4th Saturday Brown Bagger (R&D's): Double blind. Youthful inky color. Aromas of tobacco, black currants, licorice, chocolate and lavender. Full-bodied and slightly firm, with fine tannins and flavors of black currants, boysenberry and chocolate. Vanilla and herbaceous elements emerge with aeration. I love the forward dark fruit here, and I kept oscillating between this and wine A for my favorite in the flight. I guessed Napa cabernet sauv blend but at no point did Bordeaux cross my mind.
This had been given a decant about 2.5 hrs before service. Certainly a Bordeaux for Napa cabernet lovers, made in a modern style, which isn't a dig as it's a very good wine. Another wine that I happen to have a few of and so based on this I'll hold for a good while and hope for some of its heritage to show. 2030+. (V&M)

First taste was a bit pruney and I was afraid it was bricked but an hour open and it went away and a great combination of fruit, spices (pepper and cinnamon?) and super integrated silky tannin’s appeared. Delicious.

Quick decant. Dusty baked blackberry fruit on the nose with savory dried mint and dried thyme notes. Palate delivers rich and wonderfully pure blackberry and black currant fruit with a baked blueberry pie note. Tacky tannins on the finish with black fruit, black olive, granite and notes of mint and iron. Bold and showy and in a nice place.

Late-picking has primed the instincts of 2016 - you get more Bordeaux rather than bland enrichment. This has really found its bearings over the last year. Excellent.

Au restaurant, carafé pendant 20 minutes puis bu durant 90 minutes. Un vin parfait dans un bar à vins! Hédoniste, sexy, super bien vinifié, excellent aujourd'hui mais avec de la réserve pour plusieurs années.

Decent Bordeaux and shows characteristics of the region. A little lighter than expected. It can cellar for some more time. I'm not sure how much better it will get though. Missing some complexity in the structure. I have two more and will sit on those for a few years.

The 2016 Roc de Cambes has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with rich aromas of cassis and cherries mingled with a rich patina of dark chocolate, spices and cigar wrapper. Full-bodied, deep and muscular, its ample, concentrated core if framed by powdery tannins and impressively lively acids. While it's unavoidably marked by its time in 100% new wood, it's the best integrated "great" vintage of Roc de Cambes I can remember tasting at such an early stage.
This is quite delightful. One of the most Californian Bordeaux wines I have ever tasted, but not at all overdone or overripe. Beautiful black currant and black cherry fruit, allspice, cumin, cedar and earth. Supple but also with nice structure. Not overly complex but quite delicious.

Deep ruby black, rather smoky aromas, bordering on acrid. Some slightly sweet, briny flavors that my tasting companion described as salted cucumber. Decent weight, nice feel, just some odd notes that left me a bit confused. Judgement reserved.
one hour of air deep rich and concentrated I found the 2012 super approachable but vintage does make a difference this is very primary and moderately tannic A clear step up in scale from 2012 and worth giving it more cellar time

What a tricky wine. Upon pnp, it's a typical St Emillion nose, seems like it's going to be something special, but the taste is just okay. Feels sort of incomplete and watery. But still it's approachable - it could strike you as a supermarket wine, $20 or something. But then, three hours later, it's like someeone slipped a different wine in the glass. Complex, deep, flavorful, and clearly too young but wow what an experience. Decant 4-5 hours or wait.

Rich, lush, and plump blackberry, ripe blueberry, black cherry, chocolate, and some earthy spice. A heightened plushness makes for a round delivery that is certainly flavorful (and luckily still controlled and focused), but missing tension on the back end. The overall execution makes for a tasty palate pleaser, but gets close to veering into a simple and fruity one and done dollop of fruit. Complexity and acidic intensity are afterthoughts here.
It’s a satisfying Merlot type of crowd pleaser, as long as your crowd is composed of Wednesday afternoon scrapbookers and book of the month club types. 90-91? points. Give it another 3-5 years and hope it finds some tertiary flavors at some point to add interest... and doesn’t just peter out.
Tasted twice with consistent impression, note from memory. Aromas and flavors of rich, opulent black and tangy red fruits of excellent depth, spices, dark chocolate and potting soil, with medium-full intensity polished tannins that give this a firm structure. Long and layered finish of fruit extract, earth, refreshing bitters. High deliciousness factor and surprisingly accessible now makes this hard to keep hands off, but likely better in a few years when it relaxes.

What a pleasant surprise! This wine is tasty. It is rich, juicy, with a tag of sweetness. I'd say it is a Bordeaux ready to drink now. With high end Bordeaux prices increasingly growing out of reach, I would happily drink this wine all day long.

Terrific wine. Has several years of life to come. Bright medium plus acid, medium plus tannins but have begun to smooth out nicely, black cherry, black berry and a soft waft of cherry tobacco. Very nice.

Small tasting glass @ VINEUM during service, so a brief note. Young, but very pleasant already. Real structure, full of dark fruit but perhaps a bit on the oaky side still. If you can't resist to drink one bottle (or more) now, use large stemware and a karaf for a couple of hours!

Earthy, truffle, licorice, salt, brioche and black cherries open the nose. Full bodied, with fresh, cherries, the wine is concentrated, full bodied, and offers something wild and refined at the same moment. The finish is fruity, earthy and juicy.
