Another strong and final btl from the vintage. This was 110% fresh and in the pocket. Pale green gold w/ all the Chablis signatures for minerality, salinity, citrus & stone fruit. Pristine & fabulous! 93+ Paid $35 on release.
Dull yellow. Floral, briny, iodine tones on the nose. Medium body with some glycerine (and a hint of vanilla) imparted by a kiss of oak. Highly focused lemon peel, salinity, light herbs, and great acidity. Cleansing and fresh. Outstanding Premier Cru that could be held but is completely enjoyable now. My kind of Chablis without any excess fat.
Perfect tonight w/ Rainbow Trout. This producer has spotty issues w/ premox but this btl was 110% fresh and in the pocket. Pale green gold color with all the Chablis signatures for minerality, salinity, citrus and stone fruit. I haven't bought any addl Billaud Simon since the 2017 vintage. Hopefully they have switched to the Diam cork by now? This btl was great! Fingers crossed on my remaining btls.
Drank from slightly smaller version of Riedel's Montrachet shape with a wide shallow bowl. I think of this glass as my "Chablis glasses". I don't like Reidel's official puny "Chablis" glass. Healthy light gold green. Breezy sea shore aromas. Palate staining, lively, sappy stoniness, citrus, salinity & hints of stone & tropical notes. Mostly citrus & mineral 13% alc. 93+ I'd run into some pre-mox in past couple years with other BS cuvees but this ones going strong! 2 left that I'll drink up by 2030.

Pale yellow in color. Classic aromas of yellow citrus oils, sea shell broth, green herbs and yellow flowers on the nose. Superb and well delineated palate shows sappy and tactile yellow-green citrus, green apples/herbs, good acidity and a long saliva inducing mineral and floral finish. Wow!

Very Good+ Drank very nicely with a preparation of Ludo Lefebvre's Jambon Chablisienne recipe. This showed beautiful minerality and light touches of citrus pulb and zest. Zippy and still solid. However, I wish it showed more stuffing. This is drinking well now, but I don't see a point in holding much longer. 13% abv

Chablis 1er Cru 2014 (Stock, Oslo): Middels intens duft.

Long en bouche.

First of a six pack. Pale yellow gold in colour and with a salty citrus bouquet. More of the same plus white stone fruits on the palate with a long citrus infused finish. Lovely wine and while I love the style no real fireworks, but that could be the post Xmas thing. Needs food. Early days and no rush based on this bottle. Try again 2024.

Yellow. All citrus and algae on the nose. Light, brisk lemon, lime, and soil. As much as I love the acidity, the finish veered toward being puckery and almost sour. Less than optimal sugar/fruit balance, so I am curious to try another bottle.
Beautiful accompaniment to a light summers meal dining outside. Pure and fresh sea spray, citrus, hints of fruit over a bits of stony rock. Loved this; the whole family did.

Jimmy's btl. In contrast to the 2017 chablis tonight this is full on ready to go and a blast. Pale gold green color. Breezy sea shore aromas. Mouth coating, lively, sappy stoniness with plenty of fruit. Stellar purity. Terrific sense of its place. Love, love love it! Yea, still 4 myself. Yea!
Pours youthfully light straw yellow, with flecks of green. The nose gently wafts sea spray, sand, lime peel, green apple, plant stem, pear, and toast. The palate is high acid, linear, and clean. Very nicely done. Not any kind of massive complexity today but thoroughly enjoyable and beautifully friendly with seafood.

this wine is finally coming around to what I tasted in it earliest youth... the change is significant so thinking this should be drunk in the next 2-3 years... this now tastes like a true '14 chablis with lift and citrus... the weird flavors it was putting off a year ago seem to have left the scene

Pale gold color. Aromatics of citrus zest, crushed stone & oyster shell salinity, jasmine and hints of butterscotch spices. Crisp and lean with luscious flavors on the front palate, gaining dense layers of rocky earth and citrus peel fruit with dried floral, white pepper and savory spice depth. Vibrant acidity with fleshy middle and closing structure. Good depth and moderate to long length on the finish. Excellent, drinking very well.

Tout à fait agréable. Typiquement Chablis.

Medium yellow/green. Wonderful essence of Chablis nose-herb, green fruit, and saline tones. Medium weight, good brothy intensity although it didn't have quite the acidity I expected of a 2014. Lime and mineral extract, terrific length and persistence.
I've been through most of a case. One bottle was premoxed and one was corked (the corked one was opened at Batard w/Kretchmar and confirmed by the somm). Other bottles have been good, but most of the recent bottles, including this one, suggest that this is not one to age longer. Some lemony notes, some briskness, but I think this was better as a younger Chablis. As noted in a tasting note below, given the vintage, I expected more. Not bad, but ultimately, not what I will think about when recalling 2014 Chablis.

My third or fourth bottle from a case already, and whereas the prior bottles were young, brisk and nervy, this one begins that way but ends kind of dull. The palate is nice and clear, no overt oak, notes of lemon and, as it airs, saline notes emerge. But by the end of the bottle, it's kind of flat.

Opened last night. Quite good, if a little tight at this young age. Nice stony minerality to go with the white blossoms in the nose. Steely but expressive in the mouth as well. Good bottle, should improve with more bottle age. 4-12-17-9: 92/100.

Jimmy's btl and same btl as R&RLer. Billaud Simon is my "go to" producer for Chardonnay from anywhere. Thankfully, my evangelizing of Chablis and this producer in particular means I have lots of local buddies who now open these regularly too. I love this wine and own six more myself. Only thing better is walking up the Billaud Simon ladder to Montee De Tonnerre and beyond.

Rhones and More at Jimmy's (Jimmy's Place, Mpls): Pale gold color. Drank1 glass over 30 minutes. This is another '14 rockin' it. Very vibrant, crisp and fresh with great stony minerality, crisp lime with a florall lime blossom note. The palate has a brilliant energy of citrus fruits, lime, limestone, and driven acidity. Love this vintage.

Nine months since my last bottle and this is much more a classic 2014 Chablis, which of course isn't a bad thing. Open-knit nose of apple, white flower, and crushed rock, with apple on the palate. The minerality from earlier bottles is still there but this already comes across more fleshly and less austere. Drink starting 2018.

Lys farge. God lengde.

I was disappointed by this initially, after opening & giving it very little time. After taking the last glass after two days (of being pretty well-sealed), this seemed to shed some weight. It now has more of a steely/citrus tinged mouthfeel, which I find much more pleasant. I don't get a lot of complexity now, though I'm sure that aging this in a refrigerator for 2 days after opening doesn't help. I would imagine a better performance w/ proper aging.

Lovely showing of classic Chablis lemon and marine character, with additional smoky hazelnut richness emerging with time and a little warmth. The richness is nicely leavened with the kind of zingy acidity I look for in Chablis. Good intensity on the mid-palate and moderate length. This won't rock your world, but it's very solid for the price, and a great compliment to the right food.

this wasn't as good as I would have hoped based on prior reviews, have loved many of the (admittedly young) 2014's I have tried, this is good too but simply performing to its level rather than outperforming at this time... was nice and bright, but the density wasn't much there... hoping the next is a bit better, but not disappointed for the price either

Another killer BS! Creamier and not as intense with acidity as the MdT at this point. But has that wonderful sea air and crushed geology perfume, limestone dust...ripe orchard fruit, some casaba melon sweetness...balanced well with lemon citrus and green apple tartness...rainwater pureness. One to drink sooner than the MdT...another fantastic 14 Chablis!

superb right out of the bottle, reminded me of a slightly lighter version of Paul Pernot Pucelles 2006, mouthwatering lemons and acidity on the palate but with a touch of sweetness to make it luxurious... interestingly this flattened out a bit with time in the glass... that made me wonder, if it hadn't this bottle would have been a 93 or even 94... that says a lot for a wine that cost $35-$40

Very vibrant, crisp and fresh with great stony minerality, crisp lime with a florall lime blossom note. The palate has a brilliant energy of citrus fruits, lime, limestone, and driven acidity. Love this vintage.

Had over two nights with a similar impression to RLOVE's, except that minerality seemed quite pronounced in this bottle. I was hoping for just a bit "more" out of this bottle, but it is very good.

God lengde.

Tonights btl was left in the freezer a bit too long in order to bring it down to where I wanted so it was little cold and muted but still a pristine example of classic Chablis and delicious with crab cakes on a relaxing Friday evening.

Nice mineral aromas. Light and delicate in the mouth. More tangy and elegant than the Vaillons. Lacks some length and concentration.

Medium+ intensity nose is elegant with lemon citrus, lime, and stone fruits aromas. The palate is bright and fresh with juicy acids, nice aroma replays and excellent length on the finish. Should be better in a couple of years.

Expressive, attractive nose of lime blossom, apple, and crushed rock. On the palate, wow, this is like sucking on rocks, with intense minerality and incredible concentration. Bone dry. This is really enjoyable now but wait if you can. Drink starting 2019.

Phenomenal Chablis! Mouth coating, lively, sappy stoniness with plenty of fruit. Stellar purity. Terrific sense of its place. Love, love love it! Why do I bother buying other Chablis producers. Oh yea, I love Chablis period, and have to hoard & drink it all. 93+

Open knit nose of lime, apple, and crushed rock. Intense minerality dominates the palate—liquid rocks! Old vines concentration. The 2014 Mont de Milieu needs time to unwind. Drink starting 2019.

Intense nose of lime blossom, apple, and crushed rock. Incredibly concentrated minerality on the palate; this is like sucking on rocks. The low-yielding, old vines are evident. I find this hard to put down now but it really needs some rest. Drink starting 2019.
