My first Trotanoy too and somehow quite congruent with my expectations - (including that I was drinking this too young to get anything close to its best - even with a long decant). Deep, profound, 'aristocratic' - a Pomerol which emanates quality from the opening. A somewhat tightly coiled, but not entirely ungiving, core of dark, pure fruit; dark chocolate; very fine and well integrated oak; ripe & fine but still somewhat stern tannins; a touch of something green - tobacco leaf ? - nothing to detract from the wine. Overall, clearly 'outstanding' win WSET terms. A very impressive, rich, powerful, full-bodied, beautifully balanced Bordeaux in a classical idiom. Already pleasurable, especially with the right food, but once the tannins have polymerised further, the fruit opened up and greater complexity developed, then this will be wonderous. A chateau I'd love to get better acquainted with.

Seductive nose of dark cherries and plums, flowers, baking spices, and a hint of dried coconut. A touch above medium-bodied, an orb of earth and dark cherry on the midpalate, midbodied refined tannins, length for days, finishes with a dried herb and dark chocolate note. Very polished wine.
No formal notes, over dinner. Quite expressive and open in the nose - generous red fruit, spices, tobacco, hints of licorice - very attractive and fine. On the palate a little more angular. Ripe fruit, bright acidity, noticeable tannins. Medium depth, very good length. 91-93?

Black cherry, powerful, liquor like aromas, tons of power. Quite ripe and. Dry powerful, very extracted and tense, brooding and untamed. Loads of potential, yet still unbridled. Needs lots of time, potential is there, but disjointed today.

Nearly 3 years have passed since I opened a bottle of Chateau Trotanoy. Opened to honor Jim Clendenen. Nose of black cherry, boysenberry, chocolate, and iron immediately showed up, same on the palate, big body, delicious, very tasty, rich fruit, elegant, mouth filling fruit, tabbibs completely resolved, iron noted on both mid palate and aftertaste, and a long, long, long finish and lovely aftertaste. Photo uploaded.

Nose of rich dark chocolate, black cherry, sage, and boysenberry, same on the palate, big body, very tasty, needs seven years to peak drinking, lovely fruit, rich fruit, brooding fruit, mouth filling fruit, this needs time to see the medium amount of soft tannins turn silky, and a long, long finish.

More dark fruit and chocolate on the nose. Some meaty and coffee notes. More plush and silky than usual but more masculine than the rest of the lineup.

Silky, smooth, soft, sensuous and velvety, with layers of sweet, fresh plum, cocoa, dark chocolate with violets in the perfume. The wine is rich, sexy and promises even more complexity with time. 94-96 Pts

Spectaculaire. Premier Trotanoy, pas mon dernier. Profondeur, longueur, complexité, au nez en bouche. Impeccable!
