  • Drinking very well right now with a modest decant of 20-30 minutes. Flavor profile has a personality all its own and one can immediately recognize it as being Miss Hopper. There's a meaty, savory, (umami) character to the fruit which at times seems blue and at others red. Just one of my all time favorite vineyards.

  • On the nose pleasant floral aromas light purple flower petals and reddish purple colors, good start however, on the palate very restricted. This was a pop and pour but the wine was tight and pretty acidic. I poured a glass and allowed it to sit for some time with very little success. Day 2 there was improvement, tart dark berry fruit, dark raspberry, blueberry, sour cherry, some oak and tannins. Definitely better, but I think cellaring this wine will make for a better experience. 92 Points.

Update: This wine showed much better with food, better by a point plus. With some air, the wine really began to preform the flavors were more discernible the acidity ratcheted back making this wine more enjoyable. 93+ Points and decanting is a must.

  • After looking at the bottle, I see now this was actually a 2016 Amici MH.

Quality wine, good fruit that because of acid level comes off as red, maybe raspberry leaning. Very delicious though. Shows a little of the bloody characteristics of this site. Lacks the mouthfeel and weight of the Carter. I'd say it medium weight for this vineyard.

Overall I'd say this is a quality wine, from a good maker. I think if you have these I would wait a year or two to see what it becomes.

  • Wonderful Blue and Red fruit and the "meatiness" often seen from this vineyard. Drinking well with excellent acidity and balance. Tannins/wood well integrated at this point. Good finish. Lacked only the glide and silky mouthfeel to move it into the upper echelon. Both were good but not big and mouth-filling like a B Cellars version. Nose was good but not memorable but it was the 4th bottle so ??

Against a excellent lineup of similarly quality wines I'd give it WOTN - 95

  • May be the WOTN......4th bottle so who knows? Had the classic MHopper fruit profile with a bead of acidity running thru it. Just fantastic. Thanks to HMC for opening.....drinking so very well right now.

  • Clean, bright red fruits aroma, some minerality coming through, hint of green vegetables, drinking this against the amici beckstoffer to kalon, and it is a little mute in comparison. On the palate, high quality wine with acidity a bit overwhelming the tannin. Good finish. Can tell it is a good wine, but not nearly as good as the To Kalon.

  • Brought by HMC to tonight's meal......beautiful right from the pnp but got even better over 1-2 hours of air. Acidity still strong, giving the red fruit an energy over the night. Clean, well made and mid weight. Unmistakable Missouri Hopper fruit. This particular vineyard is quickly becoming my fav of all the Napa vineyards.

  • Drank over several hours after an hour initial decant. Medium full bodied. Very good mouthfeel and excellent balance. Wonderful red and black fruit profile. Overall impression of higher toned complexity. An excellent wine and my favorite tonight over the more expensive B Cellars of the same vineyard and vintage. Thanks Mark for opening. Glad to have 3 more! 94+

  • Dark in the glass on pouring. Dense, dark almost black fruit on opening. Evolved over 4 hours to a classic Cali old world type cab with iron and lead pencil on the nose. It was dry and layered with fruit and complexity. Drinks older than a '14 vintage, IMO. Reminds you of an aged BDX in a way. Gentle acidity and a few woody tannins round out the experience. Just beautiful.

  • Napa 2019; 7/14/2019-7/18/2019: On its own this is a good wine. Compared to its younger sibling the ‘15, it suffered and was outmatched. Good fruit and nice structure, but seemed disjointed. Red fruited palate without the bubble gum; floral note and bing cherries made this a pleasure to drink. However, the ‘15 seemed much more lively and integrated. This was a good comparison of vintage effect.

  • This wine needs A LOT of air. By day three though, this was absolutely gorgeous. Blackberry, licorice, and distinctive umami notes of mushroom and forest floor...so seductive. Truly exceptional.
