  • Excellent wine in a great place. Calm with the cherry stillness others have noted. This has settled down from a few years ago, when it was more rugged...Glad I have followed this evolution over the lifespan of the 2014 vintage. The acidity here will no doubt give this another half decade or more of interest.

  • Pop and pour. This is much better than the last bottle I opened several years ago. It has really smoothed out and absorbed some of the rather harsh tannins of its youth. The nose is quite pretty with bright cherry and other red fruit. While initially somewhat thin on the palate, with a little air it opens up quite nicely, following with notes of cherry and strawberry confit, developing some brambly but not offensive tannins. This unresolved structure, however, does detract somewhat from an otherwise elegant and feminine wine.

Good now… We’ll see how it is in a few hours… will likely benefit from several years of cellar aging. Looks like it is in the first peak of maturity.

  • Bags loads of fresh cherry flesh, raspberry and strawberry confit.
Medium-bodied, this is a very approachable wine, drinking very nicely with strawberry and cherry flesh underscored by brisk acidity. Fairly generous and richly textured, the ripeness of fruit give fruit-induced tannins and a supple round mid-palate. There is depth and persistent to the length - hugely enjoyable wine and better than I remember!

  • Quite expressive on the nose and seemingly in early maturity with wonderful bright and crisp red cranberry and currant fruit aromas playing off of hints of earth, stem, violet, and a subtle hint of backing spices and lurking blue marl minerality. Air highlights the baking spice though they remain fairly restrained. Delicate in the mouth, tense and fresh with fine grained tannins, slightly prominent acidity and decent length. On the delicate side of Burgundy though well perfumed in the mouth with tart red berry strawberry and rhubarb flavors. Lacy and fine, fun, almost, then this lacy but tensile structure kicks in holding everything together. To be served with a slight chill alongside grilled fish and it seems well suited for its fate. Unremarkable but satisfactory and with room to improve.

24 hours from half a mag corked on the counter: More reticent than yesterday but with attractive purity to the subtle layers of floral, underbrush, crunchy red fruit, and stony aromas. This has gained weight since yesterday and comes off as decidedly more tannic and mineral today. Added some length as well. Very delicate, pure, high toned and refreshing. It’s not terribly complex but there is some depth here and the inner mouth perfumes are attractive.

  • In my opinion a bit too soon to open these. It never really opened like I would have hoped. Good potential but just stern at the moment.

  • This is a gorgeous, user friendly wine, totally ready to drink today! This has limpid, red cherry fruit, with a whiff of earth and spice. Its quite tasty.

  • Pale+ cherry red
Aromas of kirsch, herbs, stem notes and broken twigs is followed by redcurrant, Bing cherry, rose hip, smoke and pomegranate.
Lighter weight, elegant wine with marked acidity, there is a coolness freshness to the wine. Slight chalky to paper-fine tannins and a medium to short finish. As the wine unwraps the tannins become more sinewy, and there is a cherry stone bitter element. Whilst there is a spot of flesh here and there, the wine feels relatively lean, and the stems only accentuate the bones. Have several more bottles so will see how it develops in bottle.

  • Tasted over 2 hrs and day 2
-nearly semi-translucent dark red, minimal clearing
-low key dusty cherry red fruit wet stone
-med+ acidity, med/med- weight sappy black cherry raspberry hard candy slightly medicinal, med tannins; lovely focused red fruit a bit more intense on day 2
-sappy lively red-fruited early in its prime drinking window

  • Some initial tartness that opens to aging savory fruit that finishes nicely with spice, herbs, stems, vineyard air. A smoothness over an hour after opening. Excellent. Your high-end California pinots will seem like a mix of cherry cola and cotton candy in comparison.

  • Mushrooms, smoky cherries, leather, earth, minerally

  • I like this, perhaps the rusticity of the terroir is magnified slightly by the vintage but otherwise mid weighted with nice purity. Should drink well for a few years yet.

  • Vahvan tanniininnen. Ruoka: Ankkaa ja riistaa.
Nimi: palsta on kuin on kuin serpentiini eli käärme.
Hyvin pitkä ja hieno maku. Maaperä kalkkikiveä. Juhan suosittelema.

  • Light+ cherry red going to a garnet edge.
Distinct perfume of dried tarragon, pomegranate seed, underbrush and sour red cherry.
An energetic acidity on entry, linear with savoury elements. Whilst there is a plum skin texture and some fruit, overall, it feels a little lean, lacking much richness, whilst the acidity has a greener herb-y edge (stems inclusion?) to it - quite tight and reserved.
The wine unfurls towards the 15-minute mark and begins to settle with a little more fruit and complexity. It grew on me over dinner!

  • Decanted 6 hrs. A pretty big blast of herb infused strawberry and underbrush arrives in welcome fashion on the nose, a little funk too for a little extra kink. Immediate wave of acidity hits first then crests into a pretty well behaved and charming Burg. Yet to really take shape, this still has a lot of interesting things going on: tart red fruit that is tamed by our salmon, savory, good mineral thrust on the finish. Assuredly to improve after being kept sideways for a few years. Excellent and a very good value at $42

  • Um, this was a mistake to open, especially a magnum. I had read somewhere that Guillemot's 2014s were surprisingly open. Not this one. Everything you'd want but backward and sullen. Try again in 3-5 years from 750.

  • Guillemot Les Serpentières lineup: This really needed a lot of time to open up. First impressions were of a fairly one note wine with simple red cherry on a light frame, but a few hours of air change it considerably, bringing out an array of fresh floral notes, riper berried fruit, and some herbal (stemmy?) elements on the nose. It starts to show a lot more complexity on the palate too, with more layers to the bright red fruit and a savoury, earthy undertone on the back end. It's leaner on the palate than the '10 and the '15, though by no means austere. Excellent wine, though this needs time.

  • Clear, pale, ruby in appearance. The nose is clean with med(+) intensity. The palate is dry, with med(+) acidity, med (smooth, fine) tannins, med alcohol, med body, med(+) intensity, and a med(+) finish. Notes of red cherry, cranberry, strawberry, violet, red plum, cedar, cloves, and forest floor.

Outstanding wine that hits all the right notes. Delicious now but will probably be way more interesting in 3-5 years and will easily age at least 10 years. This was our favorite in a horizontal tasting of three Kermit Lynch burgundies. Hold.

  • What Seth said.

One of my favorite great value/ quality burgundy domains. This will be interesting to see how this develops with age- has the right stuff, but always hard to keep hands off because they show well in their youth.

  • Opened and decanted this about an hour before drinking which was perfect. Knew this would be young but couldn't resist trying first bottle from a case. This has a lot of great potential and should be singing in 6-8 years. I plan on holding off on a majority of my bottles until then. Lots of usual red fruits and a pleasant pepper note on the back. Great balance with all the right characteristics to go the distance. Excellent value and score likely to creep up over time

  • PnP. The nose is beautiful, fragrant, light and red: roses, a herbal/vegetal/green pepper thing (which works nicely here), red spices, some sweet and perfumed red fruits: wild strawberry and Ranier cherry (yes, they are yellow, I know), there is almost a crystallized-candied element to the fruit at moments which is very pretty. This is bright and red on the palate, entering with sweet fruit and then lots of the savory herbal thing going on, then tart red cherry and berries and more florals. When trilled the fruit shows deeper reserves and a bit more darkness. Very pure and light. All of this moves smoothly into the finish, which is savory, light red, tart, with some minerality showing now. I figured 2014 and Guillemot would be a classic combination and I was not disappointed. Classic Red Burgundy. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5+/6, Finish - 4.5+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 16.5+/20 (with 17-17.5/20 potential.)

  • Still a bit young, needs time to open up. Nose is discreet and subtle, earthy, with subtle spices and peppery notes after opening. The palate follows the nose, elegant and balanced with medium acidity and a lingering mineral finish. A pretty wine that I would like to try again with bottle age.

  • I love this. I have already had the Narbantons, which was equally awesome. I had read that this is a little slower to come around... this bottle was so pure and delicious right now. It is cool and beautiful, with succulent, cool red cherry fruit, pretty baking spices (stems?), and lovely earth tones. I was enamored of this light bodied beauty. World class Burgundy for $37!

    Great note ALLRED!

  • Second Sunday Group: 2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (R&D's): Rose petal, cherry, red fruit and hints of earth. Soft texture. Cherry and subtle spice tones with a minerally note in the finish. Well-balanced.

  • Really approachable though young. Already a lot going on in the nose. Beautiful.

  • Eye: reddish purple
Nose: Mineral, earthy, forest floor, cherries and a saline note
Palate: Sour cherries, mineral with juicy acidity medium + but a short finish.

Overall this was nice but a bit tart, dominating the fruit. Surprised given the vintage but still fun to drink. Enjoy!

  • Tour du Monde (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Moderate fruit, spice hints, with some background earth notes. Not as forward or concentrated as Narbantons, but more structure and intriguing textures. While I prefer the Narbantons overall, this might have greater longevity.

  • Sweet, earthy cherries on the nose followed by tart cherries on the palate. Classic Guillemot, this will be fantastic with some age--both near and long term. It's amazing how delicious this wine always is so young. Will wait 6 months to try again.
