Drinking with friends III - The world (Santa Monica (Rn)): Brilliant straw yellow. Extremely intense at nose, with hints of boxus, sage and grafite being overshadowed by a powerful fumè /oil smell. Coherent at taste, with the fumè footprint covering all the wine's shades. Not my wine.

Retailer tasting. Citrus, gooseberry, apple, herbal spice and a whiff of smoke (imagination?), with discrete oak, a slightly creamy mouthfeel and good length. Based on personal preference, I would hold for another 3+ years.

Pop and pour, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, lemon peel, grape fruit, and saline. Palate: Light bodied, crisp acidity, lemon and sour apple attack, lemon butter notes, short, but satisfying finish. Simple, but tasty.

Wuchtbrumme!

Fred Recommendation. Tasted blind: C = very light, pale straw N = grapefruit, flint, limestone, steely, mineral, P = grapefruit, citrus, firm, tight structure, lemongrass. Heat on the mid-back palate, could this be high alcohol? (A = Yes!) Long palate, limestone, minerality, wet stone & tanginess on the finish. Wine is very temperature sensitive. N2 = lemongrass & minerality P2 = mineral & steel & tightly integrated with grapefruit & lemongrass. Nice mouthfeel. Has a tanginess and goes well with cheese and crackers. N = perfumey and floral and feminine at times. Goes really well with black truffle honey. P = nice acididty and well integrated O = 90 2/24/19 tasting: N = softened, starting to fall apart, less vibrant P = grapefruit, tangy, sweet tarts or smarties candy. Puckers both sides of palate. Lemongrass & minerality lessened. Better yesterday. O = 89 Guess = 2016 french sav blanc, reminiscent of the Chateau Cruzeau we've had in the past. Paid $13.60 at Kroger incl 20% case discount

Always a quality varietal from this venerable producer, this offering was more about the fruit and texture of the wine and less about the oak. Notes of lemon, tangerine, orange peel and lime on the palate with a vibrant, medium to full mouthfeel delivered on a backbone of peppered crushed gravel and crisp acidity. Very good QPR. Consistently enjoyable year-to-year.

Tons of sulfur on initial pour - blew off a bit with time. Tangerine, grapefruit, no obvious oak notes, Dry, med body/alcohol. Short on complexity and finish.

Light yellow color. Smells bright and lively with lemon and sea salt and white pepper, but also notes of pineapple and honey. Full-bodied and creamy texture to the palate, but the acidity is bright and crisp. Yellow apples, quince, lemon curd, the fruit is mixed with white pepper, oregano, salted almond, honey and seashells. Rich but nuanced, this is always a reliably good Napa Sauv Blanc, but 2016 is something special. Includes Semillon, this wine is all barrel fermented and aged si months in French oak.

Light and Crisp, green apple, citrus and grass. Solid tannins for the sav blanc. Typical, nothing special but a good effort

Typical Sauvignon Blanc “cat pee” nose, but palate was fun with lots of pineapple and lime; would go great with seafood or Mexican food.
