My first experience with Simone. A fair bit of smoky reduction at first, seemingly burgundy like. That mostly blows off after an hour or so, showing a wine that seems halfway between Rhone and Italy (maybe verdicchio). No fatness, but a waxy texture with unique flavors of lemon oil, fuji apple, hay and dried mint, Brazil nuts, and a decent amount of phenolic bitterness. Layered and long. While I get the comparison to Musar, this leans more intellectual than pleasurable one, and to me Musar is often both.

WWC Hosting (FWC): Beautiful gold in the glass, with a nose of slight honey. I was excited to taste this bottle, and certainly not disappointed. Very complex on the palate, slightly oily, minor oxidation, low-ish acidity. Very good wine.

Just stunning. The telltale pine resin notes kicking in, waxy palate, layers of honeyed fruits, good acidity and brightness. Asian spices as well (a note of curry). Not going anywhere anytime soon.

Lovely stuff. Now a brilliant gold in the glass and giving up almond & bees wax honeycomb scents with time. This has some heft and texture to go along with a dry mineral entry. It paired perfectly with the entree of Steamed baby Manila Clams, Smoked Scallops, in house cured bacon, Shallots, Wild Leek Butter, & White Wine Broth. As the evening unfolded so did this wine showing figs, a voluptuous mouthfeel, subtle spice and length on the finish. Such a versatile match with food and can stand alone on its own merits.

Tremendous wine, once again. Pine resin, white stone fruits, chalk, citrus marks. Expressive, complex, singular. Hasn’t moved at all since my last note in 2019 where I told myself to keep hands off for now. Well, I forgot. No big problem, this is great wine today.

Gold in color, rich somewhat muted ripe stone fruit. Waxy, viscous notes with some herbal notes.
Med- acidity and alcohol is in check
Stone fruit but restrained and secondary flavors coming through. Rich wine and great viscosity. This is a serious white. Not sure of aging but in a good place now so would drink now and would expect at least 2-3 years to still have some fruit on the palate.

Rich, concentrated, and exotic. A bit viscous. This is my first Chateau Simone, and I have to say that I’ve never had anything quite like it. This is not driven by fruit at all. The first impression is one of waxiness, then nuttiness, then florals, then spices like nutmeg and clove, then chalk. Only afterwards are there subtle flavors of fruits that not usually associated with wine: cantaloupe, kiwi, persimmon, those dried out chewy pineapple rings. The wine is deep gold in color and tastes fully mature without a hint of tiredness. Tough to say how it will fare in the future, but it sure is tasty, complex, and wonderful now.

A blend of organically farmed Clairette (80%), Grenache Blanc (10%), Bourboulenc (5%), Ugni Blanc (3%) and Muscat (2%). Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in oak vats. Aged for 18 months in old oak barriques, of which the first 6 months with fine lees. 13,5% alcohol.
Quite deep and somewhat developed golden yellow color with a slightly bronze core. Rich, concentrated and somewhat evolved nose with seductive aromas of beeswax, wizened apricots, some woolly notes, a little bit of apple sauce, light sappy herbal tones, a mineral hint of wet stones and a touch of kiwi. The wine feels developed, lively and somewhat concentrated on the palate with a medium-to-moderately full body and intense, complex flavors of chopped nuts, ripe red apples, some caramel, a little bit of stony minerality, light notes of greengage and cantaloupe, a hint of dried stone fruits and a touch of herbal spice. The acidity feels moderately high and well-balanced, and the mouthfeel isn't as rich and oily as in more recent vintages. The persistent finish is dry, slightly warm and enjoyably acid-driven with a slightest hint of tannic tug on the gums. The aftertaste leaves complex flavors of wizened red apples, some cantaloupe, a little bit of mature nuttiness, light stony mineral notes and a hint of beeswax in the mouth.
A very fine and sophisticated example of Simone Blanc with good sense of concentration without coming across as oily and viscous as the more recent vintages. Aromatically this feels both more evolved and more impressive than the vintage 2014 that was tasted alongside. However, while the 2014 seemed like it is going to have a long life ahead, this vintage feels like it is pretty close to its peak. Most likely the wine will still keep for years more, but I suspect any further development is going to be quite limited. Probably best if drunk soon or within the next handful of years.

Still very young and just as exciting and impressive as I thought in 2017 when I drank this wine for the first time. Notes of pine and resin, melon and chalk. Complex already even if his will open up an evolve with several more years in the cellar. Wait for this.

Very complex nose, hay, mushroom, camomille, some oak, orange and lemon peel. Ripe. On the palate quite difficult to define. Some bruised apple (but agreeably so), ripe peach, lemon balm, verbena. Medium bodied. A bit cloying and tired. Maybe not the best cellaring for this bottle?

This is an extraordinary bottle of wine. Beautiful golden color, significant up the nose aromatics, rich, full bodied, round full mouthfeel, maybe some skin contact, oxidation.
Many of the previous tasting notes make good points. This is a significant wine with a lot of personality.
I did not know there was a wine classification Grand Cru De Provence, now I do. I think they earned it, a fantastic life altering bottle of white wine. It should be noted that this bottle comes with an extremely long, high quality, cork ... they are in it for the long haul!

Conflicted. I personally like this wine. My wife hated it. I cooked with it in a chicken, onion, garlic mustard dish (which was awesome, imo). In my opinion, it continued to pair well with the dinner dish and stood up to it. My wife felt otherwise. She smelt fumes (I must have a broken nasal system, which I'm well aware of). Anyways, I recommend chilling this bottle before serving it.

Downtown Offline (Water Grill): I didn't know what to make of this wine. Ever changing in the glass, it started with lots of nutty and savory flavors and morphed to show more stone fruit as time went by. Silky texture. Super interesting, but somehow it did not call out to me. For the quality it may deserve a higher score.

Tangy, rich, and vervy, this was in really good form tonight. Energetic and racy, there's a wonderful knife's-edge balance of sweet and sour, and a slightly oaky richness that complements the acidity of the wine wonderfully. A bit of pineapple, ripe intense melon, salted butter, and lightly-roasted hazelnuts.
There's a nice presence of oxidative notes that add real layers of complexity, and the wine is super long and with a pleasingly mouth-filling texture. It was a great complement to a chabichou salad on toast with lardons and walnuts.

Rarely has a wine blown me away as much as this one did. First off, the nose is intoxicating. There is so much going on in terms of a variety of green and white fruit but then there's the saline and citrus marks that steels the show and cuts through the fruit like a laser beam. On the palate there's Hermitage richness, which I like, the fruit is deep and penetrating with the richness and complexity that comes from old vines and then, again, there's and incredible minerality kicking in at the back end. Can I taste the pine resin as well? Yeah, maybe. Having just tasted Chapoutier's 2014 single vineyard Hermitage blancs which also blew me away, I would say this wine is just as impressive and it's, what, 1/5 of the price. World class wine here.

Can I taste the pine resin as well? Yeah, maybe. Having just tasted Chapoutier's 2014 single vineyard Hermitage blancs which also blew me away, I would say this wine is just as impressive and it's, what, 1/5 of the price. World class wine here.

Great stuff. Intensive yellow colour. Apple juice like. Nose opens up with air. Nuts, honey, spices. Minerality. Elegant texture on the palate. Some cream. Again this nice minerality paired with honey and spices.
