From Coravin. First some light colour then the sediment others have mentioned came out darkening it to black/red. Nose slightly muted for a Pintia - black fruit with a hint of garrigue as another reviewer noted. Mouth coating tannins and some acidity. Long finish but fruit seems to have faded. Probably past peak. Will see how itge next glass goes.

Clear deep garnet with big clear legs; clean medium plus nose of balsamic/iodine, dried cherries, dried blueberries, menthol, toast and garrigue; dry; high acidity; medium tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; pronounced flavour intensity; pfn with addition of black licorice; long finish; outstanding quality; a little hot on acidity and alcohol - not quite out of balance but close; drink now

So there is a Ying and Yang with this wine. It has matured into a wonderful wine but not an exquisite wine. It is balanced, still fruit filled but not fruit forward. Moderate complexity but a VERY enjoyable food wine as we drank with suckling pig and it didn’t over power the food. Definitely good at the price point I paid and happy to have more in our cellar.

Tempranillo based wine, but not as big and in your face as many of its breathen. More elegant style. Full bodied. Starts off with deep dark red/purple with some bricking. Plenty of sediment .... definitely needs a decant to get rid of sediment. But still some fine silty sediment. This is a dirty wine. Nice ripe voluptuous, round wine but with enough acidity to keep it all in check. Berry flavours open up followed by a silty berry creaminess and cloves/spices. Nice and fleshy with good weight to the mouthfeel. Espresso, and meaty mid palate. Nice smooth flavourful long finish. Tannins are well integrated, drying but not overpowering.
Really liked this wine, so easy and smooth to drink, but excellent complexity and depth without being heavy/plodding.
But decant this puppy for the sediment . Let it breathe for a hour or two.

Deep, rich, masculinely seductive tobacco and ashtray on the first day, with really not that much oak and an eventual rounded, creamy dark fruit quality complimenting all the tobacco and ashtray after a few hours. Days 2 and 3 dark fruited, sweet, and smooth, but evacuated of personality. A wine to enjoy in its first evening.

The third wine of the evening. Concrete-opaque, dark purple on the eye. Aromas of vanilla, oak, fruit, some sous bois (dirty wet forest), veggies and, just in case we forgot to mention, big blackberry fruit! Subtle tannins with spice and dark black fruits on the palate. Yummy. Oh Our Ears and Whiskers...this wine dances along the balance beam like an Olympic gold medal winner. Definition of balance with every element coming together like a finely tuned orchestra! The finish was outstandingly long and lingering...we were staring into space! She gave the 2005 a run for her money!!! A winner from A to Z with plenty of life in her...but nice to take for a whirl around the dance floor now!

93+ Decanted for 1.5 hours and served with grilled skirt steak. Initially vanilla on nose from oak (plus blackberry / plum / tobacco / herbal / charcoal overtones) with full body, high acidity and rich tannic structure. Long finish. better at cellar temperature (at room temp. the alcohol is noticeable). Very enjoyable today although should continue to improve. Would buy again.

A powerful, rich wine with great structure. Purple with spicy black fruit with moderate tannins. The general consensus is that it can be drunk from now until 2025. But I would not touch it for at least another 2 years. Superb.

Wine still not in it's prime drinking window. Dark reddish / black color. Threw lots of sediment. Tobacco, blackberry, black currants, charcoal on nose. On palate, blackberry, black cherry, dirt, sweet tobacco with medium+ body, very tannic (not noticeable with food) and very long finish. Decant for 3+ hours if drinking now - will drink remaining bottles 2016+. 93+ (91-92 today but 93+ potential).

Well, previous notes apply but I must say that we drank this over two days and it was great on day one and better on day two. After drinking day two is was apparent that this wine was still 'tight' on day one and while expressive, it was a bit restrained. On day two the wine had opened, the tanins and fruit more complex and expressive suggesting there is some aging potential left in this wine. Unlike other Vega Sicilia wines which if drank young are very fruit forward, alcoholic and jammy this wine is drinking very well although young still.

@ Sampler Tasting 04/2014 - 70% French/30% American oak, this release received an extra 2 years of bottle age over the usual 2. I found it slightly muted. Dusky cassis on the nose into a dense chewy drying palate with cocoa and coffee flavours.

This is a terribly good wine. At this point in time it's very drinkable and still has aging potential. Nose is cassis black berries very floral very strong tannins. The tannins are very good right now long long legs and still very young. Black berries raspberries flint a bit plumpish hint of sour plum. Vanilla middle tone bit of Cassis aftertaste. It's brilliant.

Drank at the end of a disappointing Super Bowl party (the party was great, the game stunk). This wine probably deserved a palate that was less fatigued than where I was for the evening, but it still impressed with the cherry/raspberry and Asian spice mix. Almost delicate, this would pair well with a light pork or chicken dish.

So, 3 years ago this wine was very rustic withdrawn and closed. Couldn't tell if it would develop or not. Today WOW. I brought a 2010 Malescot Supery just as an experiement in young Bordeaux and my friend brought the Pintia. OUTSTANDING. Ready but with time available to wait. Expressive of big red and black fruit, balanced acidity and tannins. Silky smooth and full mouth texture. No acetone as experienced in the past. A beautiful wine today. Previous poster express the finer details very well with the exception of the high alcohol. I'm not experiencing that at all today.

Pretty good. This very young, but after sitting in a decanter for an hour or, it opened up slightly and made for a pretty good accompaniment to our roasted suckling pig dish. This was clearly a more modern style of tempranillo though, showing a really big nose, full of sweet blackberries and cassis aromas on a nice backdrop of earth, dried herbs and flowers, with a nice waft of tobacco smoke drifting along behind. The palate was still really youthful - very primary and a bit tight at first - but already quite delicious, with juicy morsels of blackcherries and berries, little wafts of earth and spice and smoke, and a nice savoury tail with an ever-so-slightly meaty note leading into a ncie minerally linger. A good amount of bright acidity and still chewy tannins completed the package on the finish. Enjoyable with food now, but this is still really primary and should really be given the benefit of 5-6 years more in bottle.

Beautiful purple color. Expressive and complex bouquet with dark fruits, cherry liquor dark chocolates, eucalyptus and some menthol. Opaque, nearly pitch black at the core with a violet rim. The nose is dominated by oaky, spicy aromatics. One of those that you can set your glass down and still smell the wine as if your nose were plunged in the bowl. Absolutely huge wine with as deep and brooding black fruit that one can imagine. Espresso, tobacco and leather add layers of complexity to the palate. This kept a great palate weight throughout and even though there was no apparent acidity, this paired beautifully with prime rib. Massive tannic structure and a long, savory finish.
So, if I am to drink a big, ultra modern red wine, this is one I like a lot. The food on the table prime rib carved off the bone called for a big, tannic wine and this delivered in spades. We gave it an hour in the decanter before we brought it to the dinner party as it was completely unyielding at first.

Just enjoyed the wine and did not make any notes because I don't have to. This is so typical Pintia. Just delicious juice with good complexity. 91+

JC characterized this best...it tastes like chewing on food while having a glass of chocolate milk. I'd like to think that some of these tones would mellow out and allow some earthy Toro characteristics bubble to the surface, but over oaking with roasted fruit is getting all too common in Toro these days. Who knows.

Dark ruby red. Sweet cassis filled nose; a touch spicy with a hint of vanilla oak. Full on and still challengingly youthful, the blackcurrant and cherry fruit is sweet, bright and creamy, but is tempered by the grippy, slightly bitter tannins and smoky oak. A bruiser; young and very concentrated.

Red plum and cocoa aromas with hints of vanilla. On the palate good tannins, slightly alcoholic but less than expected despite its 15%. Flavours of blueberry, sweet black licorice and vanilla. Sweet notes and long and creamy aftertaste. A wine where elegance predominates opposite to power, which is rare in wines from Toro region. This wine will improve in next years for sure.

(Due cuochi with Mattos) Great wine. Very young at this point. Strong structure, very good complexity and a long finish. Excelent!

WOW!!!!!!
petulant pour, vinturi fast decant-cool
deep, full bodied oxblood red, high alcohol
a little cedar and spice on the nose, follows through to the palate
medium plus finish, progressive styled wine
this wine has an amazing QPR (+1), and really drinks like a much more expensive wine. it has great structure and great finesse. buy lots of this wine.....

Horrible QPR. Had better 20 dollar bottles. Nothing special, perhaps will develop with time?

Sweet-and-sour, cherry stones, tannic, unimpressive. Retaste?

Big smoky nose, full of vanilla and ripe black fruits. Dense and powerful, yet all the components are well balanced. Obviously still very young, the tannins are grippy but are in-sync with the tarry, lush ripe fruits.

Savory beefy balsamic black satsuma plums and some exotic spice. Medium built with nice body but not bulky.

Very nice wine. Powerful and condensed stuff. Needs two more years to get at its best.

Beautiful purple color. Expressive and complex bouquet with dark fruits, cherry liquor dark chocolates, eucalyptus and some menthol. On the palate full bodied with dark fruit juice (blackberries and cherries), chocolate, beautiful oak, pleasant sweetness, round tannin and beautiful acidity. Very youthful and also very harmonious. Great wine with a future of at least 5 - 7 years.

- Garnet color with slow forming legs and aromas of dusty. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of walnut with a medium/full body. Silky texture - Silky tannins, although they are robust.

Full bodied; soft tannin but also with enough power to last for at least a decade from the vintage. Black fruits, also elegance and good acidity. Beautiful oak and some spiciness. Just delicious juice with good complexity. 91+

Fantastic and sooo concentrated. Way too early to drink. Needs heavy food at this point. Lots of new oak. Very high viscosity. Spices, liquorice, pepper, black currant. Long aftertaste

A very concentrated, oppulent wine that needs time for oak to mellow. Black fruit, spices and evident new oak.

Decent bottle, very angular on the palate at this stage. The fruit seems a bit lost in awash of flavors. The wine seems backwards at this stage, perhaps it needs time.

Looks very impressive with very dark fruit, but very hot on the palate, overwhelming the fruit. Alcohol is quite high. Finish was rather bitter. Expected better.

España Tasting (Wine Exchange. Orange, CA): Dark purple. Come cofee on the nose. Very mellow on the front palate and slowly builds as tannins come forward. Tastes include dark berries, chocolate and coffee. Interesting profile--very strong tannins, but a bit weak in fruit concentration.
