As always, consistent Cab from Silver Oak. Black raspberry, cassis and sweet tobacco aroma. Dried raspberry leaf flavor. Excellent texture, has mellowed flavors and a smooth finish. Ready to drink now and could do well with a few more years in the cellar as well. Great acidity for food. We pair with homemade pizzas and the spicy sausage, goat cheese and carmelized onion and kalamta oliva pizza was perfect with things wine.

Tasted thru Corvin. Obviously can’t open and breath. I’m going to cease tasting what I expect to be outstanding wines with the Corvin due to being unable to decant.
Couldn't identify what I was tasting on first sip, and dry and tart on the finish, but after sitting in the glass a while, it evolved and tart finish left. Nice earthy notes.

Right after opening this showed intense notes of juicy blueberry/blackberry, baking spices, and vanilla on the nose. After decanting the freshness of the fruit started to fade. On the palate the fruit came through up front along with the spice, and some subtle smokiness. The moderate length finish had smooth mouth coating tannins with tart cherry to round it out. This was popped for a celebration of someone close, and being my first bottle of silver oak, I think I got just what I was expecting. QPR below average on this, you’re paying for the name, but you already know that ;)
Day 2: A better wine today. More of the juicy and now bramble fruit up front. Much more full bodied. The wine today makes yesterday’s version seem thin and lacking substance. Tannins much more supple. Changed score to 92 to reflect the improvement on day 2

Vanilla and faint smoke on the nose. Raspberry and blueberry robust in mouth. Really packed with berry flavor. Dry and smokey finish, quick and does not linger. Leaps and bounds better than the 2016 I opened about a month ago. Chilled in the wine fridge and poured into hanging decanter for thirty minutes.

Served at a local store. Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants, dark raspberry, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate, however, I was expecting a little bigger/fuller fruit in light of the price point - medium body. Flavors of dark berries, some spice, and as others have also noted a little earthy/bell pepper profile which just isn't my thing. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep. Apparently the bottle was open for a couple hours before serving. In my opinion, a little better than the 87 rating from WS. 97.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.3% Merlot, 0.5% Petit Verdot, 0.3% Malbec, and 0.2% Cabernet Franc

So this wine had that bell pepper slight note with that signature oak this estate routinely offers. Straight ahead cab fruit, dark cherry. What I walked away saying was that it was slightly hollow. I missed a core of rich fruit. Some might say "balanced" or elegant but to me with the overlay of oak I'd have liked more rich fruit. Why 92? My scoring system awards points for structure and there was nothing off putting in this wine just a wish for something more. I'd drink it anytime but I would not pay the tariff again...

at tasting room. Selected portions of the very thoughtfully provided tasting note that I found commonality with: "garnet color" with "ruby red rim." Definitely "alluring" nose with "chocolate," "strawberries, vanilla, nutmeg." Palate "broad," with "raspberry and pluot," "savory black olive," finish with noticeable tannins though perhaps not as "silky" for me. Agree that it's definitely "drinkable upon release" but also agree that it could see some beneficial time sideways. 90 pts

Tobacco, vanilla and blackberry on the nose. First time trying this Silver Oak and got a glass (new bottle) at a Delta Sky Club while waiting for a flight. Not as bold as some Napa Cabernets. It’s well balanced, a little sweet. Similar to Joseph Phelps Cabernet.
Dark ruby. Brooding aromas of black fruits and stewed prunes. Lush and very easy to drink with a kiss of oak to go with its spice, plum, and berry. Long yet slightly hot finish. Smooth but not exciting.
About as consistent a wine as there is - not quite as big as the Napa Valley, but obvious cousins, a bit over the top as always for me, but I won't ever turn down a sip if its offered!

Wine Warehouse Spring Tasting, nose of black berry, earth and bell pepper, same on the palate, big body, tasty, mouth filling fruit, needs four years to peak drinking, has improved over the last year, and should continue to improve the next 4 years, medium amount of soft tannins on the midpalate and a long finish.

Purchased at dinner. Nice, but clearly not yet really ready to drink. Probably be much better in 5 years

Took a little time decanting but really shows nice jammy fruit and structure. Juicy raspberry and tart cherry, big tannins with a light chalk finish. Will only improve with more bottle age.

Very good but not worth the price tag in my opinion. For the money I would buy a John Anthony or a Justin isosceles before I buy silver oak

Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon (Silver Oak Oakville): At Silver Oak Cellars Oakville, nose of black berry, with hints of earth and bell pepper, same on the palate, big body, very tasty, rich fruit, and a long finish, with a touch of soft tannins on the finish suggests its 2 years to its peak.

Pretty nice nose but falls apart on the palette. Disappointed given the price.

Decanted 2 hours. Nice enough but just totally lacking intensity and flavor. Dusty dark fruit, earth and confectioners sugar. Drinking like a lower end Bordeaux. Food friendly to be positive.

N: Berries, CREAMY oak atop
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met fairly quickly by puckerish astringency which morphs into a LONG, very, VERY slightly spicy finish with bitter/swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS into, poss through '21, then drinking for 4-6 yrs more based upon this bottling's track record for aging. My EXC-.

90 pts

Just so damn consistent. One can almost interchange notes from one vintage to the next. You'll always get a well made, slightly generic but tasty cab every single time.
