Our last bottle of the 2012 vintage in our cellar. This wine, like other CS from Stewart, ages well. Notes of black cherries, figs, mint, pencil shavings and toast. Layer of cassis, blackberries, ripe figs, mint and cherries. Well integrated tannins and acidity with plenty of character remaining. A very nice wine from a terrific vintage.

Decent QPR but a heavily extracted wine with a heavy purple mid palate (think dried plums....are those prunes?) and not much balance. Acidity is muted and secondary nuances from terroir are vacant. That said the fruit and cooperage are good, just a bit jammy and heavy with a short crescendo and a thin finish.

I hate to bring the average down but this bottle wasn't very impressive. Pleasant but not very interesting. Light and one dimensional with out much of a finish. Drank over 2 evenings to see if it developed with some time but it did not change much. Very different then my notes from the first bottle.

This is a bit improved from the one I had last year. Initially quite closed and brooding - a kind of petrol note, but it really opened up after about an hour or so to show more luxurious depth. A bit pricey though at about $76 after tax. 93+pts

Expressive nose consisting of ripe bing cherries, mint, blueberries, licorice and peppercorns. At first the acidity and tannins were out of balance but as the wine breathed, it softened and opened up to layers of black peppercorns, ripe red figs, cherries, toast, mint and cassis. A very enjoyable wine that has at least another five years to peak.

Very well made. Rich but not overdone. mid-weight. Tannins with just enough bite. Balanced and enjoyable. In competition for best cab of the day at Yountville Live "regular-level" tasting, with the Priest Ranch Cab.

Young and could use some bottle age, but I thought it was a pretty good wine. This wine should be decanted. More elegant and sleek, dark but a little soft on the palate as I would have thought it was a bigger, and a more full-bodied, rich, Cab as it appeared to be. Tannins are soft but the wine is still a little tight. If you can wait, I would not be in a big hurry to drink this vintage. A good wine and probably better with a meal.

I know it's too early, but wanted to try since I have a case. As suspected, its a bit shut down but the glass I saved for the 2nd night shows the promise of what is to come. Good structure and fruit. Big tannis, but they will fade. Revisit in 2018+

Tasted at the tasting room in Yountville. Black cherry, blackberry fruit with subtle chocolate and mocha notes with some earth notes as well. Tasted side by side with the 2013 vintage which I preferred. This tends to be a little more subtle and on the softer side right now.

Decanted and drank over a few hours. Still quite young and full of juicy verve. Big dark fruit flavors with a spring on the palate. Tannins are soft through the body but get tighter and tighter throughout e finish, leaving us with an almost acrid finish thirty seconds after swallowing. Oak comes across as smoke and a little vanilla, though the interplay with food and terroir produced some interesting meat hues like boudin noir and bresaola. I will give this at least another year before my next bottle. (assuming I remember to read this before pulling another.)

Big Napa cab. Tannins are almost fully integrated. A little oak and strong cherries and black fruits. Reminds me of Orin swift papillon but a little less "big".

Very similar notes to Bluegoose, except this opened up during the 2nd hour. I should have decanted it, but it was actually nice seeing how it evolved over the course of the evening. I have been drinking Stewart for a number of years and it never disappoints -- rather it is consistently great. Now to try The Nomad! RL.

Young and could/should be consumed later, but I thought it was wonderful. Nice and spicey and full-bodied with rich, dark fruit flavors. Would definitely drink again. Ps Brooklyn Cafe in Sandy Springs doesn't charge a markup on their wine, so it's a perfect place to try wines.

100% Cabernet. 65% new French oak. Classic nose shows blackberry, cassis, baking spice, layers, black pepper, light herbal note. Palate immediately juicy in a good way, mid-palate shows tons of spice, fruit, black pepper, black plums, blackberry, white pepper, medium plus to long finish keeps it going, medium plus tannins, medium plus alcohol gives power, acidity keeping up at medium. Lots to talk about and develop here, drink now or hold.
1200 cases made.

This wine has aged nicely with well balanced tannins and acidity. I wish I had bought more in 2015.

Tried my first of 5 bottles last week and I kick myself for not taking notes or posting sooner. But my recollection was of an exceptional experience.

Very powerful and extracted, deep black and blue fruit, penetrating. Will benefit from more time but still approachable.

Needed an hour decant to open up. Medium weight. Nice purple color. This is beginning to lose some of its fruit. It had a decent finish.

Fruity nose with plums, currants, and tobacco notes. High tannins with more dark fruit on the palate. Nice finish.
