evening!
Nose was dominated by notes of cocoa and black cherry, however there were some subtle traces of vanilla and red licorice after just over 1 hr decant.
I agree with the assessment that this vintage is drinking a tad one-dimensional right now. On the palette enjoyed notes of brambleberry and chocolate, and mild cassis. Tannins were still fairly firm and left a bit of a harsh finish but generally speaking drank like a classic Caymus. Definitely wasn't the most complex but still certainly enjoyable to drink nonetheless. Enjoyed with roasted lamb in marinated in rosemary jus.

5th bottle opened, 1st bottle open 4/14. This bottle was a bit one dimensional, with big blackberry fruit, cassis, some new oak, probably short term, thus the vanilla which is less prominent than previous bottles, the finish was harsh and disjointed.

This has faded quite a bit. Not bad, but far less interesting than it was several years ago. Fruit has receded a bit but this is still quite big, but no longer vanilla or mocha notes. Smooth, but no real interesting secondary notes at this point. Alcohol is well-integrated, but tannins and acid lacking. An easy drinker, but better wines for half the price are readily available, even if you really like this style. Fine; just not at all impressive, and a truly terrible QPR.

Decided to finally revisit after a number of years. Purple fruit - dark cherry, currants, blackberry, and a little plum. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth. As usual, fairly rich and sweet but at least the fruit didn't come across over-extracted and over the top like some recent vintages. Fairly long finish. Popped and poured but drank over a couple hours. Not much improvement with time but at a nice drinking point.

After a 1hr decant which produce a fair amount of sediment this bottle was singing, gobs of dark cherry, dark currants, dark plum, dark chocolate, the key word here is dark, the finish was long smooth and integrated with hints of sweet vanilla oak. Paired perfectly with marinated lamb chops, based on this bottle unlikely to improve but should last for several more years in a cool environment.
Its been about 3 years since I last tried the 2010, and I haven't had much interest in Caymus lately as I feel that although they are always excellent and consistent, I started to find them a little boring. A friend opened this up and I was blown away by how much more interesting this was. I didn't take detailed notes, but I remember the flavors just exploding and there was no sense of oak at all. Finish was strong though a little shorter than I remember. Drinking beautifully now and I am sure has plenty of life left. Shame on me for thinking I was beyond what Caymus can bring.

Decanted one hour. Still fresh with plum, cherry and earth nose. Fruit well integrated compared to the perhaps overblown rap Caymus has received in recent years. Light wood, medium dark fruit. Perhaps more like a heavy burgundy: a food wine. Worked beautifully with filet and blue cheese/chive sauce. Agree with others that after the fruit disappears, the appeal will recede. Planning to drink the rest of this case in the next three years.

PNP, brought this for my birthday dinner at my favorite Peking duck restaurant. Very nice showing with duck, rich, concentrated with all the sweet, intense Caymus traits. Dark currants, rich dark plum, black cherry syrup, very minimum tannins, with what little tannins there was are masked by the intense fruit. Drink in the near future while the fruit is fresh and so prominent, secondary flavors are likely to be not all that pleasant.

The 2010 Caymus Cabernet Suavignon currently has a 92 point rating with both the CellarTracker community and Wine Spectator. My hopes were a bit higher than the experience delivered, as such my personal rating deviates from the above ratings. I enjoyed the wine, but I didn't give it an opportunity to aerate and I didn't always store this bottle at the appropriate temperature over the years. This may have impacted the drinking experience. I'll revise this rating if I acquire the same vintage in the future. As of now, I rate 2010 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon as 88 points...take this with a grain of salt. ---------------- Rating Scale: Extraordinary (95-100 points); Outstanding (90-94); Very Good to Excellent (85-89); Good (80-84); Average (75-79); Below average (70-74); Avoid (50-69)

ONE OF THE LAST OF THE GOOD YEARS FOR THIS WINE. LET THIS SIT TILL DECEMBER 2015 AND IT WAS VERY SMOOTH, DARK, BUT STILL VERY JAMMY. COULD LET THIS SIT FOR ANOTHET COUPLE YEARS AND IT WILL BE BETTER.
Caymus in a good year which is often is a quintessential Napa cab. Young, but drinking nicely now, and not necessarily saying "I'm going to last and last" so I will open the next in six months to see. And enjoy. Not distinctive but surely good.

Strained for sediment (had some) and decanted approx. 30 min. ... Deep purple, bordering on black. Velvety smooth, blueberry cream is the predominant note here. Rich and plush, with a very dry backbone, but not much acid. Some nutmeg spice and a smidge of earth. Started a bit hot, but blew off as the evening wore on. This is all about the fruit and the lush, plush texture. Definitely not something I'd want everyday, there's a certain pleasure to this as a cocktail wine type sipper. Absolutely representative of the style the winery popularized, this is an easy drinking, if quite polarizing, pour. For me, there's just (barely) enough backbone to keep this interesting, others that we shared it with declared it their all-time favorite wine. But it's hard to argue with those who call it a blueberry milkshake fruit bomb. It's also hard to suggest it's an even halfway decent QPR at $50+. Still, once or twice a year, it's an enjoyable porch or fireside tipple.

I don't know if it's deliberate or just happened, but to me Caymus has morphed to a fruit forward, drink-em-young, no-need-to-wait kinda' CAb. Recent offerings are a bit on the sweet side for me, but guests absolutely love 'em when I open them up, so I'm drinking these young.

Opaque purple, bricking ruby. Deeply scented nose of black currants, cassis, conifer, and wintergreen frames generous amounts of root beer and licorice aromas. The lush fruit flavors have a dry, youthful edge that give depth and breadth to the thick, rich, opulent, and teeth staining palate. Air brings it all together but cellaring will bring out its best. Decant.

Took this to a local restaurant and paired with bone in NY strip, with roasted Brussels sprouts. way drier, than the bottle I tasted on 4/14 with loads of currants, casis, black cherry, plums, vanilla, with big time spice. Not anywhere near as sweet and jammy as I remember. This bottle still has some tannin to integrate. This bottle unlike most Caymus/Wagner wines appears to have the structure for short term aging!

One hour decant. Sexy profile with currant jam and the tawdry American oak is a bit more pronounced than last year. Typically not the style I go after, but I can't deny the Caymus appeal. I actually think this wine is best for its flamboyance within 2-3 years of release, but I suppose I'm the minority. I suspect some Petite Sirah is blended into this wine, but even that would have to be some decent fruit. The Caymus tech sheet suspiciously makes no mention of varietal composition. Typically, Napa Cab will have a splash of another Bordeaux varietal and the tech sheet states such, or they brag that it's 100% Sauvignon which they didn't do either. Que Sirah Sirah?

Decant 1hr, paired with 2" bone in chops. When I am in the mood for a jammy cab, Caymus comes to mind, the nose is flowery, smokey, plummy, with just a touch of alcohol. The palate is rich, jammy, with currants, cassis, plums, with a long smooth, slightly sweet finish.

Big jammy Cabernet from Napa. Dark purple in the glass and a nose that goes on for a long... long time! Dark fruits, leather, spice box and vanilla co-mingle nicely.
The palate is lush and well balanced. Again the dark fruits are predominate and well integrated with cassis, leather, spices and vanilla. The longer this sat in the glass the more it opened to show what it has including an ever so slight hint of herbal flavors.
I'll try to hold these for several years and enjoy the show it will put on down the road.

I will caveat the review with the fact I ate excellent barbequed pork ribs with this wine and it went perfectly with the pork ribs. This wine is very dark. Dark plum and dark cherry aromas. The initial taste is explosive with jammy dark fruit. You can taste the jam on the side of your tongue. Very long lasting flavor. The wine is very well balanced. No heat at all. Very enjoyable experience.

Leather to the fore. Milk chocolate, créme de cassis, some cedar, black fruits, blueberries and tobacco fills the nostrils. Sweetish to taste with a blanket of mature fruit, some blueberries and sweet cassis. Moderate structure and a medium+ finish. Good but not a legend. I wouldn't keep this wine too long, it's drinking good already and I don't think it has the structure to last a very long time.

Usual vanilla and coffee notes on the nose. Dense wine, full body and showing a lot of fruit but still a little green. Midpalate a little hollow, with alcohol showing on the finish. Will need some time to integrate all this together, but at this point feels a little disjointed.

Review from last September could still apply today. Really good wine but is just missing that something extra to make the wine special. A little more sophistication or a second layer of flavor(s) could vault this wine from a 93 to a 96-97. So close. Still, it's wonderful and drinking well now.

This wine, while consistently very good, seems to be universally overrated (perhaps it would be better manners to say that this just isn't my style). Dark red almost black with clear purple rim; fruity open nose, dark fruit and berries with a bit of dark chocolate on the finish. This is always a crowd pleaser, but sometimes too sweet for my taste, but this is toned down a bit from the 2009, which is a plus for me.

Lovely to look at, with fine depth of sweet red and dark fruits, and appealing toasty oak treatment that partly smooths the hot alcohol. Not a classic style, but a simple crowd pleaser that can be enjoyed now for what it is, or it might hold together for a few years while the elegant yet ample tannins integrate a bit. A lengthy decant is beneficial. DKD brought to Trulucks SD.

Vanilla, Cola, and Cocoa fill this outstanding bouquet. Creme cassis predominates the palate with nuances of tobacco. Velvety smooth, chewy, light tannins lead into a medium-long finish of oak, boysenberry, and chocolate. Has potential to age.

Dark red-violet color. Brutally young California cabernet. Nose is a potent waft of vanilla, mocha, cherry, plum, olives. On arrival, it's texturally an early drinking style, with low tannin and low acidity, but that presentation shifts quickly upon development on the palate and time open in the glass. Medium-grained tannins rise quickly. Strong wood and fruit flavors wrestle for attention: chocolate, toasted cocoanut , vanilla weigh down the plum, baked cherry. Finish is a bit wood-heavy for me. This needs a few years to integrate a little better, but it's likely to be always a bit of clumsy version of Caymus, certainly compared to the 2007-2009 versions.

Super sweet fruit and oak. Went great with crab puffs dipped in plum sauce. Really not a "Napa Valley Cabernet," more like an ambiguous red that's over-ripe and over-oaked. Similar flavors to a Manhattan- cherries and bourbon. (NOT varietally correct.)
It is what it is, and lots of folks love this wine. In Asia, they mix it with Coke. Whatever, it's successful for a reason: People talk dry and drink sweet.
Drank at Ocean Prime tonight. Very good nose of black fruits, black berries with some vanilla. Light-medium bodied where there are more black fruits, cocoa, and ripe blackberries and cherries with silky tannins envelope the mouth. Medium-long finish. This was really good tonight with the filet mignon. Can't go wrong with a Caymus cab.

This is a beautiful Cab. It's a very rich, very smooth, berry filled wine - not too dry and yet dry enough. It is most likely the best Cab I've ever tasted. I have one caveat. It MUST be chilled to the right temperature and decanted to achieve its full potential. My girl and I had it at room temperature, and it was not the same wine.
If Dr Pepper or Robitussin made wine this would be it. Prune jam vanilla tones on the nose and on the palate. For my taste, undrinkable. Had it with steak at Wolfgansg's in NYC. Did not help that we drank it after a 2006 Lynch Bages. Others in the table thought it was "ok". Reason why I did not score it lower.
OK, I know this wine is young. Too young. And I think I know what a "young" wine with potential is. This ain't it. I was really disappointed with this wine. Was hoping to try a well-know, young, CA Cab to see if it's worth buying volume for longer term cellaring. This wine seemed overly hot, overly concentrated with no hint of balance, depth or potential. I decanted. Double decanted. Triple decanted. Tasted it very slowly and gradually over 3 full days. It never showed any life. No depth. If I didn't know what this wine was, I'd guess it was a Zin. The mouthfeel, flavor profile, all said Zin, or even Petite Sirah.

Much different than first try with this. The high alcohol and Bourbon-like flavors were not there and this was pure lush fruit. Massive, powerful and much more approachable like I've seen with most other vintages of Caymus. Not sure if the first bottle was a little off (though I did enjoy it) or just so young. This was one of the best Caymus' I have had and look forward to see how the rest will evolve.

Nose of deep cassis spice, and ripe blackberry. Taste was similar. Lush black fruits, blackberry, fig with some light vanilla. Did have a pretty good minerality in the middle and finish. No real tannins to speak of. medium body. Very drinkable now.

Drank with friends and was by far the favorite of the night - all were impressed. Deep and rich with mouth-coatingly silky tannins reminiscent of valley fruit. Highly recommend.

At Chase wine tasting event. Dark red almost black with clear purple rim; fruity open nose, dark fruit and berries with a bit of dark chocolate on the finish. This is always a crowd pleaser, but sometimes too sweet for my taste, but this is toned down a bit from the 2009, which is a plus for me.

Big fan of Caymus in general. As consistent a wine as I have found. Some years a little better than others. But I have never found a really bad year yet. This was not as good as the '08 but better than the '09 IMO. But as always, a crowd pleaser.

Purple like the grape skin. This wines had notes of cherry on the first day. On the second and third days the wine released a little more bringing a vanilla essence.

I really enjoyed this extremely young Caymus. The deep purple was reminiscent of blackberry jam. The acidity was well balanced and the tannins were definitely present however not overly harsh and with time in the decanter they did soften around the edges. Really big fruit forward napa cab with definitely oak present that pushed heavily on the finish. Now liquid oak is a bit harsh and I disagree but I can see the oak monster peeking in on this one. The finish lingered for well over 30-45 seconds and I will not be opening another of these for at least 8-10 years. The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Medium.

California Wine Country with Jill for our 30th's; 9/9/2012-9/15/2012 (California): Taste at the winery. Classic Napa nose. Dark cherry, leather, coffee and cigar. Some dark spice and dark stone fruit too. Young nose. Some chalky qualities on the palate but royal and elegant. Caressing and not too hot but stiff. Needs a year or so to settle down or at least a good decant.

The wine was very smooth as you would expect from Caymus. I had opened with wine and left the cork out for a few hours prior to drinking. The comment from our table was that it lacked taste. Yes it was smooth and went down easy. I could not help compare to 2008 which I thought was amazing from Caymus. When I drank that one I knew it was a winner instantly. I did not have that feeling. Perhaps, it can develop more with proper aging, but we will see.

Two hour decant. Dark color, even for a cab. Very fruit forward. Medium tannins. Easy to drink. Heavy & thick in a good way. Shows good balance but lacks that "sophistication" one expects from a $65 wine. Enjoyed the wine and will get a few more bottles.

Did a back to back vertical tasting with the 2009 to discern differences. The 6 of us agreed the 2009 maintained rich blueberry pie, caramel and vanilla dominant flavors. The 2010, still rich and mouthcoating, poured darker and had a streak of black licorice lingering in the background. Less blueberry pie, but still strong caramel and vanilla flavors. Half of us liked the darker more brooding 2010, the other half favored the 2009. Thoroughly enjoyed both!

Tasted with grilled skirt steak and potatoes. Thought it was classic Caymus and maybe a bit more concentrated than 09. Needs a little time and make sure you taste at cellar temperature - about 60 degrees. My God, this wine goes so well with steak!!!

As usual w Caymus, this bottle was rock solid. Vintage to vintage this is one of the steadier high-end wines in Napa, IMO. When in doubt, reach for the Caymus regardless of vintage. I cannot say that about many other wines. Yes it's syrupy, it tastes like cotton candy, it's soft, it has tons of vanilla... The 05 Paul Hobbs was a better wine tonight, IMO. But it is always a crowd pleaser, even when you don't tell them what it is. Far from the best wine in Napa, but one that leaves many smiles in its wake. Enjoy, we did tonight at Hack-Ma-Tack Inn on the Cheboygan River.

Popped, poured, then decanted. DEEP red. First tasted greener than previous vintages, but more full bodied too. Familiar vanilla and creme de cassis which I like. Still green and slight tannic after an hour of decanting. I guess it will be more complex to some and I guess the tannins will make it hold longer - I guess. I like the weight, but I prefer my Caymus with less tannins, however I bought several bottles and I won't be taking any back. I am not a holder but will try storing this one for a few years to see what happens. I loved the 06 and 07, thought the 08 and 09 were not as good. This one is different, it has the weight of the 07 but not as easy to go down. ...well the right food my change that...

Drank head to head with Caymus 09. The 10 is very different, very tight tannins, extra layer of complexity not present in the 09, not as fruit forward as the previous 3 vintages, reminded me a bit of the 06. Definitely needs some cellar time to let the tannins open up, this rating could be low once it has some age.

Very dark red color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes with rep from winery. Bottle had only been open about 20 minutes. This was quite tight, grippy tannins, not showing the lovely fruit Caymus usually does. I was disappointed in this initial showing despite the lack of decanting. While this may become attractive down the road, I'll wait and see. Certainly very austere compared to recent vintages. Score reserved as this was not properly treated, but current impression would not hit 90pts.

Really enjoyed this wine. Big and rich with nice layers of spice and dark fruit. Very smooth and easy drinking. My wife thought it was a little on the sweet side and could have benefited from a stronger tannic presence. She still liked liked this wine but didn't enjoy as much as I did.

I was fortunate enough to try this wine at the Caymus vineyard. It blew me away. I kept looking at the bottle to make sure it was a 2010. Great plum and dark cherry on the nose. A full mouth feel and long finish. This wine never disappoints. I bought a few that day.

Opened, not decanted about 5 hours prior to pouring. This was very interesting and not typical of previous vintages. The nose was very strong of black currant and high alcohol, actually smelled a little like Bourbon. This was very interesting and not offensive. Taste was similar with layers of dark fruit and black licorice. Got better and better as the night went on. Obviously way to young, and will evolve. Didn't get the vanilla/oak like previous years. Still an amazing wine but I don't think this will drink as well while so young like other Caymus'.

This is a big, rich and bold wine that is drinking surprisingly well for such a young cab!! Well balanced, with a lengthy finish and very enjoyable. Paired nicely with beef tenderloin and lobster. Should improve nicely with some additional bottle age.

rarely purchase USA Cabernets as they are really not my style.
I can see why some people like it, but it is just not my jam (it actually tastes like jam! ;😉)

Group thought I was cheating since I called it out as a 2012 Caymus cab. (It was a 2010)
Not that I am a som, not a chance.

Rating Scale: Extraordinary (95-100 points); Outstanding (90-94); Very Good to Excellent (85-89); Good (80-84); Average (75-79); Below average (70-74); Avoid (50-69)

Big jammy Cabernet from Napa. Dark purple in the glass and a nose that goes on for a long... long time! Dark fruits, leather, spice box and vanilla co-mingle nicely.
The palate is lush and well balanced. Again the dark fruits are predominate and well integrated with cassis, leather, spices and vanilla. The longer this sat in the glass the more it opened to show what it has including an ever so slight hint of herbal flavors.
I'll try to hold these for several years and enjoy the show it will put on down the road.

The initial taste is explosive with jammy dark fruit. You can taste the jam on the side of your tongue. Very long lasting flavor. The wine is very well balanced. No heat at all.

15% ABV stated, probably 15.9%.
