Restaurant purchase, no formal notes. Medium black cherry hue. Fresh fruit flavors on the palate are nice but rather simple overall. Clipped finish. 82-84 if scoring.

This has been good in past vintages, but not this time. Earthy, slight cherry fruit. Was totally overwhelmed by a red sauce pasta (and if it doesn't go with this, what good is this wine?)

Blind Sangiovese Tasting (Living Room): Scents of apples and minerality, much lighter than I expected for a chianti. The wine is very straightforward when tasted. The fruit is simple and a little dirty, and theres a hint of something kind of "off" with this, but it doesn't hurt it too much. Decent, but nothing fancy.

Blind Sangiovese Tasting (Dan's Place): Smells like the kitchen trash basket, rotten cherries, and graphite. Soft and creamy on the palate, developing some tannins. Light cherry fruit also present. Quite dry on the finish, but showing some nice acidity. It all covers up the fruit quite a bit though, so not much is showing through. Not too interesting.

Had this with Shrimp Creole, which was a bust, because the wine cannot stand up to something that spicy. It did turn out to be a very good wine though, once dinner was done. Very fruity - cherry; acidic and no tannins. Would go fine with spaghetti, or other (not too spicy) pastas.

Cherry and similar fruit in the nose along with earth and vegetal notes, and a little astringent medicine. Fruity, earthy, and relatively tannic with a heavier body.

Had it with a spicy Italian dinner. Nose was almost non-existent. Taste was ripe fruit with present but not overly firm tannins. Not bad for the price.
