A dazzling Coche drinking so well right now with classic Coche matchstick melded to the orchard and stone fruits. At one creamy and electric. So long. Delicious. Held up strong over several hours.

Drank at La Cagouille. Apparently this bottle is Les Vireuils fruit. Mid yellow. Slight flinty nose with citrus and stone fruit. Palate clean. Citrus, stone fruit and flint. Classic Coche with superbly balanced acidity, fruit, minerals and length. A hint of mint at the end? Perhaps lacking a little body and complexity but nonetheless an impressive wine.

My second time tasting Coche 13’ Meursault, this time I opened the bottle a few hours for a little slow ox in the fridge before drinking and it certainly helped. This bottle really wants a little bit of air to open up, and when it does this is a very fine bottle of Coche. Rich and weighty fruit, nicely precise acidity and cut.

I know people like to hate this vintage from coche but ive always been a fan. with air the wine balances out and gets into more focus. more tropical fruit in comparison to prior bottles. good minerality and cut. lingers a bit more on the back palate. Had it next to a 2014 Pierre Morey Batard Montrachet and it outshined it.

Pretty nose with classic Coche flavors of popcorn, lemon, peach, butter, and a hint of vanilla. Lovely acidity with more lemon, lime, a bit more peach, flint, minerals, and saline notes on the palate. Long finish. This was really good and while it had much less of the butter popcorn of the 2007 (which I was lucky to taste recently), it also showed a bit more nuance and complexity.

Beautiful restrained nose, cool and elegant. Quite tight on opening but give it an hour or two and complexity of the nose evolves into popcorn and hint of pineapple and orchid flowers. Put the Roulot Tillet 14 we were drinking alongside into the shade. Just lovely and just about worth the current price but very debatable haha.

Super fresh, with loads of struck match and some intense lemon and white peach. It is rich and powerful, with awesome fruit intensity for its level. There's so much chalky extract to the back-end. It is still too young but oh so pleasurable.

blind This was so elegant and reluctant with a great density. You would never think about a village wine. Close to his peak. Saline and some lemon peel. Austere but with a silky finish. I preferred it to Les Rougeots 2001. 97

2019 Visit to North Canterbury, NZ: Deeply coloured but with no hint of premox. On bouquet, first Coche-typical struck match reduction. Flinty popcorn, as Helen describes it. Then lime and crystalline lemon citrus, pears and slaty minerals. With more time in the glass, gentle spice and jasmine fragrances emerged. On palate, taut and impressive. Concentrated, and initially quite linear and intense with typical 2013 acids. Lime juice, yellow apple, nectarine and blanched almond. “Elegant flow”, noted Sherwyn. Brian preferred it over the Chevaliers finding “salinity without being savoury”. With time the Meursault opened even more, becoming richer and riper-seeming. By the time it fully opened on the night, the Coche seemed near its peak drinking window.

Maybe not the biggest Coche vintage but it still nonetheless has the matchstick/hazelnut/buttery nose and lemon honey/acid mouth and finish. Can’t wait to see how the other bottle ages, and to compare with Rougeots and Puligny Enseignieres

Very high acid sticks out making this a little prickly and slightly out of balance. Pleasant enough with food, but a relatively weak vintage for this wine.

Distinctly tropical notes but not sweet or cloying. This is a Burgundy that can substitute for Sauternes in pairing with foie gras, but it lacks the residual sugar of course. I expect this vintage for Coche will be quite stellar in time for their higher cuvees, this villages is an interesting window to the vintage.

A bit flat and closed down at first, but opened up nicely with a bit of air. Some tropical fruit with nice acidity. Definitely not on the same level as the single vineyard Coche wines I’ve had from this vintage and perhaps a bit overpriced for what it is, but still very tasty.

Tasted blind - a distinct petrol nose and the palate too was reminiscent of a Riesling (!). This however changed with some air and the wine came into its own a bit more, remaining the leanest of all Coches tasted this evening (11 & 15 Meursault, 94 Rougeots). Precise and fresh in the vein of the vintage, while good I would say not mind boggling though. So I would seek out a different vintage personally.

Has some petrol reduction to the nose. It is loaded with sappy orchard fruits and there's a meatiness to the wine. It has real density and chew and builds through the palate finishing dry and chalky. Still very youthful.

completely different from a bottle a month. This was very reductive and quiet a bit of salinity but also long on the finish. while I wouldn't call this bottle open it was more accessible to the last one I had. drank over 4 hours and it mellowed but showed more lime and subtle minerality. 92/93

Decanted and consumed over a 2 hour period. Very structured and built to age. Lime, anise and honey on the floral nose. Complex palate with a few layers that need to be unpacked. Citrus fruit flavors with a deep texture on the palate, mineral driven acidity and citrus rind to add complexity. Long finish, slightly drying and puckering.

Seemed completely different vs the bottle from a different source a few years back. Very reductive start, this took 30+ minutes in decanter to soften. This was incredibly rich, dense and unctuous with near Grand Cru density, and an intriguing sense of both sweet and bitter. But for now this is just so backward. 92 points by the time finished after two hours, but 93+ potential if this all comes together.
Burgundy best of village blind (La Trompette (London)): Served blind, reduction, lemon oil, good concentration, long and pure. Thought Meursault. Not as good as the 2012 next to it. But in isolation a lovely wine (I probably rated this higher than the group).

Reduction upfront that does not bother. Rich, slightly preserved citrus peels. Savoury, meaty, menthol and floral notes. Fresh but deep.
Laser sharp focus acidity that is perfectly judged. Highly mineral. Flavour concentration is very high with any hint of excessive fat. Finishes long and enjoyable indeed.

First flight. Strangely reductive . I experience cockroach feces, some say it’s detergent on the nose perhaps it is unresolved oak and sulphur. I am certain 13 lacks the vibrancy and tension of a good vintage. Perhaps a label drinking vintage at this stage.

Probably too young to drink this wine. Nose was a bit muted at first, reductive, white peach, smoke, flinty, lemon grass, on the palate, showed mid to back palate acidity, very mineral, white fruits and stony minerality, didn’t get lots of weight on this initially. Did get more structure over next two hours. I think this wine needs time.

Slow oxed for 2 hours before serving.Agree with rlove. Very reductive to start. More roulot than coche. Sharp minerality but it lacked the coche character a true fan loves at this stage especially when it was drank against 01,05,07,08,09,10. It was more reductive compared to the other vintages. I am sure this bottle would show better on a standalone with some decanting. The question is whether it will show that coche baby fat and popcorn when it is ready.

A clean and focused nose, reminiscent of Roulot, and rather atypical for Coche, with peach, pear, stone, and chamomile. With time this develops more oomph, lots of nuts and mineral flavors. Drink starting 2020.

Didn't find it to be classic coche right away but with a little bit of time showed better. At first style was more similar to a roulot made wine. Great minerality not a ton of gun flint as people have noted but a beautiful wine. Got better with time.

2 timer karaffel. Deilig - Coche svikter aldri! Slankere nese enn vanlig for produsenten. Elegant. 93p+

IMO, a waste unfortunately, to have this under a outdoors zichar setting. This still had that faint nose of white flowers, citrus. There was also good intensity and depth on the palate, but overall, it just didn't appeal/strike me like the Coche's that I've had before... Oh well...

Coche Dury Meursault is absolutely a masterpiece and also the second greatest village Meursault, with d'Auvenay Meursault leading the most elusive and profound wines of Meursault.
Not quite the intensity of 2012, 2013 offers extremely pleasant liveliness and freshness on the palate. Kudos to Jean-François Coche for his astounding effort in a lesser vintage. It possesses the classic Coche purity and radiants. Lively, explosive oak, balanced acidity, incredible minerals, zesty, peachy, floral. Very precise!

Hosting GC from WB: Blind. Loved this from minute 1. Sulfur, spice, floral, incense - swirls with aromatic layers and pop. Great intensity and the line of the wine is excellent. Texturally interesting and a wine that just makes me smile to drink. If it were a touch longer this would be off the charts, but as it is, simply magnificent.

Elegant.

Burgundy 2012, 13 and 14: Blind. Popcorn and butter, some oak, yellow and tropical fruit; smooth, long and powerful, some minerals. Great wine, but very 'worked' - although not exactly overdone; verging on it.

IMO, a waste unfortunately, to have this under a outdoors zichar setting. This still had that faint nose of white flowers, citrus. There was also good intensity and depth on the palate, but overall, it just didn't appeal/strike me like the Coche's that I've had before... Oh well...

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Clean energetic nose displaying cool white fruits, pear, sour apple, lemonade, cool mountain stream, Coche flint, sesame and mineral. Excellent concentration, very precise and cool, bright acidity, strong mineral presence and a long clean finish. Really nice showing.

There’s some green melon, citrus and white peach. It is super flinty and has great stony detail. It is laden with dry extract and the finish has some serious chew.

Pale primrose, starbright; struck match to fore which blows off, cool nose, restrained, tight; crisp, vibrant, pointed, very youthful, very Coche. Extended finish, this may be closing down. No excess weight, the definition of precision. Leave three years.

Took 3.5 hrs to open up. Match stick, fire works and sexy yellow fruit on nose and palate. The underlying substance is stunning. If this is what 2013 white burg is all about, its totally underrated. It will take 10 years for it to be ready.

Whites that rival Coche: Nose was muted but palate was very expressive. Layered flint, chalk vanilla with bright acid. Perhaps need more time but the palate showed its Pedigree.

Coche dinner: Pronounced intensity, aromas of sweet spices, baking spice, butter, lemon, citrus fruits, green fruits, pineapple, peach, steely mineral, hints of white flowers. Developing.
Palate was dry, high acidity, full bodied. Overall, nice flinty character, very good structure and finesse.
