This is a beautiful wine with a full body and creamy texture. There are notes of lemon, honeysuckle, mineral and petrol. A complex riesling that I wish I had more of.

I wouldn’t call the acidity searing here like a few other tasters, but it certainly is prominent. I like this, but agree that I wasn’t expecting this style of wine from ZH.
I did go very well with our turbot appetizer.

I agree with Mr. T on this one. While I liked this wine, the acidity of it took much away from my overall enjoyment. This is a different style of ZH than I am accustomed to. Considerably drier. Shame on me for pairing this with a Sauerbraten! Any other ZH would have been on point.

Fresh nose with a little petrol, well integrated acidity, a bit creamy - a very good companion to lobster + co. Bottle opened 30 Min. before, Zalto Bordeaux glasses.

This was drinking fantastic this evening. Such a pleasure to have a beautiful Alsatian Riesling. Reminds us that we need to have more of these in our cellar.

Nice white floral, lime, wet stone nose, good minerality on the palate, high acid, showed every bit as goos as bottle 2 years back. Drinking great. Riesling dinner and my WOTN amongst the dry rieslings.

Good but not great bottle....in this case the searing acidity did not relent entirely and for me at least, limited the ability to enjoy the white fruits I was expecting and looking forward to. Others were quite happy but for me, not up to my expectations based on prior bottles.

drunk with steamed lobster on Halloween night on the back cold patio. Wonderful wine once again and paired really nicely with the sweetness of the lobster and the saltiness. Really a fantastic combination. Wish I had more of this wine. Will look into younger vintages. This wine is certainly holding up very well.

A truly elegant wine with notes of fresh lemon, honeysuckle, mineral with a hint of petrol. Complex, almost creamy texture. Fantastic riesling and drinking well now or it can also wait.

93+ Amazing showing for this wine and my first experience with the brand. Much more focused than the clos st urbain, sharp and crisp acidity, zesty citrus, stone fruits, white florals, wet stones, nice depth and length here, I look forward to seeing this with a few more years of age on it.

Another amazing Brand Riesling. Great minerality with intense notes of tropical fruits, stone and lemon curd. Super smooth and in its prime to drink now.

Dinner at Jims - An open that bottle night (Jim's): One of best Alsatian Rieslings I have had in years. Wish I had built a meal around it to show it off. It got a bit lost in a night of many open bottles.

My first, experience with this wine. An elegant, dry Riesling, with a somewhat subdued citrus nose, medium acidity, and a nice mineral finish. The mid palate seemed a little weak, I am not sure if this is a function of vintage or the wines age. Perhaps, the mid palate will improve with time. Obviously, a wine of distinction, but not quite as impressive as I had expected. I have another bottle, I plan to.keep it for awhile, and see how the wine evolves.

Adding to Panos' detailed note - there is a noticable smokiness to this vintage of Brand. Really good with seafood, but I am not a fan of Alsace rieslings so will not rate. I would put it at about 93pts technically if I did - 89-90pts on my enjoyment. Note that when I do drink Alsace rieslings I like them from ripe vintages with age (after 20yrs the Brand can show lovely notes of kefir lime and even more crystalline impression - including a lovely saline nose).

Tasted at winery. 2014 had yet to be bottled so the 2013 was included in the tasting. Light yellow color. Nose of lemon/lime with some stone fruit with hints of petrol. Slightly riper fruit than the other Rieslings primarily due to warmer vintage and the grapes for the Grand Cru receive a lot of sun exposure. Still finishes dry with medium+ to high acid on the palate. Very nice.

Zind Humbrecht 2013 (Domaine Zind Humbrecht): Always interesting to compare the Riesling Brand Grand Cru with the Rangen de Thann. As expected, slightly higher alcohol at 13 but residual sugar about the same at 5.1 g/l and total acidity not much less at 4.2 g/l . The yield was higher at 22 hl/ha with an estate recommended optimum drinking period of 2017 - 2033+. The average age of the vines is 63 years. Brand is a very solar vineyard. It benefits from exceptional sun exposure (steep south facing slope) and warm well drained granite soil that brings richness and maturity. Compared to Rangen de Thann, a greater sense of ripeness and maturity and yet the Brand remains elegant and very complex – and was fermented perfectly dry.

Gule epler, sitrus, litt fersken og aprikos. Mineralsk og syrefrisk med god balanse mot fruktsødmen. Flott til grillet ørret.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2013 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal
Beautiful wine! Alsace in very good. Ripe, warm fruit, a bit sweet, very mineral, zesty, very harmonious and well balanced. Beautiful texture, very creamy. Long and lingering finish. Still upscale potential. 93
