Allowed to breathe in a bottle for 90 minutes before approaching. Wine seeped up the bottom fifth of the cork, and was heavily crystallized.
Bordeaux-like nose of musty cellar walls offset by ripe dark fruit; A nice mix of old and new world. Wine really shows its age on the palate with mature fruits well-integrated into a fading back bone. Wouldn’t wait wait much longer to drink this, but it’s really good right now. We enjoyed this both before dinner and with our three hour smoked tri-tip. This could go beautifully with any steakYeah still enjoyable on its own.
Would not decant this, nor would I recommend drinking beyond 2022 for optimal enjoyment, at least based on this bottle which was a gift from good friends.
Thanks Ben and Kim!

Popped and poured. This wine showed on the thin side, rather plain. Parker described it as “deep yet also weightless” and gave it a 93 point score… well one out of two I agree with. This Cab is weightless, especially on the palate, but depth? I don’t discern that aspect. Plums and some dark berry fruit show but the wine is thin, really lackluster for the money and rather basic and if this was about half the price, I would call the wine good at best. There is just not a lot to talk about here, especially considering the price point. Not impressed.

Third of the blind red wines at this quarter's S&E Wine Club, which for red was either Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc or Merlot from either Rutherford or Stags Leap District. Thanks Dave and Jenna!
Dark ruby core with garnet edges. Candied cherries on the nose with dark cocoa and a touch stinky. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with dark berries, spices, bramble berries and black cherries. Long and lingering finish. A bit stern even with a four and a half hour decant. Drink till 2027.

Decanted 2 hours. This definitely needs more time in the cellar and could have used another 2+ hours in the decanter. It was still very tight, but enough evidence that something special is underneath

Shared with a friend at dinner and we both loved it. the color was dark burgundy, rich taste of berries, chocolate with a hint of tobacco. Really smooth on the finish.

Good bottle of wine with the typical soft tannins of the Stags Leap District that I got when I was a wine club member. Is it worth the money....absolutely not. Would I buy it again...absolutely not. For the price, I'll stick with the regular Stags Leap bottling.

Blown away by this. Sampled as part of a larger tasting on a Tuesday night, when it impressed. But I got to keep the rest of the bottle and revisited two nights later and was totally blown away. Gorgeous balance, a certain loamy quality and that unmistakable cocoa note found in great SLD cabs. Really, really outstanding, and with years and years to run. 95.

Tasted again at the tasting room in Napa, beautiful complex cab with an elegant balance of fruit and oak- long lingering finish- tasted on the same day as the 2009 beaulieu clone 6 and the george de latour private reserve, and this was the clear winner.

Loved it. Clean vibrant fruit on a nice bedrock of smooth tannin. Sediment at the bottom so maybe unfiltered? Got it as part of their wine club. More expensive than I typically stock but I wish I had a case.
