Initially my instinct was 92-93 thinking it just needed to breathe.
Drank over a couple days and even with ample air seems overextracted and jammy. Not bad but I am not sure this wine is going in a good direction. Revisit in 5 yrs maybe. Good but not great at this stage 90+/-

Monbousquet is probably my favorite St. Émilion producer. And this vintage is a great example from the Château. In a great spot with a bit of air. Outstanding, in fact. Balanced fruit and tannins fill the mouth. Enjoyable textures flow into a nice clean finish. A beautiful wine.
Decanted 3 hours and drank over the next hour. Dark black color. Nice floral nose. First sip was chocolate cake with cassis, leather and spice. Oh yeah…my kind of StE. The Cab Franc lives harmonious with the Merlot. So smooth and elegant. This will easily get to 93-95 over the next several years. This is such a classic Monbousquet that will rival 2009 & 2010. Great extraction & flavor layers. Excellent.
This is not ready. Drying, harsh tannins, ripe fruit, and high alcohol. I’ve had some enjoyable Monbousquet at 10-12 years old, but this is becoming a concern at age 8. Although, I’ve seen more drastic turnarounds. 🤷🏻♂️
Had a 2015 last week that was pruney, unattractive, decided to try again from the cellar. This 2015 was back to what I am used to with Monbousquet. Elegant blackberry, cherry, moderate tannins, good structure, long finish, years to go.
last bottle short notes: tannins still at "ouch" level and the wine is already throwing sediment. not sure there's gonna be much left but alcohol and dried fruit by the time the tannins resolve... if ever. it's okay with food at the moment
on the nose and in the mouth: cherry cordial, espresso plum/cassis extract, leather, and beets. identifiable as Bdx blend with lots of new oak. alcohol is high. youth is obvious despite being mildly oxidized throughout.
no acid. medium minus tannin, but very drying and dominating the mouthfeel unpleasantly
for fans of the style. a bit too much alcohol, new oak, "ice cream" flavors, and basic ripe fruit for me

Wow! What a wine! Amazing deep merlot nose dark ripe fruit, earth, a bit of oak. I could smell this wine all day! On the palate, it had a lot of grip. I think 3-5 more years and this would’ve been absolutely perfect. 4 hour decant, paired wonderfully with prime rib and Yorkshire pudding. I will definitely buy a few more of these 2015’s.
Agree w prior note that this is singing right now. Drank over 2 days with a couple hours decant each day. Some red fruit/cherry but even more was the chocolate/espresso and smooth finish. I’m sure this will go much longer for those who like the more secondary/tertiary flavors but for my tastes I probably won’t wait too long to open my next bottle.
First look at the vintage from this St Emilion. PnP and let it breath in the glass. Black fruit, cassis, sweet earth, tar, slight bitter note at end from tannins. Drinks above its price point and crushes Napa in same category. 90/91
Usually a big fan of this wine , however, this vintage needs more time, tannins are pretty rough and feels a little bit disjointed. Still have more bottle to open in a couple of more years.
Black as pitch in color. Beastly and tannic on the backend. This is such a massive wine, it is just not ready and needs at least 5 more years in the bottle AND this was poured out of a 375ml bottle. Hold.

A great wine. Dark ruby color, long legs. Nose of dark red fruits. Palate with dark cherries and black fruits - cassis more than plum. It opened up nicely after 2 hours decanting - I will let my other bottle rest for a few years. Good acidity, ending shows some tobacco and a hint of sweet - maybe licorice. Tannins still prominent - this is a young wine but a very good one already.

This wine is no where ready to drink now despite aeration and 2 hour decant. Minimum 3 years more cellaring. I think this has all the stuffing to be 95+ points. It it full bodied, rich and will be nuanced with time. But right now it is tight as a drum and too alcoholic to really enjoyed. Wait wait wait

Decanted for 3 hours and paired with grilled Filets. Was worried this was infanticide but the wine has not shut down yet.
Dark red/black color. On nose, charcoal, sweet cherry, cassis (more prominent with air), raspberry. Full body, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins (covered by fruit) - flavor profile similar to nose. Rich but great structure - I loved this as did my wife. 93-94. Will buy some more.

As an old ”friend” of Monbousquet, I have to confess that this 2015 despite the youth, already provides a real pleasure to enjoy! It is surprisingly elegant and smooth with lots of pleasant flavours on the palate and a long silky finish! Have to order more of this, which is real value for money!
Ripe, fleshy and concentrated, the 2015 Monbousquet shows characteristics of a warm vintage. The nose is dark fruited and has subtle notes of graphite and cocoa nibs. It’s got nice extraction and intensity as well. Despite relatively high acidity it comes off a little hit, which is for me the main downside. It reminded me of the Tertre Roteboeuf of the same vintage with a step less complexity and higher perception of alcohol

I really like this wine and give it high marks for uniqueness. It is very approachable and while I can see it getting a lot better it is delicious now. Its a rich and deep flavored wines and you taste a lot of pleasant things. I tasted dark chocolate on the finish. The high percentage of new oak is seamlessly integrated. Sometimes you can tell the wine is of high quality but its not for your palate. This wine has beautiful quality and also just tastes great. I think it would go well with chocolate covered stawberries or chocolate cake. For me this is a must have from France. Well done!
Lovely black fruits. Decanted 2 hours still very astringent. Regret for the infanticide last night. More tannic than average Saint-Emilion. Lots of life ahead. Keep for at least 5 more years.

PnP and hour in glass from 375. This was drinking well after an hour in the glass to the point I was thinking- do I buy a case of ‘15, ‘16 and ‘18? Wonderful flavor profile backed by serious acid and minor lush tannins. Day two allowing it to slow ox in the bottle in real fridge to see what it would become (what is my fascination with stupid experiments- maybe for the good of science?). First sip cold (obviously) with the impression of lost fruit which now doesn’t cover up the acid as well. 91-92. After the wine warmed up it started to improve but not to the degree I would have hoped. Will hold my next bottle for 6 months to 1 year to see how it develops.

Very dark, deep garnet rim. Almost ink in the glass.
Nose: Baked plum, warm fruitcake, allspice, sweet tobacco, shaved pencil lead, cedar chest. Dense, slow, emerges out of the glass in layers.
Mouth: Waves of cassis, creamed blackberry, and boysenberry lead in a pronunced midpalate spine of graphite, espresso, and baking chocolate. Finish slips into a warm cedar, gunsmoke and tobacco firing long. Solid tannic tug seals the deal.
Overall: Dark, voluptuous, but with a stacked midpalate, this runs the bigger, riper end of the spectrum and completely reflects the warmer vintage. At first was worried about the richness of the nose, but there's a good bit of polished structure here to balance. As a result, this is a hard call to make regarding drinkability, as the fruit is ahead of schedule and the tannins are already powdery while the midpalate spine needs a bit of time to integrate.
In the end, richness and finesse are already here in spades, fans of the more opulent style can certainly drink now, those after more restraint should wait and see what it ends up being. A lovely wine, but very hard to gauge how it will age. 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
94.

Decanted for an hour. Plum, blackberry, new leather, black walnut, dried earth and raspberry. Full-bodied, and saliently wraps around your palate, with velvety tannins. The front is elegant, with a plush middle and the suave back leads to a gliding finish. Not shy, yet there’s a magnetic tension. In a lot of ways, this is reminiscent of a finer ‘03. Drink 2022 - 2037.

Waves of cassis, raspberry and black currants that overlay a lot of creamy oak. This is certainly a power wine and must be appreciated on it's own terms. Extracted and dense it's something that needs time but few lovers of the style will be able to keep from drinking this deliciousness now. I can't blame them. This is hedonistic and pleasurable and we all need things like this in our life. 93+

I drank this based on other reviews, early obviously, To see what it is drinking like. The wine is heavily extracted, something one might expect from a California cab. It is very fruit forward With red fruits, jammy. Very strong tannins and a decent finish. I would think with a number of years laying down, the fruit will balance out with the tannins as they relax. I would say wait until 2021, maybe longer. If you want to drink something like this now, open the California cab.

This Merlot, Cab Franc and Cab Sauvignon blend is darkest garnet, almost inky in the glass. The wine is full-bodied sharing a nose and palate of blackberry, black cherry, oak, mocha, vanilla, tar and licorice. It's drinking wonderfully after a "pop and pour" and the finish is only medium-length; accordingly, I would consume it right now or after a short stay in the cellar. The 2015 is radically different from earlier, more elegant vintages of Monbousquet and could easily pass for an outstanding Bordeaux blend from Napa, Sonoma or Washington. I really enjoyed the wine, but I fear it will disappoint Bordeaux purists looking for a more traditional, Bordelaise, flavor profile.

The 2015 is an impressive showing from Château Monbousquet. This blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon begins with seductive aromas of blackberries and dark cherries, which are woven together with spring florals, spices and a mocha character adding further complexity. On the palate this is full-bodied and layered with an opulent texture along with notable depth and concentration. Everything comes to an end on the long, voluptous finish. Open and expressive, this is already drinking fantastic.

Pulled one glass from a 375ml bottle with my Coravin just to see where this is in its evolution. Dang... it is beastly. Incredible fruit concentration with massive tannin on the finish, but with a long finish that powers through the tannin. This drinks like a young cult California blend with gobs of black cherry fruit and the tannin to back it up. 90 points today and 95+ points in 10+ years. Definitely made us a modern style typical of Gerard Perse wine making. Hold for at least 5 more yrs.

The 2015 iteration of Château Monbousquet is an opaque crimson blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Packed with black fruit, espresso, dried herbs and licorice, it is a medium-to-full-bodied offering that is freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and generously oaked. This wine has a substantial tannic backbone, but the tannins are very fine-textured, making it easy to drink even at this early stage. Nicely dense on the mid-palate and finishing with good length, this is yet another example of the beauty of the 2015 vintage in Bordeaux. Drink 2020-2035.

Big time torréfaction. Dried black fruit. Loads of oak. A fun citrus/floral note. Medium body plus. Ostentatious. Most backward of 2015s I’ve tasted yet. Needs 5-10 years.

Have several bottles and wanted to get a feel for whether I should buy more for aging. Hour decant and it has loads of potential and drinking about as decent as a young Bordeaux can. Will be getting more

Hold for at least 5 more yrs.

big, rich, extracted, toasty oak, full flavor, currants, cassis, dark fruits, full bodied, long finish, one experienced taster mistook it for a Syrah blend, more power than elegance

Better freshness coming out of Saint Emilion (Actually two locations: UGCB in New York (1/2018) and in Saint Emilion (12/2017)): Rather rich and heady - and a bit drying, this blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet France and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, having aged before bottling in 70% new oak. Tasted at Château Pavie.
