Sight: Dark almost black cork stain, in the glass heavy purple staining and deep color. The bottle was coated with sediment…. I’ve honestly very rarely seen bottles like this especially this young I drank a 06’ with less! (Andy Erickson “SevenApart” is the only other wine I saw throw sediment in the bottle like this and that’s at a significantly higher price point)
Nose: The nose commands your attention with Pure blackberry and dark plums having purple flower overtones. This has power with Cabernet Spices punching through with secondary notes of chocolate oak, vanilla, and a almost meaty/leather character I really enjoyed! I expected a big nose from a well aged Trefethen and this delivered.
Taste: The definition of a finely tuned Napa Valley Cabernet… This is drinking phenomenally atm I agree with other reviewers. The nose delivers what it teased you onto the palate and it’s quite a show with concentrated blackberry fruit and all the secondary notes in supporting roles. The tannins have a expected grip at the entry level wine but the oak/tannin management is clearly perfect here. The wine does come in a little hot (14.8%) I would say is my only complaint but with everything else going for it that was truly more of a after thought.
Overall: I tasted this next to a 2012 Heitz Cellars and a 2013 Trefethen Reserve which was quite cool! I was elated to show the stylistic differences of the two wines with everyone but the biggest surprise is how much better the regular 2013 Trefethen Cab drank over the reserve…. This wine was a clear demonstration of why you wait and when a wine is ready to drink; superlative example. On the other hand the 2013 Trefethen Reserve was very shut down and not open at all and everyone noticed and got to experience that so if you have any of the reserve I’d wait 5 more years without a doubt and drink these because they are killer right now! (But clearly show they can hold longer if you want to wait)

I’m loving this wine. Definitely more like a left bank Bordeaux, it even has some graphite and dusty leather. Good structure with resolved tannins and restraint on fruit. Could go longer (great finish). Delicious

Elegant, Old World notes of plums, cassis, currants, and garrigue. Mid-to-full bodied and deceptively complex, this shows tremendous poise, balance, and structure. A wine of place and restraint, and displays lots of future potential. My type of wine.

Classic Bourdeaux nose, palate, and taste - more so than a modern Napa. Solid balance, great fruit cassis, black currants, some herbs, and a long finish in a silky medium bodied wine. Really nice. Great on day 1 and 2, not so great on day 3. This was all under Coravin/argon... not sure what happened on day 3.

Was good but expected a little more from it. Was on the lighter side and wanted a bit more flavor and dryness to give that feeling of warmth that we love from older cabs

This certainly wasn’t built to age, but I thought a few years in the cellar might add some complexity. Unfortunately, this has lost fruit and is now quite dry and moderately high in tannin. While ok with a ribeye, this is austere and lean. That said, it’s still an ok tipple. Drink now. 87

Very nice Cabernet with a fairly typical profile for the region, but seems to be made in a fairly restrained style - not overly fruit forward, and with good structure. There's the slightest hint of earthiness as well to make this a well rounded wine.

Deep ruby red in appearance. Well rounded nose with damp forest floor, mushrooms, red plums, cassis and spices. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. A bit of earthiness on the palate with red plums, herbs and red gravel. Long finish. Drink till 2028.

Classic Trefethen, silky. Drinking really well right now -wouldn't wait much longer. Agree with some of the other comments that while this wine is very enjoyable, there isn't a ton of complexity.

Pretty pronounced aromatics of red fruit, cassis, blackberry, pepper skin. Maintaining some nice freshness on the palate with blackberry, hints of mint underneath and subtle oak. Medium acidity with chewy ripe tannins. Enjoyable crowd-pleasing Napa Cab -- won't open your eyes to something new, but nice and well made.

fully opaque, glass staining ruby/violet, prominent tearing; blackberry, black currants, roasted coffee, vanilla , lavender dust; black fruit, bell pepper, good persistence; prominent, fine, gritty tannin, 14.8% ABV; blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Merlot sourced from their estate vineyard in one of Napa’s coolest appellations, spending 18 months in 60% French, 28% American, and 12% Hungarian oak

Gave 2-3 hours of air before drinking and we all generally liked it. A little less bold on the flavor than we might like in order to consider this an epic Napa Cab, but it was delicious and everyone at the party enjoyed this.

Using the well known Napanomic theory of “Caymus-ization of Macro-vinocities” one can attempt to understand whether or not a given test product falls into yet another of the lesser known, yet widely used by Napanomic experts, theory of “Price Illogicality of Uneducated Consumption” which simply explains in layman’s terms the growing Napanomic issue of paying large sums of US currency for potentially very low returns on product purchases or investment assets. This is a growing concern for many highly experienced Napanomic advisers as the outlook for this regional occurrence now points to the newly published Napanomic theory coined “Extreme Acquaintance Overconfidence of Sharing Low Quality Trash” which could drive many longtime and historical friendships and groups to dissolve over the instability and frustration that this phenomenon is likely to cause.
Thus the summary of this Napanomic product clearly avoids the above issues and should therefore be purchased and consumed in very large quantities resulting in the likelihood of maintaining relationships and injecting positive Napanomic growth into the marketplace from not buying overpriced trash and calling it good wine lol.

Good cab if not a little young. Lots of dark red berry fruit flavors with heavy tannins. It tasted a little young to me. Could probably benefit from another year or two in the cellar.

Nice California Cab, which I don't drink much of. Nice on PnP and paired well with a grilled picanha steak. It showed some nice spice, very ripe fruit, somewhat monolithic, but not lazy or flabby. Soft, sweet tannins make it a friendly crowd-pleaser. Quite good if a bit boring.

A classic, but also modern styled Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Decanted prior to enjoying with a chargrilled ribeye steak. Deep ruby color. Young and developing aromatic profile. Medium plus aromas of black and red currants, blackberry, spicy red cherry, dark chocolate, mocha, and some herbal earth tones. Dry, but lively palate. Medium plus palate is focused with the slightly tart black and red fruits dominating, with chocolate, mocha, cinnamon, and herbal notes supporting. Body is full and alcohol medium plus. High, fine grained tannins and medium plus acidity provide structure. Finish is long with some of the herbal qualities coming to the surface. An outstanding wine displaying early complexity, great balance, focus and intensity, and a long finish. Can drink now, but likely will improve with further cellaring. Lots of upside with some age.

Inky black color. Nose is pure cab, with black fruit and currant, cassis and hints of dusty forest and evergreens. Very ripe and fresh. The palate is lush but also showing some taught tannin and sharp edges. More black fruit, some compote and new oak flavors. Hints of forest and black pepper. Very primary and young but still approachable and enjoyable. Could see a nice wine after 5 years.

Texas Independence Day requires the type of wine Walker Texas Ranger should be seen smashing over bad guys' heads...no time for being overly sweet...for round-housing them to the face for being unruly somewhere on 6th Street...that pairs well with a triple Whataburger...

Drank at a wine bar. Luckily had this decanted 3 hours prior to arrival. Ruby in color with a nose of cassis and dark cherry and a bit of alcohol. Drank over a couple of hours and this wine was still pretty tight. It is a medium bodied wine with big tannins and nice acidity. There was definitely some heat and this could use another year in the cellar. The nutty goat cheese log I had complimented this well.

Smells very woody. Loaded with wood-spice (cinnamon and clove). Very woody on the palate, but there is fruit there. Moderately tannic with medium-high acidity. This is fine, but isn't striking me particularly well. Only medium bodied which is shocking for a 2013 Napa Cab. Perhaps this will unfurl with time. 88
