Jammy nose of black raspberry, blueberry, and light floral notes. Black cherry, blueberry, cinnamon, and wet stones underlaid with a wide drive of acidity - not too tart but wide across the whole tongue, adding some light bell pepper notes as it flows into the finish. Dried herbs, fully resolved fine tannins, and plum pass quickly on the relatively short finish. Improved in the glass even after a short decant, but drink up if you have any left!

Dark garnet with only a thin brick hued rim showing it’s age. Upon opening the nose was totally dominated with the leather notes, with some dried petals and tar. After half an hour in the glass a distant jammed red fruit note has appeared. On the palate very soft and delicate, with most of tannins gone but still good acidity keeping it tight. Long, pleasant finish. It’s still good, but I wish I’d open it a couple of years earlier…

Wine seems a bit closed, drank it in two days, after some decanting the wine seems to open up. Colour: ruby red almost purple On the nose: dark red fruit (plums, cherries), earthy, dusty and something like green bell pepper On the palate: ripe fruit, cherries, spicy, a hint of pepper, oaky, still a bit tannic
Somehow I expected more of this wine, maybe some cellaring would have added to the development, but I am glad I finished my bottles.

Subsequent notes on this wine from over three years ago. Deep, dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & aromatic nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, dried herbs, spices, some anise, dark cocoa, minerals & a touch of cedar. Medium-deep bodied with a good concentration of smooth textured & well balanced, lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals, cocoa & a touch of oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but should develop slightly further with several more years of additional aging. It has aged quite well despite its immediate accessibility upon release. An indicative blend of Merlot & Syrah.

Purple color. Clear. Punchy nose donut ared by red fruit and oak. Slightly astringent initial mouth feel quickly evolving to oak and tannin as fruit fights to the surface. To me toak and tannins are too dominant. Cherry, sour cherry, and dried cherry dominate the fruit with some overtones of earth and leather. With modest changes it could be much better. I question further aging will help resolve the oaky tannins.

A bit boring to begin with. Watery and thin. But after 20 minutes of air, the wine shows power and concentration to fit the dinner of wild deer steak. A bit prominent alcohol both on the nose and the palate. Good but not great.

Consumed over 2 nights with seeing lots of air on first. Dark cherries, blackberry, dusty soil, dried leaves, and cured meats. Over 2 nights this moved away from the fruit profile to more savory olive/cured meats. Held up well.

So I read the TN's and got worried that this wine would be past prime.Rushed to open one today, and yes,it probably was a lot more flamboyant before, but I think it is in a great spot right now.Classy, the fruit a little subdued but very nice nonetheless. It has the tannins for another 5 years, but I don't think it will improve.Next time I get a new vintage of this I'll try it right of the bat to see if it really could be better younger.

By the glass at the BA lounge. A year since we crossed paths before with this wine.similar experience overall albeit a touch easier on the palate. Still a purple hue around the rim. Nose is still shy and muted. Palate is well silky on the tannin front with just a few notes of a hot climate but no raisins at all. Again a good wine but lacks any sense of magic. 89 and drink now.

Cigar and red fruits on the nose. Flavors of black cherry, raspberry, burnt wood, earth. Quite subtle, but feels quality and well structured. Pretty smooth at the moment, and drinks very well. A solid, decently priced Tuscan red wine that I would buy again.

Old World Blind Tasting >$40 (Bin 75): Dark core with thin bright maroon rim; tart fresh berry, red and dark fruit, vanilla, spice, young; broad palate, lower acid, cassis, currant, spice, good tannin, plum, structure though softer; more delicious than previous encounters with this wine.

Weekly tasting group #118; Italy: Bolgheri (@ CvR): Beautiful and complex bouquet with red and black berry fruits, herbs, sweet spices, some cherry yoghurt because of its youth and earthy flavors. On the palate mainly dark cherries, the acidity of red currants and slightly sticky tannin. Very youthful still. I would wait until at least 2017. At this moment the bouquet is the best part. 89 seems a correct score and there is potential for a bit more.

PnP at Bricco. Pretty austere at first but did come around after about 1/2 hour or so. Tannins were pretty tame and dark fruit sat in the background to cassis and some earthiness. Nice finish. The wine had a nice balance with it and went very well with a striped bass with wild mushrooms, garlic pesto and black truffle. But it was clear that this wine was in need of some cellar time or at least a good decant.

Tuscany Wine Club (Our apt): This was the group consensus WOTD and one of my favorites as well. It was opened a few hours before and then decanted for prob 1.5 to 2 hours before drinking. By the glass and surprised to see it at the BA lounge. Quite a muted nose at this stage good and by that we mean not overdone , ripeness and the wine feels very round smooth and on the fruit. Definitely an early blooming wine, enjoyable but lacks the magic. Solid nonetheless. 89

Still slightly austere at this stage. Began to show after 90 minutes it's pedigree with ripe plum and black cherry with extended finish. Other vintages are more refined but give this one 2-3 more years and it should settle down though I don't think it will gain more points.

Competently made, somewhat lacking in quality fruit.
Initial nose was unpleasantly acidic. After decantng and venturi over two hours, fruit and especially sour cherries came out in a smooth set of aromatics. Mouthfeel owed a lot to smooth merlot notes; tannins gave a longish finish but overall this does not justify the price

Retailer tasting: Beautiful bouquet with earthy impressions, dark and red forest fruits and some licorice. On the palate juicy dark fruits as well, salty licorice, mild and round tannin. Already very enjoyable. Will improve with some ageing. Try around 2016 - 2018. 89+ for today.

Bought it at a restaurant. Had high expectations given the price and region. It had good color, and was complex. But, raw on opening. We let it decant for 30 minutes, and it got better, but never reached our expectations.
Let it sit until 2015, and try it again.

PnP, served with dinner and consumed over the next few hours. Fairly tight nose with just a little earthiness showing through. On the palate getting jammy blue/red fruits, a little mushroom and oak. Mostly hit by the drying tannins from an impression though. Don't know what to think of this. Got a great buy on these; perhaps I can sit on some for a few years.

Nice nose of berries, sour cherries and a little spice. Cherry and spice follow through on the palate and the spice goes all the way to the end. Spice was less noticeable with food but mor dominant now. There's also a good minerality to it.

Ordered by a colleague at a restaurant. I've noted the debate as to whether this needs a long decant or is just a but flat -- afraid I'm coming out in the latter camp, even though we did not decant. I know the wine fairly well, and fear that this vintage lacks a richness and depth that one would expect. Time will tell, but only for the brave...

Short decant. Smoke, oak, vanilla, cherry, some tannins. I'm not a fan of the blend on this nor how it was made. It tastes like the 3 varietals were bolted on to each other and just not integrated at all.The syrah dominates the palate more than the other two and the (charred?) oak is strong. A new world wine. Like an earlier reviewer said, this wine is somewhat flat and the acidity not high enough to contribute to structure nor age.

After reading the notes below, maybe we didn't let this decant long enough (we started drinking it after about 15mins breathing, and drank over the course of an hour) as it was flat, not very complex or rich or intriuging. It wasn't bad, by any means, and paired well with our Italian fare. But my expectations fell quite short.

Young and not much in the nose at first, it opens into a full, round complex palate of earth, tobacco and mushroom and a long dry finish. Drinkable now with a few hours of decanting, it needs more time in the bottle to reach its potential.

On the nose closed at first, then dark fruit with ligher topnotes. Some oak, cedar and a touch of mint. Stringent mouthfeel with fresh acidity and lumbering, darkish fruit underneath. Feels very young and I would recommend a few years of bottle age. This vintage seems a lot less open at release, and also more elegant than previous ones.

Young but very attractive, good weight, sweet fruit, hint of coffee, forward, lead pencil, spicy oak, glossy, good balance and refreshing acidity, soft tannins, slightly loose, modern and perhaps somewhat specious but impeccably made and with good length.

A wine ready to drink today but without balance and harmony. Disappointed at the sprawling structure. Nose is weak and a little acidic. An overpowering fruit makes this resemble a south american blend rather than the refined tuscan it should.

Spicy dark berries in the nose. Soft and silky dark fruit flavors with a pleasantly cherry finish.

The nose contains leather, spices and berries. The taste is very dry, fruity and intense. This wine is drinking well now.

Crown Liquors High End Tasting (Coral Gables, FL): Dark fruits, delicious. Smoke, bramble. Needs another 2-4 years and should be wonderful. (Doris liked this wine)

Basically popped and poured. I got a sour / green taste, maybe even to the extent it was a bad bottle. The wife liked it, however. It was undrinkable, but again, totally flat and off. Got two more, so will have to give it another try.

Completely uninteresting and irrelevant and way too expensive. Light cherry smell and taste. No depth or complexity which you would expect from a wine at 30 euros.

Nice color. Mostly merlot with a really good nose.
Black cassis mixed with leather - Italian leather.
Quick finish - bold upfront. Great with olive oil
