Followed this for over three hours, and it was quite austere the entire time - dry to the extreme. No question that it's well crafted for its style, but it's a style that neither Laura nor I care for. If I decide that I want to life a life of austerity I will become a monk.

Old Bordeaux (10 years or older) (Capital Grille - Minneapolis): Nice Rose with hints of cherry and raspberry, some toast and some slight oyster shell. This was another good starter Champagne and contrasted nicely with the blanc de blanc served along side. Another solid 90 for me.

Bought in 2014 (unsure of base wine year but suspected was around 2011-2) and unfortunately (or not), lay forgotten stored in a box of mixed wines. Rediscovered a couple of weeks ago, popped and poured last night.
As expected, colour was more of a mixture of light orange and dark pink though it looked attractive in its own way. Was not expecting much but boy did it deliver. Lovely mouthfeel with fine beads and good, non overpowering acidity. Bright strawberries and cherries mingled with fine thyme & earthy notes. Decent length. Very satisfying and went very well with our harissa based roasted vegetable & butterbean salad with halloumi cheese.
Suspected it would be a bit more refreshing and would work well as an aperitif when younger but in this slightly older form, was quite a decent food wine.

Bright pink lady apples! Very balanced acidity with a lactic finish that makes this wine very unique. Cherry finish and little oak make this a fruit-forward rose, but with an ever changing and complex finish - it really will grow on you.

I was reluctant to bring this to a wine group dinner as I love it so much I prefer to only open it at home. Alas, I was rewarded with several unsolicited raves from others in my group. Hopefully some of them will seek it out too and share a btl! This was a major find from Greg at Envoyer. I need to horde 3or4 more! Salmon pink w/ seemingly weightless concentration, purity & class. 65% PN adds the richness & fruit yet this is very ethereal and almost brut zero like in its precision. Really punches above its modest price point. I love this wine!

My final bottle of this so it's time to reload again. Like the previous two, a base of 2014, disgorged 09/2018, using biodynamic approach. 35% Chard, 65% Pinot Noir. 40% done in wood. We polished off about a 1/3rd of the bottle tonight, and it seemed a little heavy to me in texture. I admit that my palate has been off for the past few weeks, and although improving, it's not all the way back so take this note with some skepticism. Peach in color, as well in the wine's flavor, along with a raspberry cream, strawberry, mint and a lick of saline from the Verzenay chalk, I assume. Plenty to drink over the next few days, as I stoppered it up with the snap closure so we should be good with CO2 and another view into the wine tomorrow, even into Sunday.

On a recommendation, I bought three bottles of Hugues Godme Rose and opened the first one week later. I was disappointed with this first bottle. Beautiful colur and very fine bead, but there was no escaping an upfront bitterness which spoiled the enjoyment. Others who shared the bottle found the same. I'll reserve judgement until the other bottles have had more time to rest.

35% chard, 65% pinot noir. Lot Ro T14. Disgorged 01-19.
Light rose gold with delicate bubbles. Nose lively red fruits, a rocky tinge. Palate mouth filling bright red fruits with a tangy edge, a blood orange tinge, rocky minerals.
Delicious, a wonderfully drinkable NV rosé.

Pours a pale copper. I was really quite taken with this. The nose is fabulously expressive of rose petals, brioche, toffee, fresh cherry, caramelized orange peel, and fresh meyer lemon. The palate is wonderfully balanced. Bright, fresh meyer lemon acid. Low-ish dosage and a long finish replaying much of the nose.
Perfect late afternoon on Ciao Bella Bloomington's patio on a picture perfect crisp but dreamy MN Fall day. Our color in the Minneapolis St Paul metro is at near peak. The day may have raised this a point or 2 but I was delighted with it and the ahi tuna crisp pairing. Pale salmon pink color. Delicate aromas of brioche and berries followed with a most impressive precise, focused and racy blast of; strawberry, mineral, spice and toast. This is very ethereal. elegant and classy for the price. Being unfamiliar with the producer I grabbed only 1. I'd love to have at least 3-6 more now. Paid $40, easily drinks like $60+. Loved it! And objectively, its at least 91pts+ The whole day starting with a terrific crisp and fresh morning hike in the golden gauzy Fall woods may be in play too :).

35% Chardonnay, 65% Pinot Noir, disgorged 9-2018. 12% alcohol. Salmon colored, fine bead; medium-plus intensity aromatics, some peach and melon; medium bodied, bracing acidity throughout, citrusy, watermelon, lime; finish is medium-plus length. This is a lovely rose champagne that outperforms its modest price point. I would buy this again. 91

Last of the bottles from my spring Envoyer shipment and sad to see this go. Sipped this as we were overlooking Lake Sunapee and contemplating the 19th anniversary of 9/11, the end of summer and the weird year that 2020 has been. As with previous experience - this is an acid lover's champagne -super bright and racy. Clean and precise with some red berries, and lingering acidity on the palate. Very refreshing.

Second bottle of three that I bought together. Base of 2014, disgorged 09/2018, using biodynamic approach. 35% Chard, 65% Pinot Noir. 40% done in wood. I opened this bottle three days ago, and it's retained a portion of the CO2, with this being the final remaining glass. Peach and gold colored. The acidity in this bottle is very elevated, and you need to be an acid lover (as I am) to enjoy it. It creates a bright, crisp, citrusy core that is very present. Stone fruits (like peach and plum), with lime rind, red berry, watermelon and some licorice, all jazzed up by the acidity. It's been hot here, really hot and this bottle chilled down, with the vibrant acidity just feels like a perfect fit. Just note that this disgorgement of Godme Rose is made for acid lovers.

Godme rose. 35% chard, 65% pinot. Lot ro T14. Disgorged 1/19 Initially exuberant bubbles, then a delicate bead, within a brilliantly coppery gold color.
Nose slight wax, very bright strawberry and cherry notes.
Palate wonderfully bright, tart red cherries with a light brioche richness. Goes very well with rich Japanese potato salad and cured mackerel.
Still young I think, could use another year or two to gain more depth; has the acidity that needs to get more into balance. But a lovely drink now

Base of 2014, disgorged 09/2018, using biodynamic approach. 35% Chard, 65% Pinot Noir. 40% done in wood. Opened this last night, it showed really well so we decided to bring home the few ounces remaining and stopper the wine, which has maintained enough of the CO2, too. This is lightly peach colored with a salmon tone. It drinks with a leaner feel than past bottlings, with a precision and balance that is energizing. Crisp lime, green apple, strawberry and a clean salinity that drives through the finish, along with a cool yeasty note. This particular disgorgement is the most energized I recall of the Godme Rose NVs, and it reminds a bit of the Marguet Shaman Rose, in that same style. Delicious.

Light cranberry crimson with vibrant bead. Nose red berries, hint of brioche, a slight honey richness. Palate red berries, very clean — a mineral spine, good depth to midpalate, long finish. with time, more notes of blood orange balanced by a brioche richness.

Just had the last of three bottles I bought from Envoyer last year and I will count myself as a fan, particularly at the $39.99 price point. A bit more racy acidity, some red berry lively bubbles - no sweet notes that I sometimes pick up in Rosé champagne. Great job for the pice point.

This rosé has a rustic cooper color (at least under the restaurant lights I was at). Strawberries, good acidity, dry, from tip of tongue, mid palate to back of throat, this wine was very tasty. Had it with Japanese dishes. It went very well with grilled rib eye steak, spicy tuna don, fried chicken, grilled squid, fried octopus, and pork. It's a rosé that wine geeks and non-wine geeks will like. Re-buy for me at $40.

Charleston V - the wooden anniversary; 11/6/2019-11/10/2019 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): Something lovely about starting a day with bubbles and given how intense the previous few days were I was pretty excited to have these. So was this the best champagne I've ever had? Nope, but it was one of those experiences where it was especially delicious. Very bright and fresh. Tasty. A good start to the day.

Chris Ringland pop-up tasting (Terroir Tribeca): Who doesn't like pink bubbles? I'd say this one was a totally fine version, but not sure I'm 100% convinced. It was more tartness and bubbles. Usually like a touch of fruit, but didn't see that.

This is from 750, from a new batch of bottles I bought back in December 2018. The back labels on these seems to be in constant change with what I presume are new disgorgements. This bottle's back label has a disgorge date of October 2017, with a composition of 35% Chard / 65% Pinot Noir, yet there is no dosage info. This has a salmon color, and perhaps a little toasted aroma. The back label does say 40% done in wood, so not sure what the program is for this batch, but maybe the 'chene' is talking. Has a good spine of lime to provide acidity, along with some green apple and raspberry. Touch of saline passes through the finish, and all together, this is drinking solid for the $40 I paid for it. The NV Godme Rose, like Dethune, continues to be a strong performer for my cellar.
Lot's of salmon tinged pink color. A lean and clean style of Champagne. Light fruit characters with some mineral. Fresh and very lightly sweet. A handsome package. Not a ton going on but certainly a very food friendly build. Good stuff.

Wow, this far exceeded expectations. Lots of energy with good cut from citrus acidity that keeps nice cherry and strawberry flavors fresh and lively. There is also a mineral streak that runs through to the finish. Great value and will improve further with additional age. First experience with this producer and I will be looking to buy more.

Last of the half-case before Thanksgiving meal. Like the last few bottles, nearly impossible to open. The cork seemed to be literally glued into the bottle. It came out in two pieces without injuring anyone after I got medieval on it. The wine has remained outstanding and has aged flawlessly. Delicate bead, berry aromas, round mouthfeel. Very sexy and very cleanly made. There is hardly a more useful wine than a split of bubbly. I wish I had more!
We drank a 375 of this earlier in the week, a wine that I consistently have enjoyed. The bottle for this note was from 750, and because Godme doesn't list the disgorge date on their back label, I have neither bottle date. 65% PN, 35% Chard with a very healthy dose of reserve wine (50%, and unsure of the base vintage for the balance). 4 g/l. Fleshy, stone fruit pit, zesty. This bottle showed a nice rugged quality, with bright citrus. Finishes with a red fruit quality and the same zesty tone. When I drink this Rose, I consistently get the energy and fruit. It's what I like about Godme.

From 375 with a light weeknight dinner. I really have get more of these, as they are just the right quantity for my wife and I to enjoy and finish through the meal. 65 PN, 35 Chard @ 6 g/l. Peach colored, cherry, green apple, citrus and brisk enough to be refreshing but not taut. I continue to enjoy this Godme Rose.

As I was preparing to write this TN, I looked at my Feb 2018 comments and tonight's bottle is pretty much dead on the same. same batch, not surprising: 65 PN, 35 Chard @ 6 g/l. Strawberry, licorice, apple and approachable in texture/acidity. Nothing complicated here and yet I appreciate that Hugues Godme is making the commitment to farm clean, make wines that are affordable (I paid $25 US for this 1/2 bottle) and create a Rose that shows good balance, fruit, acid and satisfaction.

Enjoyed this over two nights. Definitely more settled on night two. Moderate nose of melons, berries and minerals. Palate is chalky and mineral-driven with light berries in the backdrop. Clean with good energy throughout. A bit simple. 6 g/l dosage. Good now, likely better with another year or two of bottle age.

These little 375s are perfect for a dinner mea with my wife and I. Just enough to pour me a large glass and her a smaller one. This bottle showed a mix of lean strawberry, cherry pit, licorice and apple. The acidity on this is very lively and it drinks refreshing. Finishes with a bit of chalk and cherry. Paid $27 for these bottles, and if I see more at Envoyer, will reload. So easy and good to drink.

Second bottle in as many months. This time from 375, as I was happy to see a bunch of them at Envoyer on the wire rack so I bought a handful of them. Farmed cleanly by Godme, using 35% Chardonnay/65% PN, 6 g/l. Polished this off over dinner, first starting with it very cool, then finishing the last portion at room temp. Bread dough, zippy and brisk acidity, strawberry, light green apple and some finishing mineral.

First bottle of two I purchased. Dosage of 6 g/l, 65 PN/35 Chard, no disgorge date listed. Drank this at an idea temp, paired with pizza. Really enjoyed this. Has a mixture of red fruit--strawberry and raspberry, along with a cool, bitter note that helps add some coil. I'd have no pause for adding more of this to my cellar, to join Saves, Dethune and Vilmart for my Rose options.

From 375cc. Almost done with the lot, sadly. It has been three years since I have checked in with one of these. Again, the cork really does not want to leave this bottle without a serious fight. After lots of wrestling I managed to extract it without a break (no small feat). Again, I think this is feature of long aged champer splits. The wine has darkened considerable over the years. The taste remains the same and this is a truly wonderful NV rose. I wish I could rebuy at a reasonable price.

Peachy new copper colored. Initial aromas are very mushroomy in a great way. Medium light body, but powerful and firm with mushroom, minerals, orange citric backbone. No toast, but this would be awesome with toast and orange marmalade. This bottle disgorged March 2013.

From a late 07 or early 08 disg. this has now put on a great robe of richness. The color is dark and there is a core of flavors reminiscent of red grapefruit and red fruit notes. Tremendous thick grip which is mouth coating almost crunchy yet remains very refreshing with hints of pith. Better with some air so suggest serving in white wine glasses. Much more impressive than in it's youth in fact delicious.

Champagne Tasting at Gordon's (Gordon's Fine Wine & Liquors): 65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay. Color and some aromatics are derived from mixing in of 5% Pinot Noir base wine. My tenth 375 bottle of this. Again, the cork breaks on trying to open it, a very disconcerting experience for a champagne cork. I think may be an aging problem with 1/2 btls (small cork, gets stuck, lots of pressure, etc), but not much experience here. The wine remains quite simply fantastic. This is just such a fine rose for the price and it has always wowed whomever I have served it to. I could drink this everyday.

Bright, fresh, racey, mineral, light. Enjoyed it but I do prefer a bit more lushness, fruit and rounded mouthfeel. No doubt this is a well constructed and enjoyable champagne but I think it should be paired properly for food and is not very versatile. A bit age will probably mellow it out, and I would aim for that with this producer. In any case, still look forward to having this on another occasion to compare and contrast. Def think some age will improve this wine!

The 9th bottle of this one. Still a great wine, of course, this one just didn't quite excite as much as prior bottles. Part of the problem was temperature and glassware and no fault of the wine. Great texture, floral notes. Worked quite well w/ lightly fried sweet/spicy/citrusy calamari.

I'm not a big Rose drinker, but this is a beautiful example of how delicious these can be. Nicely balanced with strawberry, raspberry and peach notes with a nice mineral and acidity driven medium length finish. There is just a touch of sweetness but the mineral and acidity provides a nice balance. This was a delicious accompaniment with sockeye salmon cakes. I should have purchased more.

This one didnt live up to lovely character of the last 5 btls I have had of this wine over the last 2 years. In fact, the cork fragmented on opening, which is pretty darn unique for a champagne cork (I removed it with a cork screw). The color is simply gorgeous, but this one had a sl amt of funk on the note that seem to represent a bit of oxidation. This was found on the palate as well, and did not dissipate after an hour or so. Hopefully, this was just an anomaly in an otherwise phenomenal wine.

In line with previous bottles. A very food-friendly and nuanced rose. Strawberries and rose petals, with medium body and a medium-long finish. Not exceptional, but paired well with a variety of foods, and as always, appreciated by my wife. A great find for $10/half from Zachys. Threw a bit of sediment/lees which rendered the last glass slightly hazy, but seemed to have little effect on the flavor.

Unique. Salmon color with a slightly fruity nose. Just a little sweet, brings out the dancing fruit notes of strawberry, raspberry, and even peach. Good minerality offset nicely the sugar. This one went FAST....maybe the best testament to a different bubbly.

Gorgeous salmon color. Smells like rose petals and lilacs, but with a hint of alcohol. Not as yeasty as other champagnes I've had with plenty of strawberries and other red fruits.
The biggest issue I had with this wine is that it's way too bubbly. When you take a sip it foams up in your mouth, making it hard to enjoy and swallow. At $60/bottle I certainly wouldn't buy again.

Flavors of ginger, dough, black cherries and raspberries. Moderate acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the short term.

Sams Champagne Rose Tasting. An array of eight rose champagnes makes for a seductive, evocative sight as one can see the full spectrum of colors from almost raspberry to the palest streak of pink as in an evening sky. More than the other wines, rose provides visual splendour. This wine was a warm, salmon colour; heavily favouring Pinot Noir in the blend, it was quite lean and mineral, a hint of toastiness.

Lot ro T14. Disgorged 1/19
Initially exuberant bubbles, then a delicate bead, within a brilliantly coppery gold color.

Delicious.

Fleshy, stone fruit pit, zesty. This bottle showed a nice rugged quality, with bright citrus. Finishes with a red fruit quality and the same zesty tone. When I drink this Rose, I consistently get the energy and fruit. It's what I like about Godme.

After lots of wrestling I managed to extract it without a break (no small feat). Again, I think this is feature of long aged champer splits. The wine has darkened considerable over the years. The taste remains the same and this is a truly wonderful NV rose. I wish I could rebuy at a reasonable price.

Def think some age will improve this wine!

just a touch of Moroccan orange color, tons of tiny bubbles, a bit of fresh bread on the nose, again, very fine bubbles, small cranberries, toast, minerals, lemon zest and gorgeous raciness on the finish, extremely easy to drink, a highly elegant Brut Rose

Bright color, delicate floral nose, well balanced and very fresh in mouth, could be a perfect aperitif, combined with salmon rolls, or just relax and enjoy it alone, easy to drink

Having drunk 8 bottles of this over the last 2 1/2 years I can safely say that this champagne is awesome. In fact, it is my go-to sparkler, esp whe a rose is needed. Gorgeous color and bead, bright crunchy cherry and flowers on the nose, lovely texture. Complex, nuanced, medium length. I love this wine!

nose - com plex fruity nose with a suggestion of anise
mouth - strawberry, cherry, not highly complex, but still quite forward and yummy. relatively short finish as pointed out by evan. This is a cocktail champagne. 85% pinot 15% chardonnay

Beautiful bronze, salmon color. Lots of yeast on the nose. Mineral palate with some strawberries, peach, and yeastiness.... Good but not exceptional.

Solidly tasty rosé champagne, in an oxidative style. Like it but didn't love it.

Big yeasty and fruity nose. Strawberry/raspberry fruit; medium bodied. I liked the size, texture and boldness. Terrific stuff.

Unique. Salmon color with a slightly fruity nose. Just a little sweet, brings out the dancing fruit notes of strawberry, raspberry, and even peach. Good minerality offset nicely the sugar. This one went FAST....maybe the best testament to a different bubbly.

Nice, refreshing wine, with a nice salmon color and hints of currant mixed just enough crispness to make it relaxing. Sometimes too complex is not wanted. Solid.

Took one to Rob & Kim's -Lot's of creamy moose which offset the full flavored dry red fruit (strawberry & cranberry) with some nice lemony zest and a mouth gripping essence that went great with scallops & asparagus dish.

Ring in the Holiday (Farpointe Cellar): A nice nose of pastry, spice, and apple. It was crisp and clean on the palate, with a gritty taste of yeast and citrus.

Didn't take any detailed notes but this was a very nice Champagne. Medium bodied with some nice strawberry fruit. Good balance and clean finish that was on the short side.

Tasted August 4, 2007 as part of the Wino Depot Tasting With Friends event for August. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel Overture Champagne flute. Light pink/peachy kind of color with a clear hue throughout with a moderate to full mousse. Nose of baking spices, black raspberries, ginger snap cookies and maybe a hint of sherry.
