Opened for 2 plus hours before drinking. A lovely mature burgundy with length , depth and complexity. I would guess this has a few more years in it before it peaks but quite wonderful now.

This was my 4th of 5 bottles and it was pure magic. The first three I’ve drank never really showed and remained tightly wound to the point that I was ready to write this wine off as a victim of the sub par vintage. I haven’t had one in 18 months, so I decided to give it another go and bang! Beautiful aromatics. Spice, pepper and cove on the outset with high acidity that has finally mellowed giving way to a parade of black and red fruits that persist for a truly stunning finish. Truly mind boggling how beautiful this wine was given the fairly average showing the last bottle provided. Wines and experiences like this are what make Burgundy so seductive. - Note: I drank this over 7 hours with no decant. It really hits its stride about 2 hours in, and tasting the evolution was part of what made this such a thrilling wine. It peaked about 4-5 hours in.

Night 1: all about spicy, herbaceous forest floor and dry wood. Light-bodied and a bit tart. It was ok, but didn’t ring my bell particularly (what can I say, I like fruit). Coravined.
Night 2: it had mellowed, with emerging black fruit, quenching wood-sting/pencil lead and tooth-gripping medium tannins, all in balance and interesting to the bottom of the glass. Everything I look for in a red Burgundy.
I had expected a write this bottle off, but was surprised at how good it was, outshining a simple (even simplistic) fruit-forward 15’ Dujac Chambolle villages.

Magnum. Ouvert et bu. Superbe couleur framboise. Arômes de cerises, de framboises et d'épices asiatiques, nez séducteur. Belle structure, plutôt fine pour un NSG, moyennement complexe mais plaisante et assez corsée. Beaux acides et minéralité. Tiendra facilement 10 ans. 92-93

Wow, this was an amazing bottle. In the AXA stable, with Mr. Seeley overseeing things, Domaine de l'Arlot produces some pretty stunning, if unheralded, wines. This was no exception. Just starting to enter a great drinking phase, it is rich (in Burgundy context), with medium-plus body, some still noticeable oak touches, and more dark fruit than red fruit on the palate, plus a lovely spice quality. In very good good balance, and with a good deal of persistence, this is impressive for the price paid ($65 from Wine Cellarage). Wish I had bought more than just the one.

I bought this bottle recetly on a trip to Burgundy and was highly recommended by the shopkeeper. She really knew what she was talking about. Despite being a meh vintage, this bottle showed what great producer is able to do. One of th ebest & most memorable wines i have ever had.
I had left the bottle open for 45 min. And only after the 3rd glass it really started opening up. So i would reocmmend in hindishgt to decant it for 45 mins. Defintiely ready to be drank. But still has a couple of years.

Jean-Pierre Reniard Burgundy Wine Seminar (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant): Tasted in Riedel Burg glass. 1st wine after lunch. And this wine is simply en pointe! Defies the vintage. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasty wood, woody spices, fresh earth, ripe dark red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), structured medium+ almost high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of stemmy spices, dark toasty wood, undergrowth earth, rich dark red cherries. Very long but neat finish. Very good quality NSG 1er. Lots of rich dark fruit stuffing and other complex stuff in it. Probably the effect of the clay topsoil in this plot. Will clearly age well over the next few years.

Outstanding! Ruby colour, slightly cloudy. Nose: very seductive - fresh raspberries, red cherries, earthy notes, licorice, then rose petal and herbs. Palate shows velvety tannins and more fresh forest fruits. Long finish.

Not as good experience vs the previous bottle I had last year. More oak sensation than previous bottle, and finish was a bit flat. It still got the dark berries, spices, structure like a NSG wine.

On the nose, leather, cherries, tart, and minerals, on the palate, fruits were generous and elegant, acidity was modest, smooth tannin, leather and crushed purple flowers. They only weak point is the modest oak on the finish. I think they did a good job overall in 2011 vintage. Would be interested in trying their recent vintages since they had a new winemaker and she focuses even more reducing oak influence.

Showed very well tonight, beautiful tart berries with both earthy and Stoney mineral notes, spices and purple flowers on the nose, wonderfully elegant fresh texture in the mouth with lots of acidity and length

Lots of depth on the nose, spicy, red and dark fruit, earthy notes, floral notes, minerality. On the palate again rather generous, lots of structure, good acidity and balance. Lingering finish with a bit of dryness towards the end. Very good. Drink or keep. 91-93

375 off the list at Post Ranch. A hint of that '11 green at first, but it just needed a little time to open up. Drank well by the the time they dropped our mains.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $60+ (Alpharetta, GA): Darker core with bright maroon rim; perfumed, violets, dark cherry, raspberry, a bit young and reduced, great density, dark and a bit tarry, love the texture; tannins are a bit young, seemingly fatter, slightly reduced, spice, darker riper fruit, cloves on the finish; tasty.

Pretty and expressive aromatics of dark red cherries, blackberries, tobacco, some graphite and earth, some spices and dried flowers. It's medium+ bodied and dense, with medium-high acidity and medium+ tannin. Good length. A very pretty, complex and dense NSG 1er from this kind of difficult vintage. Showing really nice but has the stuffing to age for quite a few years.

Luminous, translucent ruby red color. Relatively light and restrained nose with obviously rather ripe aromas of sweet black cherries, some juicy strawberries, a little bit of toasty oak spice, light mocha tones and a hint of brambly strawberry. Contrasting the subtle nose, the wine is quite big, powerful and voluminous on the palate with a relatively full body for a Pinot Noir. There are very ripe, sweetly-fruited flavors of black cherries, dark forest fruits, some juicy strawberries, a little bit of toasty oak spice, a hint of extracted woody bitterness and a hint of rough, earthy Pinosity. The mouthfeel is rather soft and mellow with moderately high acidity and quite ripe and easy medium tannins. The finish is quite soft and rich with moderately long, ripe flavors of black raspberries, sweet cherries, some juicy dark berries, a little bit of sweet, dark-toned oak spice and a hint of balancing sour cherry bitterness.
A rich, very ripe and quite hedonistic 1er Cru Burgundy with a lot of volume. Although I don't find the rich, sweet fruit tones that disagreeable here, the wine overall comes across as a bit too plush and oaky for my taste - with higher acidity and less woody character this would've been a very nice, ripe, early-drinking Pinot Noir. Now the wine feels a bit overdone and fruit-forward for my taste. It is undeniably enjoyable and nice, but nothing I'd fill my cellar with. Feels too expensive for the style at 69,70€.

The nose was dark and rooted in the earth, showing dried flowers, crushed fall leaves and animal musk upfront. Dark-red fruits mixed with savory herbs came to life in the glass, adding excellent depth to the bouquet. On the palate, it showed amazing density contrasted by gripping tannin with crushed berry followed by notes of soil and undergrowth. The finish was impressively long with dark-red fruit lingering on the senses.

Burgundy Tasting (Ivy, George Street, Sydney): Cream, spice , ripe red fruit, new oak, vanilla, toast, almost mocha touches. On the palate ripe red berries, new oak needs time but balanced. Very nice. Slight warmth and spice on long long finish. Very good in fact.
