Matchstick, Flint, sea breeze and citrus on the nose. Acid is high and this wine feels so young and fresh for a 2013. A super strong thread of salinity almost Chablis-esque. Perfect pairing with the salmon ceviche we had for our main. This wine is a really really good high acid mineral-driven Chardonnay, but nothing more. There are plenty of Chards for ~$100 that I find just as compelling.

At Momofuku Ssam Bar NYc. In contrast with the 2017 this one was much more aromatic with some star anise and aloe notes to it. More linear than fatty, I thought this drank at a really good spot, could probably develop some more complexity but will lose some fruit going forward. Went well with scallops crudo. Nice way to kick off the night.

White focused lunch at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Tasted blind. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of light florals, integrated toast oak, strong vein of stony minerality, citrus lemon and stone fruits. Developing. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of chalky stony minerality, wet stones, sweet floral spices, citrus lemon, white peaches. Lovely long balanced finish. Very good quality. Antydning til premox både på lukt og smakt. Dermed hadde den mistet all friskhet på duft. Allikevel ligger det definitivt kvalitet i bunn her og vinen har en veldig lang og balansert ettersom. Hadde fort vært både ett og to pong mer uten premox.

This showed beautifully last night with perfect acidity and great flavors of yellow fruits and chalky stones. The finish was beautifully complex with great mineral notes. This is perfect now and given the propensity of Leflaive wines to turn premixed almost over night, I wouldn't await any longer to enjoy this delicious white Burgundy.

Had at a restaurant. This was lovely. Nose was initially a bit reticent, but opened to show lovely floral notes of acacia, apple blossom; lemon peel, with crunchy pear and green apple develop followed by hints of spice and nut. Mineral notes surface last. The palate is vibrant and fresh with lovely balance and energy. Good depth and a lovely finish. Delicious

So clearly I need to drink more white burgundy because this was delicious. Burnt matchstick on the nose. The acidity is very taut but so nicely balanced with the golden fruit and then minerals on the finish. Really juicy, with a lingering finish. I thought I did not care for chardonnay, but my few tries at fine white burgs are helping me to understand the allure.

Beautiful from the first aromas, the first sip - expressive yet elegant. It was immediately evident that this was worth penny, though a solid decant had the wine continually opening further with time. Leflaive is a name bound to set any white-Burgundy lover’s heart aflutter, and with good reason; the Domaine produces a number of highly sought after bottles including those from 5.1 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. However, this offering, instead at the Premier Cru level, showed no signs of being a second act. The nose was immediately full of beautiful orange blossoms, tangerine, ripe peach, and subtlely integrated oak (vanilla/toast). The palate showed a bit more restraint, providing lemon, yellow apple, and pineapple. With some air, the wine really began to hit full stride: melon, cinnamon, and honeycomb intertwined with jasmine, licorice root, and touches of chalk. Cinnamon and brown sugar joined that creamy toastiness on the finish, one that lingered long after sips had finished. The stucture was perfectly on point, and the wine sure seems to be in peak form at the moment. With this kind of quality, there’s no doubt it will hold on for a while longer and could possibly even develop...but truth be told, its tough to imagine how it could get much more delicious than it already is!

Mineraliteten kiler og dekker munnen - nesten tanniner her. Sitter meget lenge. Strålende Clavo, og langt sprekere enn forrige flaske. 92p+

A private lunch (Restaurant Bob Bob Ricard, London,UK): Bottle No. 01941. The lowliest of Leflaive's Premier Crus and the lowest on the slope, but in this vintage it is not earthbound at all. In 2013 it is an elegant and fresh interpretation of the Puligny theme, sleek, light but fragrant, floral, ethereal almost, pure and seemingly ready to go, with barely any noticeable oak influence, soft and juicy acidity, ripe citrus and only a whiff of tropical fruit, hint of salty minerality, good to very good length. Puts finesse before power - not an obvious wine. But, in all reality, good rather than great and expensive for what it is.

Amazing nose. Flowers and chalk, gunpowder, smoky minerals, with citrus perfume, citrus flowers and dusty minerals oozing up from the glass. Palate is equally fine, exceptionally balanced with pure & clean and ripe fruit, white stone fruits, pears mainly, hints of underlying tropical sweeter peaches, creamy and fat, yet very clean and fresh. Long and complex finish, spicy with a touch of white pepper and a nice dose of minerals. I predict a very bright future for this subtle little gem (if it only survives PO!). Great wine in the making, watch out! (92 – 94)

I really liked this better much better than I expected. Very pretty floral nose showing off fresh picked apples, wet rocks, and light elegant white pepper spice. Lovely, I want to give this 4.5 star but not quite there, 4.25 stars if there was that option! Great delicate balance between the minerality and oak. A nice mixture of a top layer of fresh apple then in the mid palate more ripe golden delicious.
Paired incredible well with lobster cosmopolitan (fresh chilled lobster with crime avocado, and melon fruits balls)
Yum.

Decanted for a half hour. Very closed at this point. Aromas of subtle minerality, iron and flint. Rather light at this point. The palate too had subtle minerality but not much weight. The finished somewhat clipped. This wine is still in it's infancy and do not think of opening it for at least 5 more years. Hard to say which direction the wine will take in the future.

Relatively forward and simple at this stage. Pleasant white peach fruit, some nuttiness and good underlying minmerality.

I really liked this better much better than I expected. Very pretty floral nose showing off fresh picked apples, wet rocks, and light elegant white pepper spice. Palate was delicately nuanced yet powerful with wonderful purity of laser focused tense fruits. Long and rich, yet quite clean and vibrant. Lovely.

Yum.

Amazingly elegant nose with lime, lychee, nectarines and white flower.
The acidity is vibrant and precise. On the palate we get more exotic fruit with mainly pineapple and in the finish some careful oak notes appear.
Very pure and elegant wine with great balance and a rather long finish.

An easy-going Leflaive. Not complicated yet sappy and with nice minerality. Yellow fruit of gooseberry, passion fruit. Really nice.
