Dark red in colour. Plum and dark fruit nose.Resolved oak. The fruit is soft. Not so much front pallet, but the mid and back palate are still there with fresh full fruit. May be at its Apex, but still some years to go if the cork can hold out. My Cork fell through into the bottle after using the Coravin a couple of times.

Ill second my previous note only add that this bottle had passed beyond apex. Fruit dried out, but felt like that happened some yrs ago. Better luck nxt time.

A surprise wine served from a magnum. This was clearly Bordeaux, and perfectly Saint Estephe. So correct in form, this was was full of that irony and chocolaty character in a savory and correct way. It was the favorite wine of many casual drinkers at our informal wine adventure dinner with good company. If blind, I would have guessed 1996 Pehlan Segur....Dont hold this, its at the top of its arc in magnums and probably on the slope in 750's...DRINK

As compared to earlier tastings, this bottle had lost some of the robust fruit that had made this wine so successful in past samplings. Probably bottle variation, but might be time to consume.

The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blueberry, cranberry, dust, forest floor, cedar, oak and clove. It tastes like blueberry, cranberry, dust and mushroom. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Leather, black fruit and earth on the nose. Deep black fruit, tobacco, a bit of dank strawberry and succulent liquored blueberry tart on the palate. This is just hitting its stride. Great now, and no reason to wait on this, particularly if you aerate for a bit. Also don't think this is going anywhere soon. This bottle was still delicious on day 3. Think this will probably continue to coast on for at least another 5 years, maybe considerably longer. Excellent now, however.

I thought smashing. Good nose. Typicity. Palate full of secondaries and some spice. Some tertiaries too. Solid mouthfeel. Vanilla. Let the oak integrate and it will be raging qpr somewhere round 2022.

PnP. Old-world style Bordeaux showing signs of evolution. Pleasant, evolved, easy-drinking Bordeaux. Approchable structure (round tannins, moderate acidity and alcohol), classic flavor profile with tertiary notes somewhat starting to dominate the palate (plums, cigar, earthy, pine). This is in a good spot, I wouldnt wait much longer to drink as this lacks some depth and concentration (vintage effect?) 89

It has some tobacco and mocha on the nose. The palate is surprisingly smooth, blackcurrants, some smoke and freshness, with the tannins almost resolved. It's pretty damn good and is drinking well now and this will get better as those tannins resolve 86 Points but with room for improvement

(Liberty Wines portfolio tasting) Nose of toasty mocha that I keep going back to. Could stand her and sniff this all day. Crunchy black fruit on palate leads to toasty oak. Has a good fresh note to it. slightly higher cab to merlot blend I’d say. Decent drop

Decanted for an hour and consumes over a period of another hour. Dark fruits, leather, a tiny hint of underripeness maybe but really very good. Paired very well with cote de boeuf.

Very direct cabernet Sauvignon on the nose, maybe not the most structure but enough for now as it is drinking really well and gives a lot of immediate pleasure. some mocha notes blended in with the cassis. Quite a bit of merlot in this which probably softens up the wine somewhat, in addition to the effect of the vintage, but aroma-wise you can't really tell. Very good stuff with some grilled lamb.

Everything's here you'd expect; brambles and blackcurrant, lashings of toasty mocha coffee and bitter chocolate, a touch smokey as well plus it's all tied together with sappy acidity and soft, well-rounded tannin. It's fairly light in style but makes a great vin de plaisir for mid-term drinking ****

Very good value for $17.70 from the now-seemingly-defunct @WineDeals instagram account of Wine Library. I'd buy more of a quality St. Estèphe like this any day.
