Drank from cellar with Wally. Light spice and currant nose. Deep dark purple. Soft even presentation middle of oak and touch of blackberry chalk chocolate coffee. Very complex beautiful 20 year old wine. 9.5/10.

Another gift lost to the back of the cellar for too long. Expected it to be past drinkable, but was pleasantly surprised to find it still standing. Mostly oak on the nose. No tannins or finish at this point, but mildly interesting fruit flavors in mouth. Wish I had tried it in its prime.

Awesome. Slightly musty, cavernous, black licorice, blueberry opening nose. Honeysuckle later, followed by the marmalade jammy jam. Full, yet silken mouthfeel. Yet later, I'm wading thru a lush cranberry bog. Incredible sour patch kids lead into rock candy flashback about 3 hours after opening, culminating in cotton candy. Strawberry syrup comes oozing out in the aftermath of the fruit bomb.
Definitely not past its prime.

Deep, rich color. Swirl coats the glass, producing thick legs. Blueberry, black liquerice and some must on the nose. Thick mouthfeel with lush berries, which evolved into honeysuckle and mandarin marmalade. Long finish with sugared cranberry in the aftermath. Worth the wait.

- Violet color and aromas of violet, blackberry and black currant. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry and black currant with a light/medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - This drank very well. With aromas of black fruit and similiar fruit upon tasting. The wine had little tannins remaining and probably slightly past its peak. It was very smooth and went very quickly.
I have been drinking these for the past few years and think they are at or slightly past their peak. Very light tannins bordering on being too thin but drank very easy. Very nice soft fruits with a great nose.

Cellartracker Over the Hill and In the Woods Party (Judith's House): Very dark red/purple. Great nose, floral, cassis, mulberry, earth, violets. Nice velvety mouthfeel, good concentration, elegant, cassis, earth, round integrated tannins, mineral. long finish. This was from a magnum and was wonderful. My WOTN and group WOTN. 92+pts.

My palate was off tonight. Though the wine smelled lovely it was sour and bitter to my taste. I revisited after champagne and a wonderful escargot with wild mushrooms. With my palate thus recalibrated the wine was good. Black cherry, chocolate and tea, but tannic.
I'll drink my last bottle of this soon, as I don't think the fruit will outlive the tannin.

Only 2 left of the 1/2 dozen bottles I bought in 2004. It remains complex with dark berries up front and a smooth, lingering finish. The color is now almost dark purple and the aroma is earthy. A truly enjoyable blend of cab, merlot, & cab franc.

A nice bottle of wine. Lingering tannins are very smooth. Wine has maintained complexity, but was very subtle. Got a lot more out of it after we finished the steak. Delicious fresh black rasperies, milk chocolate, and clove. I think I will drink my last one soon, with a little cheese or by itself.

Nice cherry on the nose, otherwise muted fruit. Peppery mid-palate, creamy texture. Tired. A really nice blend, if bit on the hedonistic side. Completely shut down in less than an hour in the bowl, turning raisin. Drink now. Passed prime.

Bright brilliant fruits, tannins still present and a great drinking experience. We drank this next to a 1996 Trilogy, and this was the clear winner. Can't see it lasting much longer though, so drink now!

[Gentile's, Steak au Poivre] Cab Frnc dominants the aromas with green pepper as well as liocrice and blackberry. On the palate, again peppers, blueberry, licorice, blackberry, minimal tannins. Not worth the price.

Drank at Rose & Steve's lake house with Rose, Steve, Terri, and Brian. This followed on two bottles of 1994 Kalen Pinot Noir, so it was a decided change. Very smooth with lots of black fruit and chocolate. A favorite, as always.

Quick Day Trip to Napa (Napa Valley CA): Tasting at winery. Aromas of black plum, dark coffee and some black currant. Same good fruit flavors, but fairly advanced for such a young wine. Somewhat short. Drink young.
