A super Tapestry. So odd to look back at CT notes from @10 years ago and read notes about bottles being past-prime or gone or at end of life. Perhaps those were off or poorly stored bottles, or maybe the wine was closed? In any case, this 1999 Tapestry, which was one of two I recently picked up at auction, was excellent. Full bodied; no bricking; gorgeous sweet dark fruit nose. And, it was both delicious and concentrated on the palate. Opened on a Friday and then put in fridge after having a glass; today -Monday - it is even better. No decline. Bravo BV!

13.5% alcohol; the cork had dried out and broken off in the middle but I was able to get it out using a straight corkscrew with a handle, with a resounding pop indicating the seal was still intact; aroma from the cork was a whiff of vanilla accompanied by a trace of New Zealand Manuca honey, wine penetration up to 1 cm; the label identifies its Beaulieu Reserve Tapestry wine as 'a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc from outstanding Napa Valley vineyards', meaning, I hope, that the Vineyard really has taken extra care in its Napa grape selection; long legs, a very dark ruby red color; opened, vinturied, and tasted about 30 minutes later at room temperature (24 degrees C); nose of sweet/sour cherries, some vegetables like carrots and beets, with the same vanilla/Manuka honey combination I noticed in the cork; full bodied with a sharp, deep-state dark berry and stone fruit combination, an intriguing mixture of fruitiness, sourness, and sweetness, even a little table salt; extended cellaring has done nothing bad to this wine; far from being over the hill, it hasn't reached the top yet; medium to long finish; pair with grill roasted beef, or bison, steak

I was very nervous as other bottles of the BVTR have been very hit or miss for me and the cork crumbled a bit with the regular rabbit, so I had to use a tong type.
I pour a bit into a large glass, and then poured some though a venturri into a ships decanter and then into the glass. Again, a bit of nervousness as there was a bit of orange bricking. In tasting, the difference was significant.
The aerated wine was so much fresher and fuller once it lost the bottle funk.
This was a very enjoyable bottle of mature nappa red, and could have gone a bit further. I had always hoped to do a Tap resv verticle with what I have, and I think this would have been one of the best.
Don't wait too much longer, but it is still drinking well.

March Library Club shipment included this bottle, and from reading some recent reviews, I can say if you're going to acquire this now, do it from the vineyard directly. Aged perfectly, presumably due to being stored well for over a decade. Smells amazing, but nothing jumps out at you. Quick finish means your glass will empty quickly. I do agree with the other reviews: pop and pour, EOL can't be far off.

I'm drinking this as I write and am duly impressed with the lucious tannin, depth of fruit and long finish. It should be largely noted that this Tapestry is coming from a Jerobaum, so it's not necessarily indicative of the evolution one would find in a regular 750. But I digress......Nice way to start the Thanksgiving holiday

A regal and sophisticated Tapestry with red currant, black cherry, tree bark and berry compote. A touch of sour cherry leads to a secondary tier with dark chocolate, mint and hints of black olive all in drying, gripping tannins. This wine still has some time and could develop longer in the bottle.

Best of the 3 bottles we had, and seemed to still have some life left. The nose on this one was fabulous, and as Cab blends go this was excellent. Medium bodied, only 13.5% alcohol, nice profile, well balanced, good with food. Even mid-palate had something to offer. Finish 15-20 seconds. Good QPR at $29.

Color is still a rich ruby, but upon opening I found the finish a bit flat. Not much alcohol, so I was suprised when an hour later the bottle opened up. Floral on the front, opening to a rich ripe fruit with some mocha notes showing through-mature and smooth. Finish filled out with currant and vanilla. Glad I opened this now and didn't hold it another year.

From FBM. Didn't show super well with other wines poured during the evening, lacking a bit in richness and elegance. However, it seems to have a nice balance, and enough in the way of acidity, fruit and tannins to support a bit more aging. I think this could be a better wine in 12-24 months.

Not as elegant as the '93 that we had the same night. More jammy and tannin driven. The tannins were somewhat heavy on the finish along with some heat. Contrary to some other entries, I think this could benefit from a couple additional years down to further integrate.

Drank a Magnum after 2 to 3 hours decanting -- Nose of dark cherry, currant, chocolate, leather and more. The fruit kept coming through and is balanced with tobacco and tar. Tannins are fading a bit, but are still evident and smooth. In a line-up with Opus, Mondavi Reserve, and Brunello's, it was not the WOTN but it held its own, especially for the people who prefer a fruit-dominated cabs.

A good solid Napa red blend. Lots of black fruit nicely balanced with some nice leather and oak. A moderate finish to it that stayed consistent with the aroma and taste. I felt it drank a bit hot, otherwise I probably would of had it at 90.

I thought this was drinking great, like a solid Napa Cab should. Inviting bouquet of dark fruit, following through to the palate with cassis and tobacco, supported with solid tannins. Will last 3-5 more years, but drinking very well now.

Bright disc. Opaque ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, showing light mint, bell pepper and asparagus. Medium-bodied on the palate and with medium coarse tannins, the wine shows the same green thread on the palate as it does for the nose. Medium, coarse vegetal finish. Very disappointing. It is obvious that these grapes just never became ripe. Perhaps this would be understandable in 1998, but not in 1999.

Color: dark purple with a few brick red highlights.
Nose: medium to full intensity; complex with lots of dried fruit and dark spices. Nose tended to moderate after opening.
Body and flavor: medium-full... nice mouth feel. Complex vinous flavors with dried fruit and some spicy notes. A bit of Rutherford dust.
Aftertaste: lingering, but nothing of great note.
