Very nice showing. Light and elegant as always from this house, sometimes too light. This one is ok if you like classic proportions. Fully mature, drink up.

If I wouldn‘t have had it right next to the 1990 Cos, I would have probably given it a hugher score. Fantastic wine from an underrated vintage - open now, you‘ll enjoy every sip. I don‘t think this wine will improve further

Above the (generally rather average) 1999s. Charming creamy nose of very mature raspberries, cedar, leather, caramel. Light to medium bodied in the mouth, elegant leather, tobacco, earthy and animal on the palate. A really pleasurable experience, just a bit lighter than bigger millesimes. Drink now, don‘t wait.

A boire. Bouteille moins fraîche.

Into neck, débouché et bu durant 2 heures.

Interesting to taste this after the 2000. Those two vintages couldn't be more different. Less ripe and big, more precise and clean in terms of flavours with bright acidity, a little lean, very classic. Well made, drink soon. 88-90

Bouteille et bouchon en parfaite condition. High fill. Non carafé. Couleur grenat sombre.

Good deep garnet color. Black plums, currants, graphite, earth and wood spice on the nose. The palate reveals blackish small fruits, cedary perfume and earth framed with good acidity and hints of drying oak still persistent on the finish.

Very nice. Opened and decanted for half an hour. Drank it with a "gigot de 14 heures" - or a slow cooked leg of lamb (for 14 hours), which proved a perfect match. I don't think there is much more to this wine now. I shall probably drink my other bottle quite soon

This is my first Beychevelle and I found it to be exremely well balanced and delightful to drink. Clear, medium plus ruby in color with hints of garnet on the rim. The nose is very expressive and perfumed, medium plus in intensity, with aromas of black currant and roses. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, and all its components are of medium intensity and balanced. In fact, the tannins are still medium plus in intensity, indicating that it could still age a few more years. I would drink it now, or in any case before 2014, because I would not want the fruit any further. A really beautiful wine.

In good condition but this is still quite a rigid and tense wine. The fruit is pure and clean but there is a stalky, green tinge through the wine that makes it rather angular and unloveable. Decent enough, but there seems to be quite a variation in the 3 bottles I have had of this in recent months.

Second bottle within a week and this one was much more structured and pleasurable than the previous bottle. Firm tannins and structure give the wine a rigid frame that sits well with the fruit. Graphite and black fruit dominate but secondary aromas are peeking through now. Will improve, but no harm drinking them now.

If only the palate was as good as the nose on this wine. Nostrils: nice maturing St Julien aromas - very complex and integrated fruit - a lot of promise. Unfortunately it all goes a bit wrong once you put the wine in your mouth - very fuzzy, the fruit just flops onto your palate and lays there. No structure or tannins to work with the fruit, leaving it a bit wooly and formless despite the raw ingredients being of excellent quality. Kind of like how a supermodel would look with no skeletal structure. Average.

Much better than the one I had last year. Black currant, prunes, leather, liquirice, earth. Nice full bodied. Definately downhill, but no where dead. Like it a lot...

Deep crimson, a lot of very fine sediment that needed decanting through muslin to remove. Hardly any evolvemnent. On the nose, prunes (not stewed), ripe damsons - quite restrained. More to the fore were aromas of cigarbox, cedar, meaty pan scrapings reminiscent of marmite. Aromoas echoed as flavours on the palate. Medium acidity to provide good freshness but the tannis are still very harsh indeed - fine grained but very harsh. The finish is long and meaty. This is a very enjoyable wine but I would say a long way from being ready.

The gently cedary, typical St. Julian scent was best at 16C just opened. 1 hour later, decanted, at room temperature: rather soft and indistinct, but delicious in a faded kind of way, no flaws, just a bit pale. A bargain at under 25 Euros in a sale. 88P

According to a tasting note from Vinolovers of which he says that this wine is very nice to drink right now...Indeed totally agree my last bottle and absolutely great bottle off wine...The style is tipically Saint-Julien style which is very soft and feminin.Dark fruit(overwhelming) some cedar some cassis some strawberries and a soft finish...My god what is Beychevelle an estate that is underperforming...I think when they lower their yields and raise the quality this could easily compete with better Bordeaux wines because I think there is some great terroir overthere...www.everyoneweb.com/chateaujochen/

Opened at Antica Posta during a pre-dinner tasting & compared with a '00 Chat. du Pape & a super Tuscan. Served without decanting; lots of dark coloring, slightly muted nose. Great blackberry, cassis, coffee & tea flavors. Tannins are dropping and wine opened in the glass. Still very young but lots of time left; Good wine, but didn't pair well with the veal chop or the osso bucco!

From half bottle.
Translucent light ruby core, reddish brown rim,
Aromas of cooked dark fruit, animal, cedar, blueberries. Floral.
Tannins have almost completely softened. Light-medium acidity. Medium- bodied. Finish has some length, but light on flavor.
Pleasant to drink but probably over the hill.
