  • My first Trotanoy too and somehow quite congruent with my expectations - (including that I was drinking this too young to get anything close to its best - even with a long decant). Deep, profound, 'aristocratic' - a Pomerol which emanates quality from the opening. A somewhat tightly coiled, but not entirely ungiving, core of dark, pure fruit; dark chocolate; very fine and well integrated oak; ripe & fine but still somewhat stern tannins; a touch of something green - tobacco leaf ? - nothing to detract from the wine. Overall, clearly 'outstanding' win WSET terms. A very impressive, rich, powerful, full-bodied, beautifully balanced Bordeaux in a classical idiom. Already pleasurable, especially with the right food, but once the tannins have polymerised further, the fruit opened up and greater complexity developed, then this will be wonderous. A chateau I'd love to get better acquainted with.

  • Spectaculaire. Premier Trotanoy, pas mon dernier. Profondeur, longueur, complexité, au nez en bouche. Impeccable!

  • Seductive nose of dark cherries and plums, flowers, baking spices, and a hint of dried coconut. A touch above medium-bodied, an orb of earth and dark cherry on the midpalate, midbodied refined tannins, length for days, finishes with a dried herb and dark chocolate note. Very polished wine.

  • Deep garnet red concentrated black cherry blueberry notes full bodied with silky textured tannins and excellent length

  • No formal notes, over dinner. Quite expressive and open in the nose - generous red fruit, spices, tobacco, hints of licorice - very attractive and fine. On the palate a little more angular. Ripe fruit, bright acidity, noticeable tannins. Medium depth, very good length. 91-93?
