Our last bottle of this, of 2 cases purchased in 2013, alongside the 2015 in Zalto Universals on a beautiful day. Not decanted. It has lost fruit, but the acidity and structure are still excellent. Nutty on the nose, plenty of richness, dark straw color, actually a bit Burgundian in that I might have called it chardonnay on first sniff, before really thinking about it. It seemed to improve after an hour or so open, surprisingly given that the fruit was a little tired, and the last sips were among the best. Finished on the deck. What a run for these bottles. Makes us think the drinking window on VdF may start at 5 yrs and go to around 10, but could be longer what with more GG wine included, older vine age, improvements in winemaking etc.

From memory. Decanted. My last bottle and just beautiful. Petrol on the nose with tart apples, minerals, unripe pears, mild eucalyptus and flowers. Palate was similar to the nose with petrol being a small component on the palate. Just excellent minerality leading to a complex and beautiful finish. Delicious. Mouthwatering. Complex. A complete wine.

CK 5/21/19. Tastes less dry than in 2010 but I think thats because it has rounded out with age. Everything in balance and lovely expression of dry Riesling. Drink or hold.

Josh Kurek's birthday bash (Somewhere way the fuck out on Long Island): Alan brought this. Ah Riesling ... big nose with fruit up front and then some Austrian aspects along side it: ripe peach, peach pit, brothy, nutmeg, some citrus. Burly palate with peach and spice, lots of acid - ouch! Pure peach and stone finish - long and focused. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

Outstanding Riesling! This Keller QbA level has 10 years of age and it’s still fresh and live. The nose was pretty generous. Key notes were mineral, with intense white stone profile, followed by fresh fruit, citrus notes. The palate showed the same precision that the mineral notes on the nose suggested. Medium / full body (abv. 12.5%). Notes of ripe fruits were more perceptible on the palate than on the nose. Nice dense finish. Great indication to the potential ageing for Keller’s higher wines.

Pale gold yellow. Petrol, medium tart apples spiked with pineapples, minerals, a hint of eucalyptus on the nose. Palate with a complete mix of apples, asian pear, followed by pineapple, with some serious rocks coming on the back of midpalate through a complex long finish of rocks and fruit beautifully balanced. Beautiful.

Delicious wine. Flowers, ripe peaches and apricots, and a hint of petrol on the nose. Bright acidity and expansive flavors of honeysuckle and white fruits on the palate. Fatter than I expected, but balanced with a noticeable mineral spine. Medium length finish with the slightest hint of sweetness (either from fruit or RS) keeps me going back to the glass over and over again.

Nice fruity dry wine. Classic petrol nose with a slightly lusher/fuller finish than the 2005, though it still has the acidic finish to stand up to the fruits. Paired nicely with a chicken tagine.

Riper fruits than I expected on the nose - hints of peach, apricot etc. but I enjoyed it. On the palate, has a slightly creamy feel. A generously fruited trocken, and compared well with an 06 Karthauserhof spatlese trocken poured in the same flight. Great buy from Lyle for under $20. 91 pushing 92.

Pop/pour. Agree with CWeiss note below, 3 years later! Lively, almost comes across with a fizz. More acidity apparent than in the '05 (at least the leaker which may have been accelerated in its development). A bit of dryness on the finish. I think a day or two in the fridge for the remainder of the bottle might serve to improve the integration / balance of this one. On opening, it comes across as well-made and well-proportioned, but somewhat disjointed. Update: even a short time in the glass (20 minutes) serves to round this out somewhat and makes it considerably more enjoyable. Decant next time around. Good QPR.

Light gold with a slight green facet. Lime, honeydew melon and crushed rocks on the nose – powerful stuff. Opens extremely acidic – almost bracing to the point of wincing. There is richness and some depth (significantly more complex than last bottle), but the acidity is absolutely overwhelming. I find this very difficult to drink (I do enjoy the nose very much). Alcohol shows on the finish. Love the GG’s, but will have to pass on this one. (80)

Light gold with a broad, clear rim. Sweet cream and honeyed nose cut by a fierce acidity. Something missing – almost a bit hollow. Initial attack is grapefruit peel and stones, hinting at sweetness though there is very little (obviously). Medium depth. I don’t get layers or complexity – fine but not at all inspiring. (86)

Awesome crisp, tart sweet Ries (yes, it is a dry Ries, but has a delightfully sweet intensity of fruity). This wine just flies. A pleasure from first sip to last.

Colour clear and pale golden, fine. On the nose this shows a lot of minerals and flowers. On the palate it is with a dry finish but fine fruit and acidity is clearly present. Young, but a pleasure to drink. Fine balance.

As with previous bottles, an overperforming basic trocken, aging beautifully. Dry but generously fruited, this was well liked by P. A steal at $19.

Drank it immediately out of the bottle at a restaurant. Was great--slightly off dry. Paired wonderfully with the food.
