We had an interesting experience with this bottle. I made minestrone, so I thought Italian wine and chose this from the cellar. It was not a good match at all. The tomatoes (I assume) in the minestrone gave this a sharp, acidic note and a muddled plum flavor. After dinner we had a second glass while watching TV, and it was amazingly good. The dark cassis and blackberry flavors returned, the acidity was in check, and the finish was smooth and long. Note to self: Do not have the remaining bottles with tomato dishes.

This is a good wine, but not great. It has a deep purple color with a nose of dark fruit and oak. This wine tastes of blackberries and cherries, along with some leather and wood. It is clearly old world and earthy, not overly extracted and jammy. This blend is medium bodied with a moderate finish and notable tannins. It is clearly a good food wine, but not the type that makes you want to keep refilling your glass after dinner.

A week in Tuscany (and Lots of wines); 10/19/2015-10/21/2015 (Tuscany, Italy): After yet another restaurant that did not have the 2010 I ordered on the menu (a d'Allessandro Syrah), we went with this. The blend on this is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 15% Syrah. Purple/ruby in color. The nose has a yeasty scent to it. Not bad, but toast along with black raspberries, a bit jammy. There is also an odd menthol/clove cigarette note (reminds me of high school). On the palate, tart black raspberry pie filling. This is a fruit forward, unabashed wine that makes for tasty drinking if not a complex wine. Slight heat on the finish, I did not see the alc levels. Blind, i would have guessed Paso Robles or something like that I think. It is also reasonably priced. Around 35 Euros at the Poggio Antico restaurant.

Delicious blend of cab sauv, merlot and syrah. Prettu Ruby Red. Soft tannins and a medium-to-long finish. Some alcohol hotness present, give it 30 minutes to breathe. Big on red fruit with hints of vanilla.

Weekly tasting group #185; a mixed set of red wines (@ My place): Very youthful bouquet with dark cherries and dark berries as well as a pleasant dose of oak. On the palate dark berries, some red fruits, mint, pleasant oak, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Juicy and a good concentration. Very youthful still. Kept the leftover at cellar temperature and day 3 the wine was much more harmonious and still really beautiful with a lot of sweet spices and a pleasant balance between acidity and sweetness. The tannin was softer. So my suggestion is drink it now after a lot of air time or cellar it at least until late 2017. Will still be perfectly ok in 2020.

I'm not too familiar with Italian wines other than Chianti, which I don't care for all that much. So take this with a grain of salt. I found this to be very drinkable, but very muted flavors compared to what I'm used to. Hits mostly at the back of the palate, medium to long finish, decent amount of tannins, but leaves me longing for more flavor. Tastes very old world. Still, no offending flavors, so if this is your style of wine, I suppose you should give it a try. Decent value.

Full body, deep to inky purple red color, highly aromatic, black and red fruits, dominant black currants, wood, spices and floral aroma, black currants and blueberry, spicy, slightly peppery and mineral on the palate, fresh black currant on finish, long finish, all characteristics of previous vintages takes place also now: powerful but elegant, rich and juicy, bold, excellent balanced, harmonious and well structured , complex, lovely acidity, sweet tannins; highly tannic now – need time for integration, food friendly. Well associated with rice and grilled vegetables or pizza or mushrooms soup. Open about one hour and half in advance or decant, don't lose the taste also next day. Serve 16º - 20º. Young but already enjoyable now. Drink 2016 – 2020, perhaps more.

A nice simple wine. Not much nose, slight scent of red berries and alcohol. When it hits the lips it has a nice tang of red fruit. Good balance, firm tannic structure. Smooth long finish. I enjoyed this wine, nothing about it stood out significantly but it also was a very pleasant bottle. Quite drinkable.

Blueberry, plum, blackberry. Quite potent and a little overripe but with good high acid and medium tannin - may benefit from another few years in the cellar. Quite consistent with my experience of the 2007 five years ago. A little overwrought perhaps but a nice wine all the same. 14%, $25.

Went through a few bottles over dinner at Wolfgang's Steakhouse. Big crowd pleaser. Fruit forward and distinctively Italian, although the Syrah cuts down the acidity just a touch too far for me. Still, very enjoyable at the table or solo. 90.

Fairly fruit forward for an Italian offering. The wine features good richness and depth. Terroir elements seem lacking. This seems to be made in the 'Antica' style. Very tasty, but Italian...not to mention Tuscan?...not so much. 90-91.

At Eataly NYC, the server's suggestion after I turned up my nose at the Nero d'Avola. Excellent fruit forward super-Tuscan, opaque and inky in the glass, muted nose of red fruit and baking spices, with black currant and plum fighting it out with some forest floor on the palate, medium body, medium finish, popular with all in our party. Wife wanted me to pick up a few bottles if they're available.

This wine appears to be young, with inky color and violet edge. The intensity is a bit discrete, but dark fruit (blackberry and blackcurrant) and some florally and tar notes is to be found. Full bodied wine of dark berry flavours, packed with tannins makes it quite chewy. Integration could have been better.
