starting to show some bricking around the rim, the nose is really terrific with cedar, spice, light floral notes. Tannins are still quite assertive and a bit drying. Fruit seems to be fading, so depending on how you like these will determine further cellaring. I've got three left, and will open then over the next few years to see if this goes anywhere (and by few, I probably mean 10 or so).

Not a style of wine I enjoy. Very leathery and tannic. I am obviously an outlier here. Tasted against two 2001 Riservas. This 2000 is rounder than the 2001s.

The wine looks orange, light crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), forest floor and mushroom. It tastes like red currant, plum and oak. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

Bright red (cherry), nice burst if acidity. Nice spice, floral, slight leather. Builds to a lingering finish. Really enjoyable. Some tannins but pretty well integrated. 30-60 second finish. Needs a couple hours air to shine.

The nose was ripe and fresh, with crushed strawberry complimented by floral stems, rose, gravel dust, and hints of cinnamon. It entered the palate with soft, dark velvety tones, which seemed to melt away to show beaming acidity and fine tannins that coated the senses into the close. Dark red fruits, earthy minerals and subtle spice lingered through the finish.

Classic nebbiolo. Fully mature. Transparant red color. Ligth and fragrant style. Roses and exotic wood in the nose. Ligth cherry fruit, softened tannins and a strong acidic touch.

13,50% alc., transparentes Rubinrot.

Purchased several bottles of this wine from a local distributor and this is, regretfully, my last bottle. Did not decant but does not seem to have affected this particular bottle. Medium colored, considerable browning during the pour and on the sides. Nose of tar, roses, and blackberries, tar, roses and full tanins in the mid-range and finish, but soft and not bitter, appropriate to the wine. Good length. Quite a nice wine for what I paid, but I am not sure how much longer (2-5 years?) this wine will hold. I have had a few Travaglini's before and have always thought they were good value and quality for the price.

Laser beam of deep red cherry with a mildly candieed character. Pretty floral notes. Toasted cherry tart, big acid, tannins and earth on the palate. Also, black cherry skins with some meat and spice.

Piemonte BYO (HSH): Raspberry nose with a little sewer and sweet coffee. Sweet and full bodied cherries with a good acidity and juicy tannins. Good intensity but overall not really impressive. Seems mature.

Thursday Upper East Side BYO (Afghan Kebab House II, NYC): Medium ruby color. Focused and intense nose of red cherry, rose petals and dry herbs. Very pretty and elegant. Medium bodied on the palate with fine tannins and a touch of bitter earthiness. Still quite young but delicious.

perfumed nose of sweet oak and olives - blinded I might guess Bordeaux. Mouth - polished with mostly secondary flavors (leather?, tea), and very very dry. Good tannic structure and good length. Recommended for a meal. In a sense it reminds me of a mature wine - but what it lacks in fruit it makes up for in elegance. And a very bizarre shaped bottle to boot.

Med. garnet with a brickish rim. Decanted. Aromas quite closed for the first hour or so but opened up with rustic nebbiolo character. Cherry, tar, a little flowery perfume. Tannins still quite strong but decent acidity and good balance. More rustic than finess but a great food wine. I wouldn't have another for 3-5 yrs.

Light garnet with ample orange rim. Very ripe – in 2000 style- aromas of raspberry and currant. Charming spices, violet, leather, tar. Hints of mineral and balsamic notes. Medium full body, very sweet on the palate, a lot of acidity for the vintage and tannins a little astringent in the moderate finish. Not structured like 99, but equally a must for Travaglini’s fans.
