Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Tasted blind. Clear, pale golden color. Quite muted and rather boring, non saying nose. On the palate very fine, elegant, precise and dense with an almost oily texture. Very fresh, some hints of lime and very mineral. Solid finish. 91-92

Very good village. Even for a hot year no sensation of heaviness and the wine is very crisp. Around the table people thought it would be a 2014 or 2016.

My bottle seemed to me like it was some way off any peak drinking window, as the oak and reduction both took up a lot of room. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t good to drink now, it was actually a very nice wine that exceeds the expectations you wouls have for a Chablis AOC - the intensity and texture especially. Like lemon oil, the texture. A bit tropical with notes of mandarin. Grey pear. Minerality is steely and chalky, and there’s a feeling of raw crustacean. Lasts long! Maybe a little fuzzy around the one edges, compared to a 1er Cru and owing to the vintage. But so much wine for a Chablis village, and I would love to have more but I don’t.

Light straw, green tint. Chalky, mineral notes, grapefruit, icy butter. Slatey and mineral, oyster shells and lemon curd- tight but has that Ravenau richness. A Burgundy drinker's Chablis! For an AC ridiculously good, wish this was in more plentiful supply. Very impressive, just coasting.

60 years of Chateau Palmer (Torali): My first experience with Raveneau. Unfortunately this was at the end of a very long tasting and my palate was already tainted and tired, which is why I won't give a rating. However, what certainly is striking is the texture that I've heard Raveneau is famous for. The wine also feels very together and quite remarkable for "just a Chablis AOC". Impressive.

This was just stunning. A little bit of bottle age does wonders even at the AOC level. This was exotic with mandarin orange, white peach, star fruit. A little faint petrol that blew off quickly. Such extract and length for the level and vintage. Maybe not the most acidity for the long haul but it’s drinking great today

Dekantert i fire timer.

Utrolig ren. Sjødrevet og mineralsk i munn. Men frukten blir veldig kompakt og innesluttet. Høy modning, men moderat fylde. Pen syre og medium pluss lang finish med et hint av varme. Pen Chablis som mangler litt adresse for øyeblikket, trenger tid.

Burgundy, Rhone, Provence Trip; 9/3/2018-9/15/2018 (Burgundy, Rhone, Provence, France): Pale greenish color. Ordered this off the list at Le Millesime in Chambolle-Musigny. A damn fine bottle of wine that clearly elevates over its humble label. A bit coiled but fleshed out well over 20 minutes in glass. There's a healthy dose of fruit reflective of the vintage, though not razor sharp by any means, there seemed to be adequate acid. Citrus, lemon, tart fruit, sea breeze, brine limestone, has some nice intensity and length. 91+ to 92pts.

PnP. Given its youth, surprisingly open for business from the start. Exuberant nose, 2015 is evident here and even more on palate, where it shows wide, mouth coating, grassy. Without surplus of acidity, it feels a bit heavy and the short finish doesn't help. Certainly much better and more complex than your regular Chablis but this one doesn't cut it for me in this vintage. 87-88

Standard yellow in color with a bit of a amber accent. Sweet nose of melon, pear and an aroma of grass. First notes on the palate of seaside minerals giving way to lemon rind, grapefruit and sweet peach.

Lemon, butter, peach, sea shell minerality...a little wet and slight bitter notes initially on the palate but it's juicy and fleshy with a little peach fruit and some talc textured grip on the mid palate. Young.

This starts with a great scent of grapefruit and sweetness. Flavors of lemon curd and grapefruit balanced by honey, herbs and spice. Full in flavor, but nicely light in weight. Tremendous white burgundy.

Typé Raveneau, un peu laiteux, agrumes. Belle texture de bouche, plus en rondeur et en équilibre, superbe Villages. 91-92
Very typical Raveneau style, the texture is great, good balance and great level for a Villages.

Good but not great. Elegant and well balanced but not much complexity. I think the vintage didn’t help.
