Shedding its baby fat and taking the turn from reduced barrel fermented anonymous whote to chenin with class. Streak of green snappiness to give it an electric charge. With green and yellow apple and pear. Hazelnuts and honey. Utterly captivating.

with pork belly cabbage and mushroom nabe. tried side by side with the 2013, both purchased from the winery. the 2012, coming from the more classic vintage, was driven by structure, with the fruit somewhat oxidized and fading, compared to the acidity, tannins, and oak components. tasted dried out. the 2013 was still reduced, fresh, and painfully young. perhaps the inconsistencies of a winemaker still learning their crafdt

Aromas of reine claude, citrus, minerals, a herbal element, almost a smoky tone. In the mouth crisp and piercing acidity, citrus, green apples, a tart and slightly astringent element, green notes, stone fruit. Long and persistent finish and good concentration. Drinks well now!

Riverain Winemakers Dinner with Steve Nordoff (FMIII in the OC): Blind. Wrestled between a Chennin or lean Chablis. Ultimately went for a Chablis because the ripping acid through the backbone of the wine and the fruit profile. Lean stone fruit and lemon rind flavors.

Big reductive flavor profile. Not as bracing at the Anjou blanc. Pretty good stuff but not my preferred style.

Riverain Dinner (My House In The South OC): Served blind, this I guessed as Chenin, as it showed stone fruit pit, nectarine skin and lots of acidity. Very good.
